  1. Update on Tesla Supercharger/Destination charger locations in Thailand, which are all currently located in central Bangkok. Tesla previously listed “coming soon” on it’s charger map, but that is no longer the case. Current roll-out rate is less than one location per month.  None of the chargers are open to non teslas. Tesla does have a link on it’s website for anyone interesting in hosting a supercharger location.

Seems like a pita to carry and fit that screen .

A lot of Atto 3 users have been buying that foam with aluminium foil both sides, 10 mm thick, to block out the sun, fitting it between the sunshade and sunroof , others using 80% film to keep cool .

I was thinking about doing the exact same thing with the foam as I have still have some laying around after insulating my house.

Sunroof/Glass-roofs in Thailand make no sense at all.

  4. @Silencer

Solar PV should cost about ฿9/W

My 5kW hybrid off-grid inverters cost ฿36,000 each

    9kWh LiFePO4 Batteries ฿68,000 each

Fitting plus extra components required is extra

If you are building your house now spend some money on increasing insulation to lower electricity demand. My aircons are only 8,500 BTU

    My PEA bill last month:

Bangkok Motor Show March 2023 Answers provided by staff on the stand

    MG Maxus 9

3-row MPV with 90 kWh battery, 540 km EV range

This a product of the Maxus, which is a subsidiary of SAIC Motor that also owns MG. It is known as the Maxus Mifa 9 in China.

At the show it was available for prebooking with a ฿20,000 deposit which entitles customers to double that amount in discount. Staff at the show said that price and delivery had not been confirmed.

In Thailand, the Maxus 9 will be offered in two grades, starting with the X and the V which will add run-flat tyres, genuine leather upholstery, improved powered front seats with massage, heating, ventilation and driver’s side memory functions, VIP-style second-row captain chairs.

I had to queue for some time to see these cars as they were probably the most popular cars at the show! Due to the crowds I have included some photos from PaulTang.org  so that you can get a clearer view.

  6. One of my subscribers in a teacher at an international school in Thailand. He is planning a unit on sustainability with his students and wanted his students to interview me. I suggested that I make a video that covers my attempts to achieve self sufficiency in Thailand and that his students could  interview me over zoom after watching the video.

Anybody else working on self sufficiency in Thailand?

Driving past my local MG dealer and saw that they had MG EPs in stock, so popped in for a closer look. This is not the new shape which is called MG ES in Thailand (both models are called MG 5 else where)

The EP is ฿1,000,000 but with the government incentive only ฿771,000

    really great value.

One thing I really like about these cars is no sunroof.

Thais are complaining on the Tesla forums that Model Y and 3 in Thailand are getting too hot. Teslas come with heated seats, heated steering wheels but no cooled seats. In Thailand Black is the Free colour and you can’t even select a white interior.

I previously test drove the MG 4 which is a great car and it comes 2 trim levels

One has a sunroof and the cheaper one doesn’t  - choose wisely
