back on samui and would like to know if anyone know where the temple fair that moves to different temples are located at the moment and possibly which days they are open.
Last time when we where here in march it was at the temple up near traffic lights in fishermans village.
Would like to show some friends something else than just the standard walking streets.
Thanks in advance.

Sad the traffic situation on Samui is so dangerous, but i think the situation for bicyclists all over the world is pretty dangerous.
Here in Denmark we have about 30 bicyclists or so dying each year after accidents on the roads, so even in countries where there has been done a great deal of work towards safety for bicyclists, people still die on the roads.
I would love as a tourist on Samui to be able to rent a bicycle and drive around the island to see places we have never seen before, but i'm to afraid to get hurt on the roads, that it always end up in taxi if we want to go somewhere.
Wish Samui had some form of public bus transport system on the ringroad other than the overpaid "sorry meter is broken today" taxis and Songthaews where it's never certain how much you have to pay.

Maybe Bright Knight Customs that recently opened up not to far from mommified monk temple do car designs too?
They do hydro dipping as a speciality.
I have seen some of the work they did on helmets with hydro dipping and it looks totally awesome.

What's next?

Hmm perhaps why one of my batteries on charge died the same day ... Where to buy a surge protector for my laptop on samui?
Maybe a bit late but saw they had some for sale in family mart lamai near pavillion.
So maybe other family marts across the island have them too?

Always had a few singha or mount blanc when going out on my regular vacation fishingtours with Mr Tu or using the boat down to Koh Tan.
Will miss that if they do ban all alcohol on boats.
And if they really mean all boats, maybe they could start boarding a few of the huge cruiseships and confiscate all their alcohol on board and see what happens

Seems that tourism is still good for many areas, as it is hard to find places to stay... Not just on Samui, but parts of Koh Phangan and Koh Toa too!
Sure seems like there is more tourists this march compared to last year.
Been 6 days in Mae Nam and had to look for other restaurants several times because the usual ones were full.
Now been 5 days in fishermann village and looks like a lot of the restaurants are very busy at night.
Off course some very empty too but overall quite a lot of people.
Going to lamai for 12 days tomorrow and will be fun to see how busy it is compared to the last cople of times.

This is a usual market that moves around the island to the various Wats and other locations. It usually lasts about 7-10 days then moves on. It in not part of the Fisherman's Village walking street market.
Ahh ok. Thanks.
Good to know it is there several days in a row because then we can revisit it tomorrow before going to lamai
Is there any place online to see where it is moving all year around, so we know where to find it again?

Hey all.
Paid a visit to a market yesterday evening in bophut near the traffic lights and was wondering if that is part of the normal fisherman village walking street.
Was a mix of merchandise, food, live music, fun things for kids/teens ect.
I found that market to be more interesting than the standard walking street, because it seems like there were more local food and the place had more thais visiting than tourists.
Is that place open every friday, because that would be worth a visit again when we return.
A few pics below from the market.

Traffic sure is heavy at times on Samui and as a pedestrain it's not always fun crossing the roads in certain areas on Samui.
Maybe it's time for a few well placed pedestrian bridges as the ones in Bangkok?
Actually i love those bridges in Bangkok as they let us cross the roads safely, instead of having fingers crossed and pray to live another day.

Isn't where the video starts at the Rose Garden?
The bungalows and entry /white house in the start reminds me of Mira Mare, but could be wrong.

So sad
If miracles can happen i wish for one now.

Real shame what happened on Noi.....sitting at Stone Beach restaurant watching the moonlight bouncing off the surf used to be an evening joy......
What has changed?
Never been there before, but when we were on Samui this July, we were recommend Thong nai pan beach area by other travellers on our hotel in Lamai.
So we booked a week next year on Thong tan pan resort, but now i wonder if that is a good thing or bad thing.

I think the transport minister should visit Koh Samui and see if their meters are working because no one turn them on.
Crazy flat rate prices the taxis on Koh Samui are demanding.
400 Bath for a 5 minute drive from the Airport to Chaweng.
I would be more than happy to use a lot more taxis on Koh Samui if they started using their meters, and i'm quite sure they would make more pr day because of more customers, but that off course would mean they had to work for a living instead of sitting on a bench all day long screaming taxi taxi at everyone walking by.
Love Thailand and next trip is planned and paid for, but some things could be improved and they could start with forcing all taxidrivers to use their meters,.

I'm not sure i would have the balls to report a taxi driver when you have to tell your name and such.
Not sure if that info would come into the wrong hands, and maybe other people are afraid of that too.
Maybe that's why noone "bothers" reporting them?

Mouahahahahah !!!
Complete bullshit !!!
Some so-called taxis-meter do have the 50 bahts overcharge sticker , but ......... They dont HAVE METER INSIDE THE TAXI .....
Enjoy the show ;-)
Next thing will be that they charge their normal 400 bath from airport to Chaweng and then add 2 x 50 bath on top of that and try to convience people that's the way things are working now.
-
Don't mind the 50 baht entry fee.
Not sure what i think about the additional 50 Baht fee that covers "overhead costs"
I also wonder how many drivers that will make detours on purpose to get more on the meter, instead of driving the fastest route like before so they could end their journey asap.
Will be interesting to hear about what the prices are in near future, compared to prices like they used to be.
Anyone took a metered taxi from Chaweng to Nathon allready and know what the price is now?

Hi guys... On Samui for a couple of weeks... Any recommendation on a good italian pizza in Chaweng area...?? After 3 weeks in Isan I fancy a good italian pizza... Many thanks...
I would pay the italian restaurant called Duomo a visit.
Best pizza i had on Samui so far.
Not cheap but damn good pizza.
It's on a side street on Chaweng beach road near starz Cabaret.

Lastly a big thank you to Virt, for some interesting seeds..... some I have taken to the local hydroponic farm to get them germinated!
You are velcome.
Will be interesting to see which kind if any of the different sorts of tomatoes will do the best.
Good luck with the growing.
Who knows. Maybe some of them are really suited for this weather but only time will tell
:-)
Silly signs around the island? Seen any - got any?
