  1. The panels are pretty standard and I purchased them at my local solarshop in Surin www.solarshop-th.com You can import the batteries directly from China https://www.facebook.com/NRUIT.Thailand but I chose to use a Thai Reseller. He is a Thai Pilot and EV YouTuber. I have known him for a while and we chat occasionally about green tech in Thailand He also imported my Growatts for me: Captain DIY
  2. Let's see how many people I can offend when I post this. BTW I am not from Oz but I think this is bloody funny
  3. Have been driving the car all through this past rainy season and it has been very wet. The regen breaking gives great confidence in the wet. I simply lift my foot off the accelerator pedal and the electric motor recharges and slows the car down, no chance of locking up. With battery weight low down it makes the car feel very stable in the corners. And yes diving through big puddles has not been a problem
  4. Photo; Solar and EV was mine, but happy for it to be used in this discussion ????
  5. I have to agree that the grid in Thailand is one of the dirtiest in the world. However, Thailand is one of best places to install solar - it is close to the equator so gets great solar all year round. Labour rates are very low, so it's cheap to have your panels fitted. For every ฿100,000 invested in solar you save approximately ฿1,000 per month off your electric bill. That same ฿100,000 sat in the bank at the current interest rate of about 0.5% would give you ฿42 a month of interest to put towards you electric bill. That's why I installed solar to charge my car and power my house
  6. Day 1 on my Home Solar Upgrade adding 10 x 535 Watt solar panels to the roof of the third floor of my house.
  7. My MG HS PHEV cost the same or less than most SUVs available in Thailand. It came with 5 years of completely free servicing and I make the fuel for free from my excess solar production in the middle of the day. There are no EV subsidies here in Thailand but it is still cheaper overall than a comparable ICE SUV in Thailand
  8. I didn't. I installed all the cat 6 during the house build - I planned to install an AP in the middle of my three floors and at the front and back of the house. I have plenty of coverage and running anymore cable now I have ceilings in would be a pain
  9. I installed my solar system 3 years ago and did three visits to Surin PEA before doing the install - They said as I did not plan to sell back there were no restrictions. After the install they then tried to tell me that 5kW was the max for single phase! I tried to explain that if I wanted to be part of the solar rooftop program that was the case but not for a stand alone system - they basically didn't know their own rules - eventually they agreed for the solar team from Korat to come and inspect my system - they passed it no problems. I tried to buy a MG ZS EV when they first came out but the home charger install company said I could not use solar to charge the car, I needed a separate supply from PEA - I gave up. With the HS PHEV 2 years later I enlisted the help of the president of MG Thailand - the install company did not have a clue about solar.
  10. Unplugged the power to the 3BB router (no internet) and the Base station changed from Blue to red. But the doorbell rang at the ringer and in the house and a video was recorded on the app - so it worked. My network setup is pretty sophisticated so it continues to function without internet access, not sure if that would be the case for everyone.
  11. I have an MG HS PHEV which I have owned for 4 months and I driven 3,500 km. I put ฿600 of fuel in it on the day I purchased it as the tank was empty and haven't filled it since. I charge it at home from solar. The EV only range is 67km - which is enough for the majority of my journeys. I often drive the car in the morning charge it over lunch and use it again later in the day. The car is very enjoyable to drive with 254bhp and 370Nm of torque – enough for a 0–60mph time of 6.9 seconds The car is very well spec'd with every bell and whistle you could want. I particularly like that the car has 4G so you can make emergency calls from the car and do "find my car" as well as switch on the aircon before you get to the car.
  12. Just asked my girlfriend if I could turn the internet off for a few minutes………. will try tomorrow when she’s out ????
  13. I looked at the Xiaomi and it was cheaper, but only 720p resolution and not waterproof while the eufy is 2k resolution and ip65 waterproof https://youtu.be/JYylhs7OCwk
  14. I don't know of a way to connect the doorbell/base unit without the app. To access the videos I scroll through videos by date on the app - pull a video and save it to my phone, then I can move the mp4 file anywhere I want like my OneDrive which I can access on my computer
  15. Either way I get an instant notification on my phone wherever I am (even if not at home) and can speak to the delivery guy
  16. In my case it's not my only video camera
  17. Just uploaded a video on my recently purchased Eufy Video Doorbell, battery powered with local video storage. No wires no fees. I am very happy with it and would be happy to answer any questions about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rflC-ULWJ9A
  18. Have a read of my blog as I have done everything you are planning to do. If you have any questions post them here EcoHouseThailand.com
  19. I am interested in the transferring to time of use rate for charging an EV overnight. The off peak rate drops from about ฿4/kwh to ฿2.63, but the peak rate rises to ฿5.79. As I have solar and batteries I won't be using PEA during peak time. The monthly service charge is either ฿46 or rises to ฿312/ month if you use over 22 KV. PEA units are in kwhs so how do I know how many kvs I am using?
