  1. Thanks for your reply Virt but I never play killer....I like playing pool whether 8 ball or 9 ball but killer is not pool!! Lol

    HL

hehe you're right, but if there is a killer night, there might be ordinarry pool tournaments also?

To bad i didn't get a photo of the league list last time. They had a list on the wall with all the bars attending the pool league.

  2. If a change in needed from Thai food, Babu's India Hot restaurant on Maenam resort road, still consistently good with his Indian food...thumbsup.gif

It's just about opposite the new turquoise blue green hotel being built!

Eat in or free Home or hotel delivery... drop by for a delivery menu!

    They also rent motor bikes!

Sounds like a place worth visiting when spending a few days in Maenam.

Which end of Maenam is it located at?

We're staying near this spot if that helps.

  3. Samui Rock Cafe has sadly been sold and demolished, so no chance there anymore for Killa tournaments :(

Gonna miss that place and the cool people there, when we get back for this years vacation.

Maybe Premier sports bar in Bangrak do something similar?

I know they used to do Killa tournaments on fridays, the day after they had quiz nights.

  4. Yep that's a good price...thumbsup.gif

I think the others nearer 2000 baht range... the price one pays to be in the fast lane! biggrin.png I am not sure but you may get more stops along the way with the speed boats... either way it is an enjoyable trip ...as long as the weather is good!.... wink.png

I prefer the tours with the slower boats.

Just sit back and relax, enjoy the weather and shoot some videos, photos and have a beer or two ;)

We once took a speed boat tour to Ko Tao, Koh Nang Yuan.

Ohh boy what a bumpy ride and everyone inside the speedboat were soaking wet.

  5. You wouldn't have the ferry/boat price for that tour, would you by any chance?

I found their website, but i don't know if it's updated with prices etc.

Tour nr 2 is the one we took because we didn't want to kayak, and that was incl fee to angthong and hoteltransfer by minibus.

The price is listed to 1300,- bath pr person but i think we paid 2400,- for two where we always buy our tours at tour agent on corner next to dentist at our hotel, Samui natien resort.

Even 1300,- bath is pretty cheap in my opinion, when it's including transfer from hotel, admission fee, and a lil lunch and something to drink.

    But have a look see.

  6. Dive Supply (300m short of Bkk Samui Hospital on the other side coming from Chaweng Post Office) have neoprene 'carpet slippers' with sturdy soles to minimize the chances of swimmers stubbing their toes or stepping on anything that hurts.

    HTH

Yeah i always wear such kind of shoes after 2011.

    .

Never found out what happened to me, but it felt like someone shot me with a speargun or drove a knife through my foot, blood pumped out from the side of my foot, and the next 4 hours or so at the hospital it felt like

my lower leg was in flames.

The day after my foot started to swell and i got red markings on numerous places of my foot.

Would be nice to know what actually happened.

Might be a little bit off topic, but hopefully still suits in this thread.

Don't want to end up like this one more time.

  7. Ever since i had an accident with my foot at Chaweng beach maybe 50 meter out at sea in 2011 and went to hospital, i'm always a bit worried when entering the sea.

Has there been any incidents lately or is it still a good idea to pack some vinegar in my beach rucksack just in case?

Or maybe just carry it around if it should happen to someone else.

Coming back in March, but can't seem to find out if those jellyfish has a season or not.

    Thanks.

  8. Going through older pictures and this one still makes me smile even if it's not a spelling error.

But i guess when you drink Coca Cola, you have to go sooner or later :)

But i'm sad that they have demolished that cozy restaurant area near Mitra, Stonefish, Pee soon and built some truly ugly buildings now.

Hope it's ok i throw in a few from Bangkok since there is no funny sign thread there?

i'm a bit worried what kind of soup they serve in the restroom ;)

Atleast they are honest in this restaurant.

  9. I think it depends where you buy your tour, if it's included or not.

I can't recall paying an additional fee when we went to Ang Thong, but that was two years ago.

A nice tour though, and if you have the stamina i recommend taking the tour where you can climb the mountain on Wua Talap island.

Took my breath away, both the climb and the view on top of the mountain.

Be sure to bring enough water with you, because you can't get any on the way up/down.

Maded a little video from the trek here if interested.

quite a nice video of ang thong national park, although I liked nang yuan and ko tao tour a lot better because maybe I wasn't prepared for the hike up those stairs or more appropriate ladders to get to the top, do you have anymore clips of the local tours?

If i can find the time, i can see what i have on my HD's and put something together.

The only thing I will add here, is yes, the park fee, is 200 baht per person.... but some companies provide the opportunity to rent a kayak.

You have a choice, of doing that or walking up to a view point or seeing some caves..(no extra once park fee is paid .... depending on which Island they stop for lunch) ...or may include that in the initial price perhaps that is where the 500 baht comes in?.... (kayak rental) Both provide snorkeling equipment too..

The two main companies providing this are Lomlahk and Grandsea... Grandsea provides pop or water during trip and sea sick pills, if you think you need! (One has to take before leaving!) .. all these companies, provide pick up and drop off service to from Hotel in price.

