  1. LM red went up from 58 Baht to 66. I smoke two packs a day, makes me spend 16 Baht a day more.

Thats it, i move to Pakistan.

better you'll stay in Thailand but closed to the Cambodia's border:

    - L&M cigarets from Cambodia are 140 bahts the box

    - Bottle of Samsung less than 200 bahts

    - ST in thai brothels 300 bahts

  2. Excise Department Director-General Benja Louicharoen said after the tobacco excise duties on cigarettes were increased, that cigarette taxes rose to 87 per cent from 85 per cent based on the level of one baht per cigarette.

Applying the new tax rate based on volume, cheap cigarettes from neighbouring countries must pay more taxes by 10-13 baht per pack.

I suspect an huge confusion between pack & boxes: 1 box = 10 packs.

    1 cheap pack = 45 bahts yesterday

Today increase of taxes 85 to 87%:

    1 pack = 45 X (87/85) = 46.05 bahts

1 box of 10 packs = 460.5 bahts => increase of 10.5 bahts per box (or 1 baht per pack)

  3. I'm not surprised that the staff of one 7-eleven was not able to apply the new prices the first day.

I've readed all the posts of this thread, and if my understanding is correct:

    - Beers: no change

    - Samsung/Blend: +14 bahts (bottle 700 ml)

    - Cigarets: +8 bahts per pack (whatever the brand)

    Concretely in a 7-eleven:

Samsung bottle from 272 to 286 bahts

LM cigaret pack from 58 to 66 bahts

  4. If you want to purchase a house in Thailand, there are 3 main ways:

1 - Illegal way: Create a company with thai nominees. Every 2-3 years there are new enforcement of the law, in mid/long term you are sure to loose the land and money.

    2 - Legal ways:

    * Lease 30 years: Everybody has to know that you have NO garantee that the lease will be renewed after 30 years. After 30 years you may loose your good.

    * Buy the land at the name of you thai wife, but if she is a prostitute, she will may ask 50% of the value of the house and leave.

For me there are few solutions:

    - If you are single or living with a prostitute ( a girl who asks x bahts per week or per month): RENT !!!

    - If you are married with a normal thai girl, after 4-5 years together, you may think about buying a house at the name of your thai wife.

PS: In Pattaya I saw many new houses sold for the "farang" market and overpriced ! For instance 10 million bahts for a nice villa with a private swimming pool: when the farang owner want to resell, it's really hard to sell higher than 5 millions bahts (don't believe the real estate agencies). But what will happen with this new law inforcement... with more houses to sell ? This kind of villa will be sold at 3-4 millions bahts ???

  5. Yesterday I made a race with my pcx150 and 2 other bikes: one click125 and one pcx125 on Sukhumvit road (Pattaya).

We started from the red fire, closed to the bridge going to bangkok, between pattaya nua and pattaya klang, and we were going to pattaya klang. We climbed this small hill, we stoped art the next red fire (junction to soi siam country) and the results are:

    1st - pcx150 won

    2nd - click125 (30 meters behind)

    3rd - pcx125 (20 meters from the click125 or 50 meters from the pcx150)

PS: And on my pcx150, I had a girl with me, the 2 others were driving alone !

  6. Wow, good price, I got the Red Forward model yesterday and it was 56,000 including tax and insurance at Mityon.

It's look like all Mityon shops in Pattaya ar charging 10% more than all shops in the country.

For sure, next time I'll buy a motorbike, I'll buy OUTSIDE of Pattaya !

  7. Regarding the financial part, I wrote it: 2 taxi dirvers + 1 of their motorbike, they will take you at your home for 200-300 bahts, even if you are living 5km after sukhumvit in the dark side ! I do that every week, this is a fact !

    2 points are actually unclear:

1 - during songran, are the check points everywhere in Pattaya and everynight ?

2 - will the check points last AFTER songran ? is it a new policy ?

For the last point, today nobody knows ! And I suggest everyone to avoid to drive drunked in Pattaya for at least 1 month, wait & see !

  8. The market will soon be flooded with second hand 125PCXs under 60,000.

I feel sorry for the one who bought an overpriced 125 PCX end of 2011 / begining of 2012. Now the 125 model is outdated & discontinued.

