  1. @Andrew Dwyer I installed the sun shade for a video, then immediately removed it and put the 2 pieces in the boot. Faced with the prospect of putting shopping on top of it I struggled to put it back in the bag, where it will now stay. I currently have no film on the glass of my car, but I am seriously considering PPF for the paintwork. I am loving the cooled seats and I don’t find the car too hot. I have a theory that dark privacy film actually makes a car hotter.
  2. I hope you don’t plan to run your ICE car down to empty as the tank has all sorts or nasty gunk at the bottom that can ruin your engine. ICE car owners are kidding themselves when they look at their range indicator because the figure assumes running the tank down to empty which is a stupid idea. As I’ve mentioned before, EVs range is based on “usable range” Battery capacity is quoted net and not gross, even at 0% battery the battery isn’t empty, ICE cars are not that sophisticated. Electrons don’t go bad, but fuel does. Modern fuel contains Ethanol that can cause storage problems, water problems, and engine problems over time due to the corrosive nature of the fuel. It can degrade rubber and plastic parts in engines and fuel lines, leading to costly repairs. Ethanol based fuel has a short shelf life lasting only up to three months, less in hot and humid conditions. Unlike pure gasoline, ethanol-based fuel easily absorbs moisture, which can lead to contamination. Ethanol increases gasoline vapor pressure leading to fuel starvation, this issue is particularly bad in hot weather. If you live in a hot humid country like Thailand you are better off driving an EV, particularly as ICEs are so inefficient, only 30% of the input energy moves the vehicle the remaining 70% is heat and noise. Let’s face it “Suck Squeeze Bang Blow” just sucks
  3. Do you have a link? Done a search and just got generic car touch up paints
  4. I want to talk about paint. I’d like to compare the paint on my MG HS PHEV and my BYD Seal. The MG has a hard clear top coat which got badly scratched by our puppies. I used Turtle One & Done which is a ceramic polish/paint restoration produce, which I applied and buffed with polish pad on a battery powered polisher. Before: After: Within 500km of driving my BYD Seal I got a stone chip. There doesn’t seem to be any clear coat, but what looks like a colored vinyl wrap instead of paint. Normally I would expect to see a white color undercoat, but it’s black. I don’t see anyway to repair scratches and stone chips on my seal. I am seriously considering paint protection film. These videos are unlisted on my channel Thoughts?
  5. BYD Seal Glass Sunroof Sun Shade The first video of me fitting it is here: https://youtu.be/ayE0prjuWXw
  6. EVs in Thailand Jan-Oct +702% v ICE in Thailand Jan-Oct -19.2%
  7. Not really, just a fancy timer. No boost button Maybe we’ll get the Ionic 5 N when Hyundai starts importing EV here which does and it also has fake gear changes with the appropriate noises for petrol heads
  8. No sorry I can’t. Both the app and the charger stations I’ve seen do not state when peak and off-peak times are. I’ve called the helpline and the times I was told was wrong. I did research online and found an old bulletin that stated weekends are off-peak. I tested this and was charged ฿5.5 I haven’t tried charging before 9am on week days
  9. You are right, the car was less 95% and yes the manual says 95% for best result. Will do another run when I have the chance

  11. BYD Seal AWD Performance Launch Control
  12. I popped into BYD Buriram and showed them this post. Apparently I am the first to ask for this update. They said they would talk to Rama 2 on Nut to find out how to do it
  13. BYD Wall-Box Team arrived - they were a bit confused I already had a wall box and a V2L station
  14. I just posted what they just told me, but I think you are right
  15. Just called the call center 9am - 4pm is off-peak which seems to be a lie
  16. There are different prices for peak or off peak. Maybe I’m going blind, but I couldn’t see the times
  17. Ice Cream Truck 🚐 or Spooky Forest 👻 available and definitely no updates. I have chosen spooky forest as I don’t want small children to come running when they hear the ice cream truck coming round the corner. But there is hope….
  18. I was planning to do a video on the mechanical key, but as it requires 2 hands I will have to schedule an appointment with my assistant camera operator
  19. Most EV owners don’t tend to think of the ToryGraph when looking for actuate information on EVs, it has an appalling reputation. Case in point this totally debunked story: As I have said several times the battery chemistry in my EV and my house batteries have a LiFePO4 cathode chemistry - not Li-ion and can be charged to 100% every day. One other factor that non EV owners clearly do not know is that when EV manufactures quote battery capacity they quote “Usable” capacity not Gross. My EV has an 82.5kWh usable capacity but the Gross is over 85kWh
  20. 16.1% of all car sales last month being full EV is very significant in my opinion. Many people are still quoting figures from 30th Sept published in an English language publication based in the capital.
  21. If you are going to spend over ฿20k on film I would also investing in a digital laser thermometer and some kitchen foil Take a sample of the film you are thinking of buying and a piece of foil and measure the temperature of both in direct sunlight. The foil should record ambient temperature, a good film should do the same
