What's amazing is that Big Pharma spends $ billions every year on advertising to get their message out. The MSM had a hugely "safe and effective" slant (driven, I'm sure, by Big Pharma advertising $$). Social media spent years squelching any hint of anti-vax. The vast majority of "the science" has been funded by Big Pharma. Yet, over half the people in the US aren't buying it. We know when we're being peed on. The moneyed interests have been caught in too many bald faced lies. We're believing the guys with tiny budgets, a sincere message, and a genuine desire for the truth.

I've witnessed that myself, though I think some of them were shopping, too. I'd be curious how many Thais cross over to shop and see the sites in Malaysia vs Malaysians crossing the border into Thailand.

I just remember that when I managed some piddly websites in the past, I had to test them with all the popular browsers to make sure they behaved the way I wanted them to. Even the add-ons like ad blockers made them behave differently. And, of course, IP location also has an effect when the countries block certain capabilities. For example, I can't see YouTube or X or any social media links from China here. Just what I call the placeholders, to let me know what I'm missing.

That's true, confirming my contention that Israel isn't really a strategic US ally. We just have common interests. Fewer now that the US is energy independent and a net exporter of oil and gas.

They have more plans for the rest of the money. It may be wishful thinking, but I was hoping they'd use it to spruce up the tourism infrastructure to attract a wealthier group of tourists. Maybe more nice sit down toilets and trash receptacles. In fact, I was hoping they'd use the reset after Covid to quit going for tourist numbers and pivot toward fewer tourists that can afford to spend more money per pop. That would also reduce wear and tear on the resource. I can't envision the current state of things being sustainable over the long term. That's something that mass tourism markets all over the world are finding out. And the locals are protesting to that effect.

I just know that Thailand claims they had to pay 400 million baht one year to reimburse hospitals that treated foreigners and didn't get paid. You make good points, and I admit that my reply was pretty flippant. My biggest concern is the possibility of an accident or a false flag operation sparking off WW3. If Russkies are deliberately sending over armed drones to attack Poland, of course they need to shoot them down. But I'd hate to see Armageddon start over a drone going off course (by accident or by deliberate radio interference) or a Ukrainian false flag trying to get NATO involved by sending a drone over the Polish border by way of Russkie airspace.

If they did the smart thing and just buried it in the air ticket prices, nobody would even notice. And those that did pay attention to stuff like that would still see that the Thai taxes on airline tickets are still a lot lower than the taxes on the Europe or US side. And I get a lot of guff for saying this, but I'm not sure they'd miss the tourists that would change their international travel plans for $8.50.

Not cheap at all. They wanted us to recognize the value of the insurance we were receiving. That doesn't happen when they give it away for free. And if we had to pay 20%, we were less likely to bitch and moan for a more expensive policy than if we got it for nuthin'. It's the same reason they had co-pays. If it was covered 100%, employees would use it for trivial issues.
