Think around 18-24 month ball park figure.
I'm not that sure, look at the last "new cases" of covid-19 in Thailand.
Thailand could be the 1st country to announce to be "free covid-19 country" before end of april.
That annoucement could be a bomb and boost the tourism this summer ! (with the condition to test tourists at the airport)
Remember how many time some people predicted the death of Pattaya ! Pattaya ever come back and ever stronger.

The online application doesn't work for everybody (including myself) with IE.
Why they dont hire 3/4 good devs to do an android/ios app that scan the QR code of the past 90 days slip ? That's only a one week job maximum.

Final Update with answer(s) (apply to Jomtien ONLY):
- A thai witness is no more required for the application
- Officers will do a visit in the next foloowing days, the presence of one thai witness (not 2 witnesses) is required, his tabian ban registered in Nongprue is not mandatory.

PS: I dont know yet if the thai witness needs to show his Tabian registered in Nongprue (as 2019). I will do a new update about that requirement.

did my extension a few days ago in Rayong and no witness required because of no child but the day after we had a house visit and was asked for a witness.
Thank you.
And about the photos, did you gave the photos you, your wife AND a thai witness ?

I did a search on the forum but I didn't found the answer for 2020.
Untill 2019 I had to come with a thai witness that had his tabian baan registered at Nongprue.
Last year they told me that the witness has been replaced by a visit.
I have to renew my extension this month, someone can confirm: a thai witness is no more required at Jomtien immigration office?

Last year they came to visit us, they were very friendly and never asked for money.
I have a question about marriage extensions in Jomtien and for people who dont have children.

Probably all scared to go out with all the police controls for alcohol????
Certainly for the expats because if they catch you twice, you will be deported/blacklisted.
PS: Maybe I wrote too long today, because I have a normal life for many years now, I'm no more interested in bars.

How did the thread get taken over by drunk drivers
Because there was a time in Pattaya when all the beer bars were crowded at 11PM (all year), everybody was a little drunk, and the police didn't bother us.

They made it an offence not to carry your passport or a photo copy of it several years ago.
Or some scans inside your smartphone. Reading that "news" i've just uploaded my last passport's stamp.
PS: also added my TM30 just in case...

Until two years ago, I lived in central Pattaya and walked to the bars, or took the baht bus or motorcycle taxis.
One guy I would see frequently in the bars drove his motorcycle to the bar, but when he left, he hired 2 motorcycle taxis: one to drive him home on his bike and the second to bring back the first!
You forgot all the healthy expats who are living in the dark side, they dont want to cross Sukhumvit on the back of a motorbike taxi (Grab doesn't work after midnigtht).
Those locals are good spenders and all stay at home now.

Thank you for the info, I've never eared about that new scam !
Another reason for expats to stay at home at night, even in a taxi now you can have problems !?

neither should you. Drinking and driving is for idiots.
I was talking about the expats who are living in the dark side.
That population was helping the beers bar to survive in the low season and regular/lower the price.
Grab Taxi DONT work after midnight ! There was a time when police close their eyes on those farangs going home after a few beers but that's no more the case.
Those regular customers have gone as the cheap & happy beer bars.... cf. the topic, Pattaya now looks like a desert after 11PM !
But you have still the option of the gogo bars... who have raised their price X2 X3 ... because they only target the tourists !

Let me fix it for you
All those (DUI) checkpoints have ruined the place for alcoholics expats too stingy to pay a taxi
5 ears ago I've started to take Uber & Grab taxi and most of the time they were not avaible after midnight. The only option was a motorsai and I was frightened to cross Sukhumvit with them... I can drive 1000X better than them after only a few beers.
Because of that problem of transport, I and my friends are no more going to Pattaya at night For that reason, the beer bars have loosed most of their expat customers in low season = less girls, less fun... so I'm not surprise that even in high season the beer bars look dead at 11PM.

The problem are the DUI check: 2 beers and you'r done:
- 1st time is just a night soi 9 + a fine in tribunal
- 2nd time and you might be deported and blacklisted ! If you are an expat, you can't no more drive & drink in bars, that's the new rule.

drived by a drunk stupid tourist with no licence and who have no clue about the drive in Thailand.
Then stay at home after 10PM ?
Too much controls/checkpoints kill the fun, everything good in life is dangerous.

Fair enough, they didn't have the right documents, but I have never been to a tourist resort that so actively looks to fleece their guests in such a way. Combine this with the murder of the town as it used to be and is it any surprise that the place is a ghost town?
All those (DUI) checkpoints have ruined the place for expats and without the expats the beer bar scene has died.
So I can't speak no more about what happens at night because now I prefer to stay at home, but during the day I can see too much traffic and many tourists everywhere, that article is wrong: the high season has started !!!

If that german tourist asked some friends if he needed to go and extend his visa for a few days, I'm sure the answer was NO... just pay a fine at the airport and that's all good.
Is he a criminal ? For me certainly not, he's just a lazy tourist on hollydays.

Any bar owner charging 220 Bht for a local beer deserves to go broke,,
When I came her to live I was lucky to get 18 Bht for an Aussie $
Now can get 20 Bht. So it is not exchange rates
Exactly, beer bars have loose their expat customers that used to be their main customers in low season.
Exchange rate is not the main reason for expats but: low quality of girls/milfs playing with their phone, expensive drinks & girls, DUI check etc... for expats today bars are a waste of time and money, they are so many other good things to do in Pattaya !
That article just confirm that bars are empty in low seasons because expats stay at home. I can see every year more and more tourists. Now wait for the mess in High Season that will start only in a few weeks !
-
More tourists in Pattaya every year and less mongers in beer bars in evening that's all I can see.
For many reasons, bars today are a waste of time and money.

When I read the comments, one more time I can read cheap tourists from the past thinking that Thailand will remain cheap and forever.
And they think that the sky will fall if they wont come anymore.
They are completly wrong, indians and chineses will replace them and even more money will flow to Thailand.

I dont know about indians but I'm living in the entrance of soi siam country club and I can talk only about chineses: 6 months ago a chinese couple has bought a pool villa 300 meters from mine. And every weeks I can see some chinese walking in my village looking for houses for sale.
Maybe less westeners with less money (= less beer bars and less people on walking street), but no problem for Thailand, the revenues coming from tourists will still increase every year.

My father tried to register exactly 10 days ago as a "juristic" possessor with copies of:
- passport
- tabian ban
- chanot (where you can read the name of the company)
- papers of the company (where you can see the name of my father)
... and he's still waiting for his username/password.
