Ask ICE. More than 13,000 immigrants convicted of homicide here or abroad are living freely in the U.S., ICE says During a campaign stop in Michigan on Friday, Trump used the data to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris for current immigration policies. “I can finally look at them and say ‘I told you so,’ to the fake news,” Trump said. “These are hard, tough, vicious criminals that are free to roam in our country.” https://www.cnbc.com/2024/09/28/immigrants-ice-report-thirteen-thousand-homicide-us-border-migration.html

Linear actuators? Quality criteria? Where to buy?
impulse replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
If you're near Bangkok, there are shops around Khlong Thom market in Chinatown that specialize in linear actuation (motion). I'd head over there to see the goodies live in person, even if I planned to order the parts online. I've occasionally ordered mechanical stuff that was either way bigger or way smaller than it looked in the photos. The corner I marked has one such shop, but there are others scattered in the area, and in the bowels of the Khlong Thom market. -
Ultralight flight carry on luggage.
impulse replied to Asquith Production's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I don't know if it's going on in Thailand, but there's at least one cut rate airline in the USA that's blowing up on the interwebs for stationing a grouchy lady at the carry-on measuring template in front of each gate. If the bag doesn't slide in and out freely, she sends them over to pay for excess baggage. It's a new cash grab revenue stream. Rumor has it, the grouchy ladies make a bonus on every fee... But I doubt it. I think they're grouchy because even they don't feel right about it. -

I've actually taken mine on several flights as a "purse" in addition to my hardside carry-on. I keep waiting for them to call me on it, but so far, so good... Of course, that depends on the airline. -

I bought mine at Decathlon Sports. They have a great selection, a warranty, and decent pricing. If you want an even lower price, just about every street market and mall in Thailand has hawkers of backpacks and laptop bags. This is my favorite for real trips, though I have some of their cheaper laptop bags and they're all good. https://www.decathlon.co.th/en-TH/p/hiking-backpack-32l-nh-escape-500-quechua-8649351.html Edit: It has a separate sleeve for laptops, very convenient for getting through security. -

And I'm sure she's 99.99% insulated from the effects of higher food prices, immigrants taking her job, and crime outside of her security perimeter. -

Are the Repubs trying to dictate what car I can own, how to wash my dishes, who I need to hire and promote and on and on...? Perfect example, the current mob is suing Elon for not hiring immigrants at Space-X, while at the same time, they're threatening to fine him if he hires non citizens because of national security. They're suing Sheetz (Gas stations) for doing criminal background checks on the people they hire to interact with the public in the middle of the night. They claim that's racist... I like the idea that my loved one won't be interacting with a felon in the middle of the night. -

Native Americans in the old west movies would refer to that as speaking with a forked tongue. I support Trump, because the Dems have become the extremists. It's no longer the party of Kennedy, or even Bill Clinton. Hillary Clinton, for sure... -
You're kinda proving my point that just because there's a law against it, doesn't mean it's not happening. And with all the NGO tax money being spent to provide ID to illegals, it's not hard to imagine that a lot of them are also being registered to vote at the same time they sign up for a driver's license and free stuff.

They're not allowed to rape or murder people, either. But here we are... Arizona provides a case study for the long-running attempts by Republicans to prohibit noncitizen voting. Under a 2004 voter-approved initiative, Arizona required a driver’s license, birth certificate, passport or other similar document to approve a federal voter registration application. But the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that Arizona cannot require documentary proof of citizenship for people to vote in federal elections. The state responded by creating two classes of voters. For state and local elections, voters must provide proof of citizenship when they register or have it on file with the state. But because that cannot be required in presidential and congressional elections, tens of thousands of voters who have not provided proof of citizenship are registered only for federal elections. Just wondering how Arizona (or any state for that matter) can pinky swear that non-citizens are not voting in federal elections if they can't even confirm whether they're citizens? https://www.ap.org/news-highlights/elections/2024/illegal-voting-by-noncitizens-is-rare-yet-republicans-are-making-it-a-major-issue-this-election/

Thailand’s Business Ease Ranking Plummets in Asia-Pacific: Survey
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When I came to Thailand to work, they asked me what title they should put on my business card. I told them not to use the words "manager" or "director", lest I get caught up in a FCPA prosecution. (Or tossed in jail when there was an accident, which almost happened to our country GM) I don't know how any US company does business in Thailand without getting caught violating FCPA. I guess the key there is "getting caught". -
I discussed that turd in another current thread: You mean that bill that allowed for 5,000 illegals to enter every day before it required any border action at all? The one that proposed hiring thousands of agents and judges for the express purpose of letting them in faster? The one that was totally unnecessary if Biden had just used the executive power that Trump used quite successfully, and Biden rescinded in his first week? Is that the one you mean? That DOA load of crap? And I didn't mention the included Ukraine and Israel funding, that needed to be (and were) handled as separate decisions.
