  1. You're demonstrating a very poor understanding of the scientific method. The scientific method is a systematic process used by scientists to explore questions and test ideas. It typically involves the following steps: Observation: Making observations about the world. Question: Formulating a question based on those observations. Hypothesis: Developing a hypothesis or educated guess to answer the question. Experimentation: Conducting experiments to test the hypothesis. Data Analysis: Analyzing the data collected during the experiments. Conclusion: Drawing conclusions based on the data and determining whether the hypothesis is supported or refuted. You should have learned that on day 1 of your first lab class whether that was in physics, chemistry, political science or economics or business science. From the OP: The paper claimed that having individuals sign an honesty pledge at the start of a form—rather than at the end—led to more truthful responses.
  2. Conclusions This study found that influenza vaccination of working-aged adults was associated with a higher risk of influenza during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season, suggesting that the vaccine has not been effective in preventing influenza this season. Summary Among 53402 working-aged Cleveland Clinic employees, we were unable to find that the influenza vaccine has been effective in preventing infection during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season. You must be living in upside down Bizzaro World.
  3. The fact that I have reviewed papers for 40+ years is why I recognize standard boilerplate language and weasel words like "not peer reviewed". That study wouldn't have seen the light of day if it weren't true. That's something else you learn when you get paid to do studies.
  4. It would also go a long way toward making sure nobody builds new properties to rent.
  5. Color me cynical, but I doubt we'll be seeing refunds or apologies from Big Pharma. And they're immune from lawsuits.
  6. What do you think "the science" is if it's not observational studies? I have a mechanical engineering degree from one of the best schools in the US. My disdain for "the science" comes from 40 years of publishing and peer reviewing studies that were deliberately slanted to make something look better or worse than it really was. That's how the science works in real life.
  7. Some transit points will make you collect and recheck your bags. Especially if it's a long (or overnight) layover or a change on airlines. Some will pass them through and you never have to touch them. I'm just curious why they got nailed in Spain, but not in France. That would be interesting information in this case, but I doubt they want to clue in any copycats that may want to try it on.
  8. All of your "parts" were fully developed before you got the shot. We won't know how the shots affect the important parts of kids for 20 years or so, when it's their turn to pop out babies. That's the nature of experimenting with RNA. We just don't know. Like we don't know what's causing the horrendous increase in autism in the USA. I'm glad we finally have someone at the helm who's curious. The guy that looked at the risk of Covid to kids and said, no more.
  9. Yup. And in 20 years or so we'll know the long term side effects of the experimental jabs. My forecast is that the unjabbed will be referred to in the future as "breeders". But I do have some wingnut ideas.
  10. Did Big Mike finally kick him to the curb?
  11. I can see where they wouldn't scrutinize transit luggage. Especially if it's going straight through and not claimed and rechecked. But that's a guess on my part.
  12. Me, too. (Though I prefer IBT's.) But that's not an appropriate look for a sophisticated indoor scene.
  13. I hope you're not one of the posters we lose, like we have lost several over the years. I've got no issues with folks who choose scooters for economic reasons or personal preference. I ride scooter taxis all the time for that last mile. And I do other activities that some would characterize as "risky". I just hope we do it with knowledge of the risks of our choices. BTW, before anyone gets mad at me, scooters are what we call any motorcycle. Even those with 454 Chevy engines.
  14. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not about to see if they're furry down there. I still can't get that scene from The Crying Game out of my little pinhead. And that was what, like 20 years ago?
  15. Or my favorites, 2 tons of steel and seat belts for those of us who can afford them. 20-40x less dangerous per km than riding a scooter. I can't change Thai driving habits. I have neither the right, nor the ability. I can just protect myself from them.
  16. I don't understand the animosity. I don't mind the Thai heat index because I can sweat like a pig and nobody cares. She's gotta look good all the time when she's working. That's tough when it's hot and humid. Plus, she is kinda cute...
  17. I did the best I could in around 2017, but I had to do some of Malaysia by bus because my journey coincided with a national holiday and the trains were booked on that side of the border. Some by train, some by bus in Malaysia Spent a night across the bay from Penang and a day bopping around Penang. That was good. Then I spent a couple of days in Songkhla town because I love the place. That was great. I highly recommend Songkhla town and Samila beach. But the train from Hat Yai to Bangkok was miserable. I couldn't wait for it to be over. In fairness, I was in cattle class with just a hard sleeper. I don't recall if there were upgrades to nicer cars that I may have missed because ticket selection was limited on the holiday. I'd do it again only if I intended to make interim stops along the way for a few days in some of the fascinating locales along the way. That would be a great trip. But not all at once... I wonder if that will be feasible when the train goes through from KL to BKK?
  18. Still waiting for the deep dive into the bank accounts of the staffers who ran the autopen. I wonder how they priced out the pardons. Was it by years left on the sentence or just based on wealth?
  19. That must be hell on ladyboys. Oops. Are we still allowed to call them that?
  20. I'd rather see them focus on the violations that put other (innocent) people at risk. Like riding down sidewalks, blowing red lights, unsafe passing, etc. Protecting people from themselves is a fool's errand. Cops should protect the rest of us.
  21. Wasn't I reading yesterday that Samui is inundated with tourists on account of White Lotus? Right here on AN...
  22. Got curious so I looked it up on the Toyota website... Can anyone spot the discrepancy here?
  23. Some of the oldies are classics. Others didn't age so well, and it makes me cringe that I was a fan back then. Mostly for the eye candy I told myself... Mod Squad, anyone? Miami Vice? Adam 12?
