  1. There's a pretty good chance one of them doesn't remember. Before I took the oath in the 80's, I did lots of stupid stuff I that I didn't remember the next day. It's called blackout drinking. You're perfectly ambulatory, but don't remember a thing you did. Not to be confused with pass out drinking, where you're not so ambulatory.
  2. Wow. And that, after several posters advocating 20 years in prison for the bus driver...
  3. Regardless of legit or not, without the papers, you can't get it registered and insured.
  4. I placed a couple of dozen orders from vendors on AliExpress during my time in Thailand. Never got shafted, and rarely had to pay any import duties on items under $500 USD. I used my K-Bank debit card. Delivery was sporadic, but generally 2 weeks. I quit doing COD even on Lazada after my first few transactions came in fine. It was a PITA to sit around waiting for the delivery guy and making sure I had cash laying around. Back then, there was no other way to pay the driver. There may be other payment methods available today. In well over 100 orders from Lazada, I never really got shafted, either.
  5. If you go back to the original post I've been responding to, the poster claimed that doing business in Russia was risky because there is no rule of law and they're confiscating airliners. Here, you're claiming that there are laws that allow it. I'm just saying you can't have it both ways. If you're going to confiscate Russian assets, don't complain if they confiscate western assets.
  6. And I contended that seems pretty reasonable, given the amount of Russky stuff that's being confiscated around the world. I don't support Putin, or his war in Ukraine. But if you confiscate Russian assets, you have no right to complain when they confiscate western assets under the same rules. Or rather, a similar violation of the rules.
  7. Make you a deal... You quit posting racist tripe, and I'll keep my fingers off the keyboard.
  8. The yachts are not an implement of war, nor do they belong to the sanctioned gub'ment. Taking them from private citizens with no due process is a violation of law. Seems only reasonable that the Russkies can hold onto Western assets if those are the new rules.
  9. In the 7 years I lived and worked in Thailand, the elevator always came when I pushed the button, clear water always came out when I turned on the tap, the lights always came on when I flipped the switch, my pickup never fell into a sinkhole, my interweb always worked, and my cell phone always had a signal. Most, if not all, at a price significantly less than back home. Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of what it takes to keep those systems running would recognize your statement as racist tripe. Meanwhile, in Florida, a condo fell in on itself...
  10. Which rule of law allows EU nations to steal $600million yachts from private citizens? Can't have it both ways.
  11. Did it stay green?
  12. So, what you're saying is "I'm all right Jack. My family's fine". Unlike the millions of Thai families that depend on tourism to put food on the table. That's why restrictions and lockdowns are also popular with gub'ment employees, who never missed a single paycheck on account of their decisions and policies. Not so popular with millions of families... There's millions of us that would love to return to Thailand. But won't jump through the barriers to entry, nor risk the draconian treatment that could happen if we tested positive somewhere along the way. (As if that would make things worse than they already are) Customers that don't have a compelling reason to return, but would happily spend our time and sweaty tourist cash in Thailand...
  13. Google's door is in California. They still paid out $$ billions in fines to the EU.
  14. But that's simple. Buy a test kit (they're about $10 in the USA) and test yourself. Anyone who tests positive and still hops on their flight knowing they'll be tested again on arrival is an idiot. It's self policing...
  15. Except that those ranting warriors are either going to make or break the Thai economy... The hospitality industry calls us "customers". And most of us have seen the opening up and its benefits where we live. Folks in Thailand are pretty well insulated from what's going on beyond the borders.
  16. Millions of unemployed Thai people would disagree, many of whom lost their life savings when their businesses closed. It's easy to call for lockdowns when you've already made your nugget and stand to lose nothing by staying home.
  17. There's no money in a cure for beauty. The inventor of a cure for ugly could be the world's first trillionaire. (Beer doesn't count)
  18. Wacko is destroying your economy, putting millions out of work, and bankrupting millions of small businesses to reduce deaths by 0.2%. Next time you go out, look at the people around you. Some of them have Covid. If they allow tourists in, the same number of people around you will have Covid. And the other people around you will have jobs to support their families.
  19. Expect a knock on the Asean Now door for posting a photo of someone advertising alcohol?
  20. My oil company had a base in Songkhla and I would have moved there in a heartbeat if they had let me. I always tried to make my trips to tack on an extended weekend and a day or 2 of vacation time. The weekend market is a lot of fun, they keep the beaches (generally) clean, the street food is amazing, and it's very family oriented. Don't go if you don't like Muslims, but I found them to be extremely friendly. If I decide to retire to Thailand, Songkhla is high on the list of places I'd move to. Edit: That's Songkhla the city. The rest of the province, I don't know. Shopping is better in Hat Yai, but that didn't interest me once Lazada started up.
  21. That's 300 passengers, not 300 flights. The airport may pay out anyway (for someone) when drug lords land their unscheduled flights... It would be interesting to see a motion activated CCTV on the runway.
  22. If you're flying United, call United and ask what they require to board their aircraft. Anything else is guessing. Maybe a good guess, but why risk it? Edit: Keep in mind, the requirements to get on an aircraft in one country may be different than the requirements to get off the plane in the other. Or maybe not. But again, why risk it?
  23. Sometimes, I just want a chunk of ground up cow... With fries.
  24. https://www.hca.wa.gov/health-care-services-supports/apple-health-medicaid-coverage/individual-adults What makes you believe that would cover him for a pre-existing condition?