Lomlahk has two terminals, one near Maenam Lomprayah ferry terminal, the other at Ban Rak, Grand Sea only in Ban Rak,... now....

There is another company in Nathon too, but I have not used, and don't know the name or anything about them...wink.png

We used a company that ended in Nathon, but i actually can't recall if it started out in Nathon, but i think so.

Was very pleased with that tour, and the guide we had was absolutely great.

Here is a picture of the boat we used, maybe that is the companys name.

The boat is not very fast, but we enjoyed the time sailing out to Ang Thong.

  11. Some of the not so deadly wildlife i encountered during my stays on Samui smile.png

Caught on a fishing trip with Mr Tu, but thais on boat, said "NO TOUCH".

No idea what it is, but it didn't look like something we wanted to touch anyway.

    post-138525-0-81713500-1390743331_thumb.

    Also caught on fishing trip.

Seems like Thais do not eat these eels, because they threw them out again when we caught them, but here they are sold for about 1500 Bath a kilo.

Not sure if it's the same type of eel we eat here in europe.

  12. Curious about something.

How are the local Thais on Samui dealing with the political issues in Thailand right now?

Saw a youtube video couple of weeks ago, what looked like yellowshirts had some sort of caravan with motorbikes/cars driving around Samui.

If things evolves for the worse, is it also a good advice to stay away from these kind of things, like the advice is in Bangkok for tourists, or is it safer on Samui?

Tried to read up as much as i could here on TV about the political issues, but it's not easy to find out what is right or wrong.

I hope they settle their political problems without any more bloodsheds.

  13. Thanks for the comment Virt... .. (and Absolut too in his post ^ ) I some times wonder if I post a tad too many!!!! ? whistling.giffacepalm.gifbiggrin.png .....I'll use the photo section more... unless appropriate....wink.png

Yours are great too!... thumbsup.gif... I cannot figure out where they are though....?... other than the airport ...

No pics today.... but at least things are calming down .... Maenam beach almost calm late this afternoon ..... and there was sun today... thumbsup.gif Hope it lasts a while this time!

It's still a little chilly for us acclimatized folks!

Hope weather gets better when we arrive in march ;)

Staying 5 days at Maenam and 11 days at Chaweng at our usual hotel and then 5 days in Bangkok is situation has settled down a bit, but our first time in Maenam, so will be fun to see a new place.

    As for the 6 pictures:

    Samui airport.

    View from Buddha's footprint.

View from our hotel room at chaweng looking out over Chaweng/Matlang

Coconut oil seller 1 Km away or so from Butterfly garden on the road to Kamalaya

    Taling Ngam beach south end.

Bang po on the beach near a lovely restaurant. Chan Hom or Jun hom or something like that.

  14. Is there any reason why the planetickets are skyrocketing if the numbers of tourist are decreasing?

We bought our roundtrip tickets from Copenhagen to Bangkok with Thai airways several months ago, and paid about 60,000 bath for 2 round trip tickets and fly march 2.

The price for two similar tickets in same plane are now priced at 155,000 bath!

Shouldn't it be the other way around if tourist are staying away?

  15. Did anyone mention "bum guns"... They don't even sell them in my home country, you have to buy a complete bidet! Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Thought about buying one of those things, but i don't think it's the same feeling when using them in a cold climate country hooked up to the cold water :)

But i must admit, in Thailand when i got the "Hurry hurry, my stomach makes Thai curry" then a bum gun is actually pretty neat.

Always have some sort of problems with my stomach when in Thailand, but i blaim it on all the cold beers ;)

  16. What i have in mind bringing home from our trip to Samui/Bangkok.

    Panko bread crumbs,

    Tempura flour,

    Various seasonings for thaifood.

    Palm sugar.

All 4 things a lot cheaper in Thailand than here in Denmark.

Maybe not the normal things to bring home, but most likely also end up buying some of the usual tourist T-shirts with imprints from Samui and Bangkok.

Last year bought some cool beads in China town, for making plaice fishing lures and in

MBK we bought a couple of very cool and very large seashell mobiles.

1 of them is more than 1 meter tall and weighs 4 Kg, and i can't imagine what it would cost here in DK compared to BK.

  17. Following the news on daily basis, but for now i don't see any reason, why we should cancel our planned trip to Bangkok in March after staying on Samui.

Sounds to me like tourists are pretty safe in Bangkok as long as they just listen to the advices given.

Off course things could change, but we hope the Thais solve their problems peacefully without any more getting wounded/killed.

  18. There are so many beautiful beaches on Samui and some of them are hard to find and not full of people, but it requires you to drive around and look for them.

Why not rent a car and drive around for a few days while exploring the island?

That way you always come across something not described on various tourist sites, and it's an adventure in itself.

Just be careful out there in the traffic.

    Enjoy your stay.

I wish we could stay for 3 months, but we have to settle for 3 weeks at a time.

42 days and countng down .......

    :)
