  1. You'll find very few name and shame posts here because telling the truth is not a defense in Thailand against a defamation lawsuit/ criminal trial. If you publish anything that harms their reputation, they can sue you. And win, even if what you said was true. Perhaps even have you arrested. They also have the home court advantage.
  2. I'm trying to recall how many times the sidekick got stabbed by the Thai gang, while the guilty guy quietly slipped out.
  3. One guy would be living in the banana tree and the other guy would be living in a thorn bush. Been that way since they learned to climb trees.
  4. Money may not make one happy. But lack of money can sure make one miserable.
  5. Another lefty celebrating the death of someone, just for disagreeing with them.
  6. I like the guy because he seems to follow the data. I did a search on him last time I had Google and YouTube (I'm in China now where they're both blocked) and his earlier YouTubes were very pro-vaccine. But as the data have shifted, so has he.
  7. If you're handy and know how to search YouTube, you can buy one on Lazada for 50 baht (wireless, using your smartphone for display) or 400 baht (stand alone unit, with display). I keep one in the glovebox of my 23 year old Toyota van. Look up the code it's throwing on YouTube. Even if you don't repair the car yourself, you'll have an idea whether the repair guys are trying to cheat you. Oops. TimeMachine posted his advice while I was typing...
  8. Offer them 100,000 baht a month and see if they will. And if they will, that means the only reason they won't do those jobs is because the availability of cheaper migrant workers drives the wages down. Most people would scrub nasty toilets with a toothbrush if the pay was good enough. But not for migrant wages.
  9. Can you get genuine shellac in Thailand (made from ground up bugs...), or is it a petroleum based substitute?
  10. Certainly you're not claiming that Asean Now is a Moron-Free-Forum.
  11. Sorry. You're behind the times. Lia Thomas is still intact, and she swims on the women's team. Nowadays, all you have to do is claim to be a woman and you're transgender, with all the associated protections. I don't like it either. But I don't make the rules. Saw an article today about a person with a beard suing Walmart because an associate asked him/her what he/she was doing in the Ladies' room. It's crazy.
  12. Go to Amazon and search "candy vials"
  13. Yeah, but they need an OBD reader to reset the check engine light on the lemons they're selling. I guaranty you they have one on onsite and know how to read it.
  14. My 4 month wait was due to my insurance situation. Very few dermatologists in the network and the fastest I could get in was 4 months. Before I could get in, I found myself in Thailand (missing my USA appt) so I made an appt at Bumrungrad and got in that same day. But my sister, in a different network, makes her dermatologist appointments 6 months in advance so it may be my location in the Houston area.
  15. Perhaps "sweets" is the new code word for doobies?
  16. Wow. Don't sugar coat it. Tell us how you really feel...
  17. 6. Apply Protective Finish: If you prefer a clear finish, choose a polyurethane or varnish suitable for wood. Apply thin coats of the protective finish using a clean brush, roller, or sprayer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying time and sanding between coats if necessary. If you prefer a clear finish, priming and painting isn't in the cards. So you can't do steps 4 or 5.
  18. If you were in the USA, I'd suggest a polyurethane varnish or a marine spar varnish. But I just don't know with rubberwood. We don't get much of that... I'm afraid the natural sap of rubberwood may react badly with varnishes that work great on oak or maple. Hopefully, an old Thai hand will chime in soon. BTW, for polyurethane or spar varnish, I'd start out thinning the first coat with about 10-15% mineral spirits to make it thinner, so it gets absorbed deeper. Then a second coat with full strength varnish. Doesn't sound like you need more than 2 coats.
  19. Agreed! Still can't make up my mind who was actually pulling the strings on it all. Certainly had nothing to do with people's health or well-being. Red voters tend to vote in person, on the day. Blue voters tend to vote by mail. I'm forecasting a "rinse and repeat" scenario, regardless of how much it hurts the economy. But that requires a new threat.
  20. I'd point out that if you perform steps 4 and/or 5, you can't do step 6.
  21. The issue is, that with a "recommendation" from the WH, that gives the wingnuts running a lot of companies and institutions permission to mandate vaccines. Like, for example, Rutgers. Among many others.
  22. Foster's solved that problem nicely. With their 10w40 cans.
  23. Don't just look at their % fee. Also pay attention to the exchange rate. Plus any fees your bank back home is going to add. Then compare that to your cost of getting the amount in cash (unless you have THB laying around).
  24. If I'm in the USA, I'll just get some fentanyl. Not kidding... The problem is, will I have the presence of mind to know where I hid it? Plus, that requires breaking the law while I still have the facilities to act. Can't wait until it's too late to get out and buy some, and I'd never ask anyone around me to risk jail to help me.
  25. I don't recall the last time I was at a beach (or a pool) that allowed glass containers, for that very reason. I do recall the 6th grade when I stepped on some broken glass in the water and badly slit my foot.