This is a marketing strategy from Honda:

    - pushing the 125 owners to buy the fresh model

    PS: I bought a 150 PCX, I hope Honda won't release a 160 PCX in 2 or 3 months :)

  9. If you had seen it in real you would not.....

I bought one 4 days ago.

When I stop on a traffic line / red fire, I like to watch the faces of the owners of old PCX when they see the "150" sticker... reallly funny ! :)

  10. Pattaya: yesterday I bought one 150 PCX in the big Mition shop on South road, 79.500 bahts, 85.300 bahts all included (plate insurance...).

For the white & red model, you'll have to give a deposit (500 bahts) and wait a few days. The 2 other colors are available now.

  11. Well if you read the posts in this topic you have the answer, the PCX is the Rolls Royce of Thai scooters.

There are many much better scooter than the PCX like the Yamaha T-max etc... If you are ready to play that game, there will allways be a much better scooter if you are ready to pay 20.000 bahts more. And maybe one day you will buy a CBR 1000 ???

I think the PCX is the first step to swap from the "scooter world" to the "big motorbike world", and sorry, I don't want to crash and die in Thailand.

  12. Done!... today I paid a deposit for the Click "Street" red & white color:

    hondaclick-125i-2-640x494.jpg

48500 bahts without taxes & insurance

(I don't like the both colors of the 2 "forward" models)

Nice looking, powerfull, easy to drive & park. This model will replace the Air Blade 110 & PCX125... why should I pay twice the price for the PCX250 ?

  13. I have a Honda Air Blade for more than 5 years and I've planned to change my motorbike.

My first intention was to buy a Honda PCX 125, but today it's now impossible to find it !

I called Honda center and they told me that the PCX125 wont be continued, it will be replaced by the new PCX150 available at end of march.

The PCX125 was initially sold at 69.000 bahts and at end of 2011, it was sold 74-81.000 bahts. The new PCX150 we will be sold at least 90.000 bahts, and I doubt the motorbike wont be available until april.

I called Mityon today and they told me that the new Click 125i was available from 44.000 bahts for the "tune-up" version to 53.000 bahts for the "forward" version (same motor with alloy wheels & combi breaks) (prices without plates & insurance).

I plan to buy an Honda Click, what do you think ?

PS: I'm living in pattaya, the big size of the PCX is not a good point as well (trafic jams and not so easy to park).

  14. There is no garantee from Honda that the pcx125 will be continued in march.

The new pcx150 will be sold @ 77-82 KB.

It's looks like the will of Honda is to replace the pcx125 by the new pcx150.

If you are looking NOW for a pcx125, you'll have to visit many shops, and prepare to pay 74-80 KB ! For sure if you are buying one today, you will regret it in 1 or 2 months ! ....Or if you are wanting for a 2nd hand pcx125, wait 1-2 months, the prices will dramatically fall: the pcx125 will be obsolete and many people will sell their pcx125 for the new pcx150.

  15. The money has to be in the bank for two months.

When you apply you get a letter from the bank a day or two before stating the balance.

Also your bank book updated with the same balance.

    Thank you.

So I went to my bank too soon... ok:)

But If my balance is down 400Kb during the last 3 months, but the balance >400Kb again, just before a day the appliance (I will do a new bank transfer), will it be OK ? (with a new letter from the bank...)

  16. Hi,

Im' living in Thailand, I married last week and I plan to apply for a Non Imm "O" Mariage in 3 months.

Last week I transfered more than 400K bahts to my thai bank account. I went to my thai bank, and they gave me a letter for the thai immigration, stating that I have more than 400K bahts.

I started to pick up some money on my thai bank account, and I was ready to show this letter to the immigration in 3 months...but reading the forum I'm quite confuse now... what will they (thai immigration in Jomtien) ask me in 3 months:

    1. Only the letter from the bank dated 3 months ago
    2. The letter from the bank dated 3 months ago, and a new letter from the bank (400KB 3 months ago & 400KB today)
    3. The letter from the bank dated 3 months ago and a letter from the bank telling than my balance was always > 400KB for 3 months

Someone did that recently at the Thai police immigration of Jomtien ? What papers/documents are they asking ?

PS: If someone did the same application for a >50yo non imm O visa with the 800KB/3months statment in Jomtien, he can give feedback too, the requirement have to be the same.
