Having been both a speedboat operator and a rowboat/canoe/kayak operator, I can confirm that rowboats can change direction on a dime, and speedboats can't. It's not unusual for a slow boat to change direction unexpectedly and turn into the path of a speedboat, causing all kinds of problems. It was over twice the online price (650baht vs 260baht), but I'm still all in at $45 for a camera that cost about $500 new. So if you have time to order online, that's the way to go. I used to buy assorted camera batteries on the same floor (the camera floor..), but that shop's gone. They sold mostly Nikon, so it's not surprising they're not there any more.
