I posted it because it was a brand new review that seemed relevant to this thread as the Dolphin is one of the models under discussion. But it did seem that he was only comparing the specs without having a car.

My personal opinion is that everyone should buy Teslas.

They are actually very cost competitive, even in Thailand.

A very good friend loaned me a Tesla Model X P100D for a week while I was in Florida. I'm a believer.

Full disclosure: I own shares of Tesla stock.

Tesla model 3 Highland and model Y Juniper are both on my shortlist for my next EV, but I will also consider other cars including BYDs.

Happy to see a review by someone who has actually seen the car. TG did say the car tested was not the UK spec car and “TG will test again when the car is in the UK and update our findings”

I have posted previously that the BYD Seal has been seen testing in Bangkok before it’s launch here.

As we took delivery of our little Neta V 10 days ago I thought it time to try out a nearby charging point as so far we've relied on the emergency home charger cable.

One of the nearest to us is at the PEA near Robinson Kanchanaburi. App is easily installed but I don't like all of the personal info required with it. Money is easily uploaded to the wallet and we were of on our trip to town. First surprise it that there is only one charger on site and that one is only a slow 25kwh that charged our vehicle at 1% per minute. After 25 minutes wifey was bored so we cut it short and headed for lunch. Stats gained from the first charging point experience was that 92kms cost me 62bht...it would have cost about 230bht in my Triton.

First impressions of the Neta is that it's a perfect car for the 120km per day school run. I charge back up to 80ish % every other day. It's comfortable, quiet and fast enough for my needs and at 549k it's an absolute bargain.

    @edwinchester thanks for the post.

My MG came with a free 7kW wall charger as well as the 3kW mobile charging cable. Does Neta not give a 7kW charger?

I haven't driven the Dolphin but I do own the MG4 (X).  I think you need to drive them both, back to back, the MG4 blew me away.  It feels a lot larger than it is and is very much geared towards driver pleasure.  I thoroughly enjoy driving it and look forward to going out in it.  I do drive it quite spiritedly.

One statistic missing is DC Charging speed for the MG4, it's almost double the Dolphin at 117Kw.  Also the 0-100km/hr achieved by multiple roadtesters is about a second quicker than posted above.  The Dolphin performance looks a bit tame to me.

I really enjoyed the my MG4 test drive - very impressive car for the price.

I couldn’t find the 0-100km time for the MG on the official website, so I took a test result I found which as you say might not be accurate

the Dolphin in Australia is supposedly getting a new elongated nose (20cm) for pedestrian safety
given that Thai spec has not been revealed yet, I'd think the only RHD Dolphin or all export models for now would be made to the same spec?

The picture I posted is from the BYD Thailand website. It looks exactly the same as the Chinese market one I sat in at the BKK motor show in April.

The picture on the BYD Thailand app is also the same.

  7. Me: “What do you think of the Tesla Model Y Teelak?”

Teelak: “Ugly mak, looks like a Turtle”

Today I spot a Tesla Model Y in Surin for the first time. ”Oh look a Tesla”

    Teelak: “Model 3?”

    Me: “No it’s a model Y”

Teelak “Looks good, doesn’t look like a Turtle when you see it for real”

Model Y back on the short list ????

I like to keep tabs on what is happening in local RHD Markets like AUS&NZ as it’s likely to also happen here in Thailand.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/132314033/chinese-rival-for-tesla-model-3-makes-new-zealand-debut

“BYD New Zealand brand manager confirmed that the company is still finalising local Seal specifications and pricing, with further info set to be confirmed in the coming months. Customer deliveries are expected to kick off in December.

BYD is taking orders for the Seal over the course of this week, with those who place an order at the event guaranteed to receive their car within the first three shipments to land in the country

Overseas, the Seal is offered with either a 61.4kWh battery or an 82.5kWh battery, each packing a range of 550km and 700km, respectively. Larger battery models come with all-wheel drive, and can hit 100kph in a claimed 3.8 seconds”

Claims on Thai FB groups that a BYD Seal Wrapped in Camouflage has been seen testing in Bangkok - anybody recognize that rear?

Thanks, it might be different on H6 but on my Jolion:

Rear has 4 tapped holes, showroom only used top two so that was easily solved.

Front has 4 pads which are presumably for mounting the license plate holder ( not an additional mounting plate as in case of Atto 3 ) but the 4 pads do not have tapped holes, only dimples. I really just want to confirm I can screw self tappers into those pads .

For those wondering what i am on about, i want it to look like this:

    IMG_0815.thumb.jpeg.7420e776eb2a47d77d17200237774337.jpeg

    currently looks like this:

the temporary red plate tends to be a bit smaller compared to the white plate with all the dealer marketing on the plate holder.

@Bandersnatch ,  thank you for sharing your informations.

over a year ago, i made the decision to purchase an electric car, hoping that there would soon be

a variety of options to choose from here in thailand.

right now, many models are available within the price range of under 1.5 million baht. however,

if you're seeking a premium car with excellent performance, comfortable driving, good quality,

and nice design for under 2.5 million baht, there are currently (in my opinion) only three models

available in thailand: the volvo xc40, tesla model 3, and tesla model y.

but for me, the interior and overall build quality of a tesla doesn't feel premium at all. the volvo xc40

is a great car, but you can see it was designed as an ice car and not as an electric car!

it seems that i'll have to wait much longer than expected before I can own an electric car ...

I am looking at a similar price range and agree that Teslas don’t seem like luxury cars for the money, but maybe the Project Highland model 3 and Project Juniper model Y may be improved in that department.

I was hoping that the new BMW iX1 would be reasonably priced, but having seen the price of the PHEV version, I don’t hold out much hope for the full electric version.

Fortunately my current car is only 2 years old so I can hold onto it for a while longer while I keep looking.

Anybody unsure what NEDC stands for, it’s Not Even Damn Close on that 14kWh battery.

Yes why did Hyundai stuck Ioniq 5 on its Bangkok show stand? Staff didn't know why, super unfriendly when I asked about it

I had the same reaction - I think they were pissed off that the Ioniq 5 was getting all the attention and not their fossil vans that had nobody looking at them.

I asked if the vans were electric ????

Then said "MG Maxus 9" to my wife and left to join the crown over at the MG stand.

the volvo ex30 appears to be an impressive car. even if it has a few features

i don't particularly like, i'll put this car on my shortlist!

i'm wondering if any of you have heard any updates or rumours regarding

these cars' release dates or prices:

    - BYD Denza N7
    - BYD Seal Lion
    - BYD Song L
    - Hyundai Ioniq 5
    - Hyundai Ioniq 6

    regards, motdaeng

Agreed Volvo EX30 an impressive car and is on my list pending the price here.

    - BYD Denza N7:

The only Denza I saw at the BKK motor show was the D9  so no word yet but can't rule it out

    - BYD Sea Lion  - again not at the BKK show and it only debuted in China in April, so might be a while

    474093560_SeaLion.jpg.a64ddb38466e35815bcd873d82e8504e.jpg

    - BYD Song L

Concept  revealed in April - will be a while

    - Hyundai Ioniq 5
    - Hyundai Ioniq 6

Hyundai brought an IONIQ 5 to the BKK show but said you couldn’t buy it in Thailand, so no chance of the 6 either anytime soon.
