  1. Home charging will be at a speed of 7kW AC compared to fast DC charging at 150 kW so I don't think it will put too much strain on the battery
  2. I regularly see posts here claiming that REES are used in large quantities in modern EV batteries but that is incorrect. They were is used in Nickel–metal hydride batteries in older hybrid cars, but that is no longer the case. “ 'rare-earth' is a misnomer because they are not actually scarce, although historically it took a long time to isolate these elements. rare-earth elements are technically relatively plentiful in the entire Earth's crust, cerium being the 25th-most-abundant element at 68 parts per million, more abundant than copper Ce and La are important as catalysts, and are used for petroleum refining and as diesel additives” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare-earth_element
  3. This was your carefully considered reply to @Gweiloman post "Why would there be a need to upgrade the national infrastructure? Most EVs are charged at home at night when there is low demand for electricity from industries and businesses." If there wasn't less demand and more supply capacity at night why would PEA & MEA offer TOU Tariffs?
  4. There is rain and there is rain! The last time I switched on PEA was in September 2022 during Super Typhoon Nuri Here is the video of the Event - I have 4x9kWh LFP batteries by the way.
  5. I have ordered one - top spec AWD has 0-100km in 3.8 seconds. They have bi-directional charging so you can charge them up on solar in the middle of the day and power your house at night from your car.
  6. Why don't you ask people here who actually have solar and EVs then you might get some facts. A 10kW PV system would be able to run a 7kW AC wall charger for at least 6 hours a day after powering the house = 42kWh @ 7.5km/kWh = 315km/day - should cover daily usage My Payback: Main Components 20,000 Watts of PV @ ฿9/W = ฿180,000 9kWh LiFePO4 Batteries ฿68,000 x 4 = ฿272,000 Inverters ฿36,000 x 3 = ฿108,000 = ฿560,000 Savings: PEA saving ฿5,000/month Fuel saving for 2 drivers ฿5,000/month = ฿120,000/Year saving Payback = 4.6 Years - after which free electricity and driving
  7. I pay ฿26 per month for a 450 sqm house and that includes charging an EV and electric scooter, but I do have solar.
  8. I designed my house to be off-grid powered by solar. I have a grid connection but it has been switched off at the breaker for over a year now. I installed solar thermal for hot water. You mentioned concern about battery sourcing, I would suggest Lithium Iron Phosphate, which is what I used for home storage. I use excess solar produced in the middle of the day to charge my EV and electric scooter. I have ordered a second EV with an 82kWh LFP battery and V2L (bi-directional charging) which I plan to further support the house to be off-grid during the monsoon season. (Video will be uploaded to my channel soon) This is my build blog with a link to my YouTube channel https://ecohousethailand.com/
  9. I plan to add the Seal Camera and then I plan to add a multi camera system like you see in a Tesla https://www.lazada.co.th/products/tiesfong-m10max-2k-1440p-dash-cam-for-car-dvr-4ch-360-camera-24h-parking-monitor-gps-night-vision-auto-video-recorder-256gmax-i4809803963-s19902910010.html?
  10. All the cabling is present just need to slot the camera in and SD card slot for the camera is still there
  11. Toyota like the other Japanese legacy manufacturers are very late to the EV party so they are directing their efforts to posting misinformation rather than developing and building EVs Here in Thailand last month over 10% of all vehicle sales were EV and it's growing all the time Full EV sales last month: Chinese 6,007 Tesla 375 Japanese 19
  12. The biggest car market in the world is China by comparison the Japanese market doesn't compare. Japanese Automakers Face Major Sales Crisis Nissan's sales fell by 45.8% in China last quarter while those at Honda and Mazda dropped by 38.2% and 66.5% respectively https://www.carscoops.com/2023/05/japanese-automakers-struggle-in-china-as-local-ev-manufacturers-dominate-market/
  13. Thanks for the update - please keep them coming Any chance we could compile a list of Hi (Hey) BYD phrases that BYDs recognise (Increase the regeneration level - doesn't seem to work)
  14. Here in Thailand I would recommend Mr Ken Fans as they have DC motors which are more energy efficient than AC motor fans http://www.mrken-fan.com/reference/
  15. "In terms of total vehicles sold in Thailand, BYD has surpassed four smaller Japanese competitors, namely Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors, Mazda and Suzuki" https://asiatimes.com/2023/10/byd-blowing-by-japan-for-thailands-ev-market/
  16. More electric cars spontaneously combusting after driving over a twig in the road
  17. Great to hear, please keep the reports coming e.g. was there a sun shield for the glass roof? We paid our deposit for a White Seal Premium on 29th September (The price was announced at 6pm on 28th September) Seem to be plenty of performance models available - discussed with the wife if we haven't heard anything by the end of this month, we will ask if we get a AWD any quicker
  18. My MG makes a unintrusive sound like a spaceship which is perfectly acceptable to me. Not sure if it's a generated sound or a slight whine from the electric motor, but ice cream van sound - really
  19. If the Thai version is the same as the EU version, I will be selecting the "Ice Cream Van" jingle and see how many kiddies come running at the sound 😇
  20. This story is only a couple of weeks old. In other versions Tesla is reporting to be investigating the incident - maybe we can reserve passing judgment until we have all the facts (might be a challenge for some)
  21. I have translated the article you posted and it makes no mention of the vehicle from which it comes. It does say that 99% of EV batteries do not have plastic covers. sounds like a nonsense story to me My battery is structural and is enclosed in Aluminum.
  22. You could be right - I seen online reviews saying 80% but I can't verify that information on the Thai official site. The Atto3 is quoted at 8 years/160,000 kilometers SOH ≥70%
  23. Sorry for delay in responding, but needed to book an appointment with Mrs Bander to watch together. Excellent videos thanks for posting 🙏
