Does that have to be a Thai bank card, or can it be a card from back home?
-
Why? About a dozen witnesses have produced documentary proof that Biden received payments from foreign companies. One of them fibbed. That leaves a dozen minus 1. I can't wait until he's no longer shielded as a sitting president. Nothing they can do between now and January 20 will matter if the senate won't vote to impeach him. Dems wouldn't dare vote that way, even if he was on tape with a severed head in one hand and a bloody machete in the other. After Jan 20, the gloves can come off. Then it's about evidence, not politics. Reading the House and the Hur reports, they have evidence in spades.

British mother’s tourist warning after drugs kill daughter in Thailand
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The saddest thing is that she was probably queued up behind a dozen other tourists to buy the junk, so she figured it must be safe. In any case, I'm glad that I never made any mistakes on holiday when I was that age. And yes. That is sarcasm. I'm just thankful that I survived worse (and dumber) mistakes. Condolences to her loved ones. -
I wonder what the going price is for a grandfathered Elder card? They never ask to see ID to top mine up...

Cats have long been associated with promoting wellness
impulse replied to Rimmer's topic in The Wellness Zone
As I mentioned above, the vet had the female on a low ash diet for urinary issues. They both ate the same low ash food. I think it was Science Diet, but that was a lot of brain leakage in the past for me to remember. Long before you could Google stuff like that. -

As I recall, the vet had recommended a low ash diet, but for the female. Both of them lived very long lives. I just don't think he liked me, though I treated both of them quite well. Edit: I'd add that the female invariably pooped on the seats whenever she got in the car. Probably because that meant she was going to the vet. That's another smell that never comes out. But we always put them in her car. -

Nope. He was fixed. So was the female. -

My experience is different. My ex had 2 cats, and the male would often pee in the back bedroom, especially if I was sleeping there, banished from the Queen's bed. And that smell never comes out of the carpet. Edit: After the divorce when I sold the house, I had to give the buyers $4000 to replace the carpet. That was real money back in the '90s. -

Trump’s big fat abject lie …and why he keeps telling it.
impulse replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Off the beaten track
The gist of that article (and the narrative) is that mRNA's have been around since the '70s and have been thoroughly understood and tested before Covid came along. That's misleading, if not patently false. The Phase 3 clinical trial was designed to determine if the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective in preventing COVID-19 disease. This trial began July 27, 2020 and completed enrollment of 46,331 participants in January 2021. About Our Landmark Trial | Pfizer It will be years before we understand the long term side effects of the mRNA genetic experiments. Which is another misleading narrative. The "vaccines" aren't vaccines in the traditional definition. They are genetic experiments. They changed the definition. -

Was Ex police officer Derek Chauvin wrongly convicted !
impulse replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
The MSM catches up, eventually... Schaetzel suggests Floyd died due to a high level of catecholamines — a neurohormone important in stress response, associated with the flight-or-fight response — or Takotsubo myocarditis, a heart condition that develops in response to an intense emotional or physical experience. Motion allows George Floyd's heart tissue to be examined in Derek Chauvin's latest challenge to federal conviction - CBS Minnesota -
I just kept using my Elder MRT card. I've topped it up several times in the past few months. No new card required. I don't think I'm getting the discount any more, but it's still cheap transport. And if I ever leave Thailand for good, I'll give it away with whatever baht are left on it. Edit: I don't know for sure whether I still get the discount. I assumed that since the card is tied to my foreign passport, their system would be smart enough to debit the correct amount.

Thanks for the first hand info. One of the features that intrigues me about the NEO is that there are 4 ways to control it. 1) No controller, it follows pre-programmed routines 2) Phone app alone (limited range) 3) Manual controller with phone screen 4) FPV with the dorky goggles. Range and speed depend on the mode... My inkling is to look at buying the pack that comes with the 3 batteries and the manual controller for smartphone screen. That's 11,700 on Lazada from stores that have physical shops, where I'd look at them in person. That's about the same price as I found online in China here, so I figured I'd buy one (or not) on my next monthly trip to Thailand in about a week. I don't know the licensing requirements here in China, but there's quite a group that gathers in a local park to fly drones. Up to 2 dozen people with drones in the air at once. I figure I'll be good in that crowd. And they seem to be having a blast. My big concerns were video quality, noisy props, and gremlins that the reviewers may be glossing over. (Keeping in mind that they may be compensated.) I also understand that it's really a toy to me, but I want to get into the DJI platform which does some amazing things, even at that low price point. If I decide to upgrade later ($$$), I'm already on the learning curve. Regarding speed, that also depends on control mode. With a maximum speed of 16 m/s, that's 57 KM/Hr, which far exceeds my needs: Obviously, there's a zillion YouTubes, and I just got around to watching one I downloaded last month in Thailand (hence, the wild hair idea...) But YouTube is blocked here so I Binged up some reviews (Google's blocked, too). Here's just 2 that compared similar priced DJI's: DJI Neo vs. DJI Mini 4K: which drone is better for you? DJI Neo vs DJI Mini 4K: which drone to choose? There's a lot more that compare the NEO to the Mini 4 Pro, but that's a whole different price range. Anyway, thanks again for you first hand input. Edit: And I appreciate the others warning of the legal pitfalls... The rules are much different than when I had my monster sized cheap drone that I flew off the roof of my apartment in Asoke.

Trump’s big fat abject lie …and why he keeps telling it.
impulse replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Off the beaten track
That little bit of revisionist fantasy fails to mention that there were virtually no human trials using mRNA's, until Covid created a case where they could claim that the potential benefit justified the risks. The only case previously was in Africa, and the drug companies didn't spend the $$ millions on trials there because there's no profit in curing poor people. It's more like "follow the money" than the science. -
Just out of curiosity, is that 7:17.9 a good time? The 243 MPH is impressive... With a motor on each wheel, it can also turn around in its own footprint. Which is more of a curiosity to me than a useful function. Still interesting. Their U8 SUV is rated to float and drive for up to 30 minutes in deep water. Another interesting but not really useful function for most of us. Still- if you get caught in one of Thailand's floods...

If you wanna see some EV Eye candy, look up the Yangwang U9. I think I saw one at the EV car show in Bangkok a few weeks ago at QSNCC. It was gorgeous, and it had a 0-100km/hr time of around 2 seconds. At the time, I didn't recognize the name Yangwang, so I didn't pay a $250K USD car much attention. Yesterday found out that's the BYD premium line, along the lines of Lexus/Toyota. And it's a production car, not some fly by night prototype. I'm still not in the market for a $250K supercar, but if the doctors gave me a year to live, I'd buy one tomorrow and have some fun. The UK EV show ("Fully Charged", I think) compared it favorably to some $3 million supercars. That may be hyperbole, or it may not.

Living the Thai life: Kingdom rolls out red carpet for big spenders
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
My nieces and nephews all have kids of an age where I can't imagine explaining to them what those are. Especially the hot pink ones that are over 12" long... Which makes it uncomfortable for a family walking in most touristy areas. -
Some people just can't wrap their heads around the correlation between how they voted, and what they got. California (and Dem) policies work great for zillionaires and the urban poor who depend on the freebees. Not so much for the middle class. And even the urban poor are looking at the poop maps and crime and getting fed up.

It'll be years before we know. That's why they call them "long term side effects". But if you believe some of the early studies coming out that indicate one death per 800 shots, and extrapolate that over the billions of shots, it may be millions. I'm looking forward to RFK Jr, Musk and his AI skills, and DOGE to look at all the data, with no holds barred.- 200 replies
