  1. Tesla Model 3 starts at ฿1,599,000 for the base model, the performance model will be over ฿2,000,000. You have to pay extra for paint colour, you don’t get a free wall charger with free installation, free servicing or cheap finance. The extras with a BYD seal are worth ฿230,000
  2. Best to check your facts before posting. I purchased a BYD Seal AWD Performance and it was cheaper than the cheapest Tesla you can buy in Thailand. Yes, all BYDs come with LFP batteries which are much safer, longer lasting and with none of that nasty cobalt that that you get in LR and Performance Teslas. BYD has 100 dealerships in Thailand with plans for another 200 by the end of 2025. Tesla has only one. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/byds-thai-distributor-triple-ev-dealerships-expand-commercial-offerings-2024-01-19/ BYD will start manufacturing EVs and spare parts in Thailand this year My BYD Seal comes with bi-directional charging and the equivalent of 6 Tesla PowerWalls of backup power which I use to power my home - you can’t do that with a Tesla
  3. Toyota has lied about EV battery breakthroughs for years https://thedriven.io/2023/07/05/solid-state-batteries-toyota-has-history-of-talking-big-on-ev-breakthrough-but-not-delivering/
  4. Can’t be bothered to check your facts but posts it anyway. This is why we can never have an intelligent debate with EV haters - they are not interest in the facts.
  5. https://autolifethailand.tv/lotus-eletre-ev-bev-comimg-thailand/ Can’t stretch to the Eletre R but was disappointed that the Eletre S only does 0-100kmh in 4.5seconds, think I’ll stick to my Seal Performance.
  6. Now I've charging 2 EVs at home, I've made a few tweaks to my solar system. If you have an EV in Thailand or are considering one, I strongly recommend getting solar as well.
  7. so you probably won’t get it ever running at 100% efficiency, but sounds like that won’t be a problem for you as you can run it for longer and less efficiently. The only way to be sure is to try it and it will only cost you the switch and some cable. Easy to work out the cost of power used. One factor I have discovered is submersible pumps seem to last longer as they are not in the heat all day and you don’t have a problem with ants setting up home inside. I have 4 submersible pumps and never had a single problem, can’t say the same for my surface pumps.
  8. Forgot to mention the Bose sound system Digital music service replicates on the drives display Super sports button I think MG tried very hard to show they were not just a budget brand and wanted to be taken seriously.
  9. I have a solar well pump and pump from a pond sharing solar panels with a switch to swap between them. if you have a 300w pump and 300w panel then most of the time you won’t have enough power to run the pump, so probably best to add another panel we ended up moving our panels away from the pond pump and closer to the submersible pump as it was having to work harder bringing the water up. A DC transfer switch which you should be able to buy from your local pump shop i don’t use a filter with my drip irrigation but I don’t have any fine spray heads
  10. I would definitely recommend taking it for a test drive before writing it off. This was MGs top end car designed to compete with the Honda CRV. It is a luxury car packed with features and a 0-100kph of 6.9 seconds. I’ve owned one for over 2 years. It’s 70km EV only range is enough for most of our local trips. We own a Seal Performance as well, but we have no plans to sell the HS as we have 5 dogs and a baby.
  11. I couldn’t find anything on diesel trucks efficiency at producing electricity, but a diesel generator would be way more efficient as they are designed for that specific purpose. So your figures above are way out. “A general rule of thumb is that a diesel generator will use 0.4 L of diesel per kWh produced” https://energyeducation.ca/encyclopedia/Diesel_generator This is fossil thinking, you have to drive to the filling station to fill up, so most ice drivers only fill up when their vehicle is nearly empty. You would be surprised just how many EV owners on this forum also have solar. It’s something we talk about a lot. After all it’s only logical to have solar once you have an EV. My EV is always fully charged as I charge it every day (Use it or Lose it)
  12. Really! https://aseannow.com/topic/1311736-my-ev-can-power-my-home/
  13. I started this discussion to inject some facts into the “debate” about EVs. The facts are that here in Thailand EVs are the fastest growing class of vehicles. (Link posted in my OP) over 25% of vehicles sold last month in Thailand were full EVs. That makes Thailand one fastest growing market for EVs in the world. By comparison “Sales of pickups fell 42% in 2022, in 2023 they fell again by 35%” https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2024/01/06/jury-still-out-on-ev-vehicles-thailand-is-up-against-the-wall/ The EV haters are quick to claim that EV growth has stalled but that is not true. The posts in this discussion reveal the “I’m not an EV hater but..” types have a very poor grasp of the facts and are happy to lie. You very rarely see them use citations to support their arguments (understandable as it’s difficult finding legitimate sources to support a lie) There are plenty of EV owners online here who are happy to share their experiences owning an EV in Thailand, both the good and the bad. Why would anybody listen instead to an EV hater who rants on about the evils of Lithium at the same time posting links to Cobalt mining Having a “debate” with an EV ultracrepidarian is like playing chess with a pigeon that knocks over all the pieces, poops on the board and then struts around like he won the game.
  14. This the quotation I got 180 micron 3yr warranty 6 monthly inspection and full polish ฿28,000 - front half of the car not glasss roof ฿56,000 - whole car not glass roof plus interior trim 190 micron 4yr warranty 6 monthly inspection and full polish ฿38,000 - front half of the car not glasss roof ฿63,000 - whole car not glass roof plus interior trim They didn’t say when it needed to be replaced, just “up to you” the cheapest option would be PPF on the plastic nose and rear sections, but I haven’t found a company that offers that. still not sure what route to take yet
  15. I am so bored constantly explaining basic concepts about EVs to you. You clearly know nothing about EVs and you fail to retain any new information explained to you by patient EV owners. There is no hope for you so I won’t waste anymore time on you. Done talking to you
  16. You don’t a car, truck or motorcycle? Don’t take trips in taxis, motorcycles taxis, tuk tuks, buses, baht buses? Because if you do, then you are hypocrite, for attacking EV owners who don’t use cobalt when you do.
  17. self-charging hybrid in Toyota Marketing speak “you don’t need to plug it in, it charges by magic” PHEVs have a small battery which gives you about 70km of battery only range (some more some less) you plug it in at home and you can probably do most of your local trips on just the battery. On longer trips you can use petrol engine. Hybrid cars have a tiny battery of about 1kWh that can’t be plugged in. It is used in slow traffic or when the car is stationary.
  18. Quotes an article, but doesn't bother to read it himself The article was about Cobalt and not Lithium. Yes, I read it, it's about Cobalt not Lithium, which I have explained..
  19. Happy to debate facts, but you have demonstrated an inability to grasp them.
  20. I just post EV Hating memes on EV discussions to demonstrate that EV haters know nothing about EVs. In case anyone was in any doubt. Having demonstrated that I have no knowledge of or interest in EVs I still want to spend my time posting on EV discussions because I have nothing better to do with my time. Let me paraphrase: It’s not unusual for EV owners to get bored and a bit pissed off having to fact check all the EV Haters who post BS about EVs. I am the OP and if you’ve got nothing intelligent to post why don’t you leave this discussion to those of us who actually know what they’re talking about.
  21. Shocking image of baby penguin contaminated by Lithium at Lithium salt flats in Australia
