  1. I am a member of an MG EV forum based mainly in the UK. They say there is no plans to convert the current version of the Marvel R to RHD, but as it is based on the Chinese version of the car which is over a year old, it will soon be due for an update and that is when a RHD version is expected.
  2. I am bored of reading comments about EVs not being green. If you have an EV it is a natural next step to want to have solar. Solar panels have a useful life of 30 years so mine will outlast me. I charge my plugin hybrid every day, sometimes twice a day - saving me ฿5,000 a month I would have spent on gasohol. My next car will definitely be a full EV something like the MG Ravel R recently released in Europe. It has a 70kWh battery and Vehicle to Load so I can use the car batteries to top up my house batteries. I have recently added a few more solar panels to the house in preparation
  3. Thanks @Crossy People were commenting that my house was way too white so I added a bit of blue for contrast
  4. A picture of me and the misses after a test drive 3 years ago. Good value but not solidly constructed.
  5. My solar upgrade is not 100% complete as I am having to work around the availability of my installer. I have decided to install a Home Energy Monitoring System to give me more data. The system allows me to see when and where energy is being used in my home and as it focuses on my solar system I thought the video I made about it might be of interest.
  6. My home charger cannot be hacked as it's not online. So I can always make my own fuel at home unlike ICE cars
  7. Even on a cloudy rainy day like we had yesterday I was able to charge my EV from my excess solar production in the middle of the day.
  8. It's up and running now. Some final configuration still to do, so will post a final video in a few days.
  9. The panels are pretty standard and I purchased them at my local solarshop in Surin www.solarshop-th.com You can import the batteries directly from China https://www.facebook.com/NRUIT.Thailand but I chose to use a Thai Reseller. He is a Thai Pilot and EV YouTuber. I have known him for a while and we chat occasionally about green tech in Thailand He also imported my Growatts for me: Captain DIY
  10. Let's see how many people I can offend when I post this. BTW I am not from Oz but I think this is bloody funny
  11. Have been driving the car all through this past rainy season and it has been very wet. The regen breaking gives great confidence in the wet. I simply lift my foot off the accelerator pedal and the electric motor recharges and slows the car down, no chance of locking up. With battery weight low down it makes the car feel very stable in the corners. And yes diving through big puddles has not been a problem
  12. Photo; Solar and EV was mine, but happy for it to be used in this discussion ????
  13. I have to agree that the grid in Thailand is one of the dirtiest in the world. However, Thailand is one of best places to install solar - it is close to the equator so gets great solar all year round. Labour rates are very low, so it's cheap to have your panels fitted. For every ฿100,000 invested in solar you save approximately ฿1,000 per month off your electric bill. That same ฿100,000 sat in the bank at the current interest rate of about 0.5% would give you ฿42 a month of interest to put towards you electric bill. That's why I installed solar to charge my car and power my house
  14. Day 1 on my Home Solar Upgrade adding 10 x 535 Watt solar panels to the roof of the third floor of my house.
  15. My MG HS PHEV cost the same or less than most SUVs available in Thailand. It came with 5 years of completely free servicing and I make the fuel for free from my excess solar production in the middle of the day. There are no EV subsidies here in Thailand but it is still cheaper overall than a comparable ICE SUV in Thailand
  16. I didn't. I installed all the cat 6 during the house build - I planned to install an AP in the middle of my three floors and at the front and back of the house. I have plenty of coverage and running anymore cable now I have ceilings in would be a pain
  17. I installed my solar system 3 years ago and did three visits to Surin PEA before doing the install - They said as I did not plan to sell back there were no restrictions. After the install they then tried to tell me that 5kW was the max for single phase! I tried to explain that if I wanted to be part of the solar rooftop program that was the case but not for a stand alone system - they basically didn't know their own rules - eventually they agreed for the solar team from Korat to come and inspect my system - they passed it no problems. I tried to buy a MG ZS EV when they first came out but the home charger install company said I could not use solar to charge the car, I needed a separate supply from PEA - I gave up. With the HS PHEV 2 years later I enlisted the help of the president of MG Thailand - the install company did not have a clue about solar.
