Immigration in Jomtien will be closed tuesday the 18th, but will they also close monday the 17th ?
-
I checked and I have a Kor Ror 2 marriage registry, do I need to do a new one ?
PS: Past years in Jomtien I gave a "old" KR2 and it was OK untill now.

Thank you @ubonjoe
So in the worst scenario I'll just need to go to Banglamung ????
(but if someone did the extension and confirms that that paper is not required, it will help me to not waste 1 hour...)
PS for those who are doing their first extension in Jomtien, they have 2 special requirements:
- 6 months bank statement (not 3 months as everywhere else)
- if you dont have a kid, you'll need a thai witness + he has to have a tabian baan in the district
-
Regarding all the new rules about the 50 yo visa extensions, I have a quick question:
- do the immigration office at Jomtien requires new documents ? Nothing has changed since february 2018 ?
Thank you for your answer ????
PS: I read on the forum that some offices are asking an updated mariage certification from their Amphur and they never asked me that paper in Jomtien. Do I need to do that paper in 2019 ?

There is a really interesting investment offered at CIMB Thai: https://www.cimbthai.com/en/personal/news-and-promotions/promotions/promotion/promo-021111.html
Fixed deposit max 1 MB, 24 month
Interests = 2,4% pa paid monthly
Does that mean if you make a deposit in that bank (800,000 bahts) = 2 years visa + good interest rates ?

Immigration should introduce an easier process for the mariage extention.
Most people living in Thailand for years are married and do the 50yo extention only because the process WAS much easier.
If you are married and living in Thailand for X years and have a total assets of Y millions bahts (including the assets of your wife: house, condo, cars etc...), isn't it enough to prove that you are a "good" farang ? Why provide photos of your intimate life, bank account, bring a thai witness, have a final interview etc .. ? They should make things easier for those who have a normal life for years !
I remember that 10 years ago, they did some "surprise" visits to the married visa just in case they had a doubt about some cheaters. Why did they stop that practice ? No problem for me they can come at my home whenever they want. And they could do exactly the same thing for the 50yo visa when they have a doubt. That will be the end of the cheaters and everybody will win.

For me the minimum balance history requirement between Extensions is now :
(X) 800 800 800 / 400 400 400 / 400 400 400 / 400 800 800 (X+1) ....
That doesn't work at Jomtien Immigration.
I never update my book bank. I just update it once per year just before going to renew my extention.
It prints:
Balance last year / Total debit 1 year / Total credit 1 year / Balance today
IF (Balance last year - Total debit 1 year) > 800,000 AND Balance today > 800,000 THEN it proves that your balance has always been > 800,000 bahts for 1 year
BUT NO they can not do the math, they want the detail / balance of all the transactions during the last 3 months !

If one doesn't update one's passbook for over six months, then the detailed transactions aren't printed - only a summary of the transactions.
In that case you can ask your bank to print a bank statment for the last 6 months.
That's what I'm doing every year, they charge me 100 or 200 bahts (I forgot the fees at Khasikorn Bank...).

I just hope that it will be an easy process, just to update your book bank and show it every 90 days.
In Jomtien they want all details of every transactions ! It means that you need to print your book bank every 10 transactions (only the last 10 transactions can be printed).
After 10 transactions, you have 2 lines printed : total debit & total credit.
If they can accept and do the math: balance before - total debit > 800,000 & balance today > 800,000 bahts then it will be fine and easy for us.
-
If you dont want to waste your time and update your bank book every week, can you open a fund deposit account with 800,000 bahts and show that paper every 3 months ?
What's the best option to make it easy ?

There is a contradiction in the OP
...
but then:
The new requirements to keep 400k baht in the bank for three months after the retirement visa is granted is effective from 1st March 2019.I think you'll need to bring your (updated) bank book with you when you'll do your 90 days notification.
Even for people who did their extention visa end of 2018, then after 1st march they will have to show a balance > 400,000 bahts during the last past 3 months.

But why can't they do things easier for people doing their extention for more than 5 or 10 years ?
In my own country (France) we give the french ID card for thai people living more than 7 years.

With that new law if I cant smoke on the beach, then I wont come anymore.
What people do they want on the beach ? Nuns with 20 bahts in their pocket ? Why not...

