  1. In defiance of Trump, I think Nato should put troops on the ground in Ukraine. Sure. Let's start with your kids. Front line. It's time for the killing to stop and the rebuilding to start.
  2. If the US Gub'ment declares someone a terror organization, I'm not allowed to object to that in public without risking imprisonment? If Hochul bans the Confederate flag, I can't protest that ban without fear of imprisonment? That's a legitimate protest against the gub'ment, and that's absolutely allowed by the First Amendment. Slippery slope, especially in lefty areas where they can easily shop the venue and empanel a jury of lefties. Who feel threatened by someone wearing the wrong hat or T-shirt.
  3. I've never sent any food back, but I have left some Thai food on the table when it was too spicy for me. I just order something else. That's just one of the risks I accept when a wimp like me eats out where even "not too spicy" is too spicy for me. I'd do the same if they brought undercooked meat. (Though I don't recall that ever happening.) I'd order something else and leave the undercooked meat on the table. It's not like it's going to affect my finances. But when some Thai workers are making 300 baht a day (or less), it may make the difference between a good day and a bad day for them.
  4. The ones that cheez me off are the ones that do look, but then they look away pretending not to see me coming. Happens a lot at intersections.
  5. Let us know how the stuff chckenslegs recommended works out. I've always just used a razor scraper to remove silicone. Works perfect on glass and ceramic. Works okay on metal. But it's risky on painted and softer surfaces.
  6. All over the USA, cities are charging taxes on airline tickets and car rentals that are used to build stadiums. The tax isn't used for the airports. That's just how they decided to collect it. So it's called an "airport tax". Because you don't pay it if you never go to the airport. (Personally, I think that's a cowardly way to get voters to approve a stadium to be paid for with other people's money, but that's another topic and a pet peeve of mine) If anyone's just doing a border bounce to Laos or Cambodia, they probably shouldn't have to pay another fee. But that's probably a drop in the bucket. I doubt anyone's going to take that route for their initial arrival into Thailand just to save $9.
  7. I think that's the modern equivalent of Bread and Circuses. We're watching the big screen and the little screen and that's distracting from the horrible decline of the quality of real life. Where you can't even walk down some of what used to be the most cherished parts of many cities. That's definitely true in the US, and seems to be the case across the pond.
  8. How much of that stellar GDP performance came from tax money being thrown against the wall to see what sticks? You may recall that Biden also added the national debt at twice the rate that Trump did. (Barring that one year when Covid struck) What you're describing there is a sugar rush. It wasn't organic growth. It was gub'ment spending. With little or no long term benefit. But paying it off will take a long term.
  9. That's what I thought at first. But how would they prosecute the offender without exposing the hookers he's attacking and subjecting them to legal penalties for hooking? I'm hoping they're going to deal with the guy unofficially. Out back, and with extreme prejudice.
  10. That's Trudeau's game, and Trump is pushing back against it. It may be a while, but most Canucks will be thanking Trump before it's over. Business will be humming, oil and gas (and money) will be flowing and normal Canucks and Yanks will both do better financially. Except the freeloaders.
  11. So, nothing to add. No information. Not even an explanation for your belief. Just a personal attack. Loserthink.
  12. Valid point, but usually they refer to an ankle bracelet as an ankle bracelet. Not as a bracelet.
  13. I always presumed it was their penchant for being far more reactive and rarely proactive! Perhaps they want to discourage freelancers. Why else would a Thai woman follow a strange foreigner into his hotel room? Usually, protecting them is a pimp's job. If they're freelancers with no backup, they're on their own. It sucks, but such is life in that seedy world. I'd add that it's probably tough to make a case in a he said- she said situation like that. Edit: I'd also add the sensitivity of prosecuting him for attacking hookers while turning a blind eye to hooking. I suspect the guy will be dealt with "unofficially". With no public fanfare. The Thai way.
  14. That's what they said about running black candidates. They were wrong. Americans will elect a female president. But they have to run a non-toxic woman if they want to win. And not a DEI.
  15. Hard to say. Usually, police electronic monitoring devices are on the ankle. I suspect they may be confusing a smartwatch. Which is another type of EM.
  16. Collecting firewood or illegally selling protected hardwood?
  17. For years, the right has questioned the viability and the wisdom of electric cars. We've objected to the gub'ment subsidies. But we didn't burn anything down. Now that the left is cheezed off at Musk, they're burning TESLA charging stations. Arsonist sets fire to Tesla charging stations: Police Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO, and his company have faced backlash in recent weeks. From ABC News... Arsonist sets fire to Tesla charging stations: Police - ABC News
  18. I'm betting on Trump. No buffet has ever defeated him. Oh. 2 T's. Never mind.
  19. Prison terms just for holding a flag is a scary proposition. The start of a very slippery slope.
  20. This coming from the same guys who said inflation isn't Biden's fault, it's happening all over the world. Wouldn't that mean that the UK middle class is also being hollowed out, and they're not making the additional coin to compensate, like the Yanks? You can't have it both ways. As much as the lefties try. I've been hearing lately that the EU economy today is only 60% of the US economy, and when the EU was formed, they were about equal. I don't claim to know what numbers they're referring to exactly since EU countries have come and gone since its inception. But it sure seems to reflect that bad policy is dragging the EU down.
  21. So which of the Dems in the photo are moderates? I don't see any. Maybe if they put Fetterman or Shapiro up there...
  22. Here's them getting caught, when Musk offered up a free Cybertruck to anyone who could identify the author of the Dem talking point. You won't find this on CNN or MSNBC. BTW, Cory Booker fessed up to being the source.
  23. No. It's diverted into the general fund for whatever the gub'ment wants to spend it on. Which makes it a Ponzi scheme. Some of it is actually paid back to placate existing investors (retirees), but that's what Ponzi did, too. A lot of it just disappears into the ether. Like trans surgeries in Guatemala and drag queen story hours in Slobovia.
  24. I had to question my memory, looking at the photo in the OP. I lived and worked around Asoke for years and don't remember any part of Khlong Toei that looks that scenic. Then I noticed it's a stock photo. I liked shopping the market, but it was extremely grungy and smelled funky. I hope they don't destroy what a lot of us love about Bangkok in the name of "improvement". They're actually doing some nice improvements in Chinatown, and I hope they continue the ambiance into other areas. And that they don't burden the vendors with huge rent increases.
  25. The Ukrainian and Russkie kids sitting on the front line, just for a start. I'm sure they'd like to live.
