I placed a couple of dozen orders from vendors on AliExpress during my time in Thailand. Never got shafted, and rarely had to pay any import duties on items under $500 USD. I used my K-Bank debit card. Delivery was sporadic, but generally 2 weeks. I quit doing COD even on Lazada after my first few transactions came in fine. It was a PITA to sit around waiting for the delivery guy and making sure I had cash laying around. Back then, there was no other way to pay the driver. There may be other payment methods available today. In well over 100 orders from Lazada, I never really got shafted, either.

If you go back to the original post I've been responding to, the poster claimed that doing business in Russia was risky because there is no rule of law and they're confiscating airliners. Here, you're claiming that there are laws that allow it. I'm just saying you can't have it both ways. If you're going to confiscate Russian assets, don't complain if they confiscate western assets.

And I contended that seems pretty reasonable, given the amount of Russky stuff that's being confiscated around the world. I don't support Putin, or his war in Ukraine. But if you confiscate Russian assets, you have no right to complain when they confiscate western assets under the same rules. Or rather, a similar violation of the rules.

The yachts are not an implement of war, nor do they belong to the sanctioned gub'ment. Taking them from private citizens with no due process is a violation of law. Seems only reasonable that the Russkies can hold onto Western assets if those are the new rules.

In the 7 years I lived and worked in Thailand, the elevator always came when I pushed the button, clear water always came out when I turned on the tap, the lights always came on when I flipped the switch, my pickup never fell into a sinkhole, my interweb always worked, and my cell phone always had a signal. Most, if not all, at a price significantly less than back home. Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of what it takes to keep those systems running would recognize your statement as racist tripe. That's why restrictions and lockdowns are also popular with gub'ment employees, who never missed a single paycheck on account of their decisions and policies. Not so popular with millions of families... There's millions of us that would love to return to Thailand. But won't jump through the barriers to entry, nor risk the draconian treatment that could happen if we tested positive somewhere along the way. (As if that would make things worse than they already are) Customers that don't have a compelling reason to return, but would happily spend our time and sweaty tourist cash in Thailand...

My oil company had a base in Songkhla and I would have moved there in a heartbeat if they had let me. I always tried to make my trips to tack on an extended weekend and a day or 2 of vacation time. The weekend market is a lot of fun, they keep the beaches (generally) clean, the street food is amazing, and it's very family oriented. Don't go if you don't like Muslims, but I found them to be extremely friendly. If I decide to retire to Thailand, Songkhla is high on the list of places I'd move to. Edit: That's Songkhla the city. The rest of the province, I don't know. Shopping is better in Hat Yai, but that didn't interest me once Lazada started up.

That's 300 passengers, not 300 flights. The airport may pay out anyway (for someone) when drug lords land their unscheduled flights... It would be interesting to see a motion activated CCTV on the runway.

If you're flying United, call United and ask what they require to board their aircraft. Anything else is guessing. Maybe a good guess, but why risk it? Edit: Keep in mind, the requirements to get on an aircraft in one country may be different than the requirements to get off the plane in the other. Or maybe not. But again, why risk it?