So with your test kit you can measure Total hardness - Total chlorine - Free chlorine - Total alkalinity - pH and Cyanuric acid?
- "Total Hardness"; as long you didn't use a lot of chemical products, your water wont be "hard"
- Free Chlorine: as long as you pH is low and even a little acid in a tropical country as Thailand (pH < 7), then the "Total Chlrorine" indicator is enough
- Total alkalinity = Total hardness
- pH never more than 7.2 -7.3
- "Cyanuric acid": for what ? When you have a salted SP you don't need to use a lot of acids, so the CYA is always low
What I"ve read yesterday is that black algaes like salted SP and that the "free chlorine" wont kill those algaes. Only copper sulfate can kill those algaes but dont use it too much or you will have green hairs :)

Well, I'm still using Uber in Pattaya today as usual. Nothing has changed. All this are just words?
Me too last night I ordered 3 Uber Taxi, no problem.
The single thing that will change: "Taxi Meters" will have to turn on meters
What Im' seeing in the future:
- still taxi motorbike service for short trips
- taxi meters in tourist areas, sometime they will refuse to turn on the meter (as Bangkok): some tourists will agree in high season, thai people or regular tourists or expats will take the next one or order Uber
- Uber with be even cheaper if Taxi Meters turn on the meter
- Traffic will be better in Pattaya, less drunk drivers, more expats living outside of Pattaya will come and party (I know MANY people that have stoped to come in Pattaya at night because of DUI check + no Taxi service at night... except motorbike taxis... but who will agree to take a motorbike for a long distance at night ?)

As Sappersrest said before, get a decent test kit and it's FREE chlorine level that is important to keep killing of the algae.
No more black algae.
I have good test kit:
- salt 4.7 gr/L
- PH = 6.8
... but I've stll have new black algaes.
Yesterday I spent of lot of time on Google, what I've founded:
- Copper Sulfate is compatible with salted swimming pools
- Chlorine can not kill black algaes, Copper Sulfate is mandatory with a salted SP
- Copper Sulfate kills alguaes, but you have to take care about the volumes: fist time only a glass for a 100m3 SP, then every 2-3 days only 2 spoons untill they are killed. For maintenance no more than 2-3 spoons per months
I'll try it tomorow and post here the result.
-
Up !
Unfortunately the black algaes are coming back !
(the black algua algaecide bottle @2000 bahts was a temporary solution)
Maybe Copper Sulfate is best and cheaper solution ?
But as I asked before, is it 100% safe ot use Copper Sulfate with a salted swimming pool ? (I really scare to domage my electrolysis)

But it's a great place to live...
Yes but I dont want to die because of a drunk taxi motorbike driver and for twice the price of a safe & clean Uber taxi.

Thai autorities have to stop that mess !
Last night I was out with my wife. I didn't want to drive car/motorbike because we wanted to party and drink.
When we wanted to book an Uber Taxi to go back home, the Uber driver said on the phone that he can not pick us in soi Diana because it was too dangerous for him !
So we used 2 motorbike taxi to go back home: unsafe (motorbike + both drivers were drunk) + 2 X 150 bahts = 300 bahts (instead of 130-140 bahts with Uber)

Did they ?
A Thai Friend here owns a Thai music bar and when I asked him yesterday what the increases would be he said he did not know yet.
You cant compare a single thai bar with the groupe Big C (10 billions baht net income) :)

I doubt the website guys at BigC worked the weekend just to update the new alcohol prices.
They know the new prices for weeks.
They only needed to press a button friday night at midnight, all the articles's prices would have been updated in less than 1 second (shops + online).
Same for 7-eleven, familly marts etc... all the cashing machine are linked to internet.

We just had our delivery of our normal bar order. Boxes of everyday big beers have gone up by 10 to 15 baht per box and sangsom had gone up ten baht.
Only that amount for 24x beer pack and 12x Sangsom pack, that's not even +1 baht per large botlle of beer or Sangsom ? Add also +1 baht for L&M cigarettes... false alert one more time ?

So, take a look ..
As I and 2 other members just wrote today, the retail price of beer cans have not changed (Retails Shops: 7-eleven, mini Marts + Online: Tesco, Tops, Big C).
Sangsom bottle also still at the same price.
But... bottle's beer +2 bahts & L&M cigarettes +1 baht
