Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Bandersnatch replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Plugshare lists EV chargers for many different companies. You can plan a trip and if you add your EV type to your profile it will know your range and suggest charging stations. You can filter your search by plug type. When you visit a charger you can "Check in" and leave a review for others to read maybe that it's not working. To actually use a charger like PTT, PEA etc you will have to use their app to pay for and in some cases you can reserve a spot. -

Thanks @Gweiloman for the report. You have made me think about Thailand's unique situation for EVs for holidays and particularly at New Year. I live in Surin Province out in the countryside but just 1 km from a 4 lane city ring road. 10km later I can be at Robinson shopping center. On a typical journey to Robinson I will see a dozen or so cars, but at new year there can be a 4km tailback on the same road. Bangkok is where the money is and so where the EVs are. You just need to look at a charging station map of Thailand to see that. Currently there are enough charging stations for the EVs in Thailand as most people like me charge at home, but at new year it is clearly not the case. I have listed my home charger on Plug Share for anyone with an emergency. If more EV owners did the same we would have less EV range anxiety. -

On the MG PHEV when you switch off EV mode the car will choose the efficient driving mode. At low speeds the car will drive in EV only Different driving modes as shown on instrument cluster -

As many know I put a deposit down on an MG ZS EV back in 2019, but had to cancel as the free wall charger install company would not allow it to be powered just by solar. I purchased the MG HS PHEV 20 months ago. It has a 69km EV only range - we quite often drive it in the morning, charge it over lunch and go out again in the afternoon. On longer trips which we do very rarely, we charge when we stop for food. I love driving in EV mode, but occasionally use the super sports button at the lights to get the 6.9 seconds 0-100kmh I am very impressed with the car, it's fully loaded and is a lot of luxury for not much money. When I buy my next car it will be fully electric and I will tell the dealer I already have a wall charger installed. -

Tesla has been advertising for locations to build Super Chargers in Thailand and people have started to post about new locations Unfortunately Tesla has removed the “coming soon” Super Chargers from their map so we will have to wait until they are finished and operational to see the locations. -

Haval H6 PHEV range test by Bjørn Nyland -
OK looks like I was wrong then. I assume it is to do with "Black Start" With parallel inverters you have to assign each inverter a status, in my case Master, Slave 1 and Slave 2. Without batteries or a grid connection there is no way for the inverters to remember their status. The batteries keep the inverters powered when there is no solar power. If the grid goes down and there is no solar power the inverters cannot start in parallel mode as they don't know which inverter is master. Probably adding a cheap small battery would fulfil this requirement.

The free MG Wall Charger comes with 2 RFID Cards in the box. It is possible to add the wall charger to the iSmart App so that the RFID car is not required by adding the code number of the charger (see white sticker on the cable) -

1) Bug fixing was me checking the work of my installer while I was at the same time liaising with Growatt and nRuit 2) "You needed an installer because you had no previous knowledge of solar systems (if I remember correctly)" I used an install team because I didn't want to clamber onto the roof of my third floor installing PV and I could afford to have someone else do the work. You do not remember correctly, this is my second home solar setup and I have previously done solar projects on my own at my home and at my local primary school. I chose not to have someone else do the work this time. 3) I don't know. 4) wow I am very impressed you have a degree but only one? I am very happy with my Growatt inverters and the support I have received. The mobile app and web based portal are very informative. I can share online access to diagnostic data with my installer and Growatt. I can even access solar and battery information on my apple watch I am trying to help readers of this forum who might want to consider a Growatt inverter. You on the other hand want to lie about the reliability of inverters that you have had no direct experience with! I don't know what your problem is but I am done talking to you - I have added you to my ignore list.

@Pink7 I went down the same rabbit hole with regard to CAN hubs and in fact my battery supplier sent me one to try out but Growatt said it wasn’t required. I uploaded a very boring video during the bug fixing stage and it’s had over 8,000 views so clearly this is something that others are also interested in.

The Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum should be a community sharing our experiences to help others who want to learn more about renewable energy. I own three Growatt inverters and have real experience with the inverters and the support network in Thailand. I will leave it to readers of this forum who's opinion they want to listen to.

"Toyota has debuted, but not debuted, an electric version of its popular Hilux pickup in Thailand. Little is known about the specs, with Toyota Thailand glossing over battery size and power output details in a launch that was, to say the least, low-key. The assembled press corps was able to enjoy schmaltzy speeches and powerpoints from teary-eyed executives, without the distraction of any actual vehicles on show, just a couple of unconvincing mock-ups of something called the Hilux Revo BEV Concept, which resembles the dullest, orthodox pick up imaginable. It is close to impossible to conceive of a less inspiring vehicle....." https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/technology/toyota-launches-electric-hilux-in-thailand
