  2. Looks to me that you're the one doing the spouting https://www.carbonbrief.org/mapped-how-climate-change-affects-extreme-weather-around-the-world/ https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/climate/climate-and-extreme-weather https://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/extreme-weather/ https://royalsociety.org/news-resources/projects/climate-change-evidence-causes/question-13/ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-How-climate-change-worsens-heatwaves-droughts-wildfires-and-floods
  3. If I wanted advice about iPhones I would ask someone who only used Android, that is obvious. You claim that an EV is an "unwise purchasing practice" yet you have no have direct experience to support your premise. I have refuted your arguments against owning an EV in Thailand were this forum is based. EV chargers here in Thailand have been installed recently so they tend to be modern 150kW types which may not be the case in other countries. Legacy auto manufactures are late to the party and their products can't compete. Case in point Toyota, who has sold only 66 EVs in Thailand this year, all in January and none since. BYD has sold 17,396. Total vehicle sales (ICE + EVs) in Thailand in July was down 20.6% YOY https://www.marklines.com/en/statistics/flash_sales/automotive-sales-in-thailand-by-month EV sales on the other hand were up over 13% YOY
  4. I own 2 EVs and have been driving EVs in Thailand for over 4 years and never had a problem changing away from home. Try the PlugShare app - screen shot below My latest EV has a 600km range
  5. Just your opinion based on not actually owning an EV. How about some facts instead? The MG EP is known as the MG 5 in other countries and if you want to know what they look like after 120,000 miles:
  6. Best to check your facts before posting here as you will called out on any bs Total vehicle sales (ICE + EVs) in July was down 20.6% YOY https://www.marklines.com/en/statistics/flash_sales/automotive-sales-in-thailand-by-month EV sales on the other hand were up over 13% YOY

  10. Thanks for that. Do you have a link? Just wondering if this is a grey import price as the 5 N is not listed on the Thai Hyundai site and the UK price is ฿2.8m
  11. When I first met my wife’s family their only form of transport was an old Scoopy that they had bought on an interest only finance deal. The thing was falling to bits but they still owed the original price of the bike. I cleared the outstanding debt and bought them a new Wave. A few years later they started to borrow our Click and only return it when it was empty. I asked why and was told they didn’t like the kick start on the Wave as they were getting old. I gave them our Click and bought an electric bike which they also borrowed but at least when it cames back empty it’s free and easy to charge. Looks like I will be buying them an electric bike soon 🙄
  12. 2 years ago we gave our Honda Click to the family and bought a ฿30k 1,000W Deco Hannah. I occasional use it and it's great fun. This morning someone parked the Click blocking my BYD and I had to push it out of the way. I had forgotten how heavy and ungainly it was after the Hannah.
  13. Based on the many comments I see, most people see Chinese EV companies as startups with a slim chance of survival. As usual, most of the opinions are not based on data In July BYD was the third best selling brand in the world and the rate that VW are closing down factories, they will soon be #2
  14. “EV sales are collapsing. Hybrids is what everyone is buying now” 🤔
  15. I will post any quotes I get, but as my wife is under 30 I have to pay quite a premium to have her as a named driver 😳
  16. This is what I saw in the App Store after updating
  17. All this is true, but life is short and if we keep putting off buying that EV while we wait for the better one to come along we will be missing out. Back in 2019 I put down a deposit on a ฿1.2m 44.5kWh MG ZS EV, ultimately the deal fell through as they wouldn’t install the free wall charger for someone with solar. If I had waited until today I would have missed out on 5 years of EV ownership. About a year a go a number of contributors to this discussion, including myself, were considering the BYD Seal. At the time I made a post about buyer’s remorse. Buying a car is as much an emotional as it is an intellectual decision and looking back I do not regret my decision to buy a BYD Seal AWD. I had a clear shopping list for a car at the time 1) Price ideally under ฿1.5m 2) V2L 3) LFP batteries over 70kWh 4) Dealership support close by 5) A big name company that was unlikely to go bust in a few years 6) Wife approval (happy wife, happy life) - I am fortunate that my wife is also into EVs and is often my source of the latest Thai EV news Then I wanted a test drive I have enjoyed driving my Seal and it still puts a smile on my face. Will there be a better car coming along soon? Of course, but I intend to keep my seal for a few more years yet and by then EVs will be even better.
  18. BYD Seal AWD Performance v Toyota GR Yaris Yaris over 1million Baht more BYD Seal AWD: Power: 523 hp Torque: 670 Nm 0-100kph 3.8 seconds Yaris GR 2024 - lots of inconsistency in the figures I saw online so I don't feel comfortable posting any of them
  19. Why would you buy a CRV? Lowest performance in the range: Honda CRV 0 to 100 in 9 seconds MG HS PHEV 0 to 100 in 6.9 seconds Horsepower kW Honda CRV 109 MG HS PHEV 209 Torque N-m Honda CRV 183 MG HS PHEV 480 CRV Length 4,691 mm Width 1,866 mm Height 1,664 mm MG HS Length 4,670 mm Width 1,890 mm Height 1,691 mm
  20. Another brainless troll added to my ignore list Life is too short to waste my time reading nonsense
  21. @Cameroni we have indulged your questions about hybrid cars long enough. A 1kWh NiMH battery does not an EV make and this discussion is “EVs in Thailand” Hybrids are 99% ICE cars Please start your own discussion about hybrids and not try to hijack this discussion. Thank you
  22. What’s with these quotes from early 2022? Second one in as many days. @Irish star please state the MG you’ve been in? So we all know what your talking about. I have driven all the MG EVs sold in Thailand and not seen anything to complain about, particularly compared to some ice cars I’ve owned.
  23. This is quite a good article on whether hybrid is worth the extra initial cost. https://www.drive.com.au/caradvice/are-hybrids-worth-the-extra-money-heres-the-truth/ It can take over 8 years to get your money back if you do more highway driving
