Why Zelensky Won’t Bargain Away Crimea — No Matter the Pressure
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It still is. Just a little smaller now. But probably just as corrupt. -
Bow your head with great respect

If you're talking about Judaism and circumcision, isn't that the same religion that banned pork, probably because they figured out that eating undercooked pork didn't work out so well? And that the wives of circumcised men suffered fewer "social diseases"? Whether either of those ended up being true, there's methods behind what may appear to be religious madness. Based on the science of the day. -
They're deliberately confusing vetted legal immigrants with those who have come legally and found employment in the health care field. Personally, I don't want an unvetted illegal caring for my loved ones. I'd love to see them invite more and make the process easier for those with skills we need. But not the ones that are going to end up costing (According to Mayor Adams) $36,000 a year per head.

One of their problems (as I see it) is that any reasonable candidate that isn't on "the list" isn't going to make it through the primaries, if they even make it to the primaries. And right now, "the list" consists of a bunch of wackos that don't have anything beyond Orange Man Bad. Harris was a perfect example. AOC, too. They gave away the 2024 election. It was theirs to win if they had put up a decent candidate. But the decent ones were primaried out. In favor of a guy that everyone knew even then was cognitively incapable. Instead of finding their voice AGAINST Trump, howza 'bout finding a voice FOR Americans?

Wow. I'll betcha that was cathartic. But you're supposed to write it all down then burn it in a campfire on the full moon. I think there are some chants that go along with that. -
All 3 of them in the past 2 years. That's the number of measles deaths. Out of over 300,000,000 people. (CDC numbers) And they're dying from measles because we invited millions in from the 3rd world without vetting their health or vax status. At the very same time we weren't allowed to go out to eat.
-
Agreed. 25 million deaths over 15 years. That's basically a rounding error in the projections. News flash. We could save 25 million people in one year if we spent all our money on saving people in other countries. But we're broke. In debt to the tune of $35 trillion. A lot of that debt being from do-gooding around the word. But my question is why the US is being singled out? If more money would save more people, why isn't every country spending more? Why is it that the American taxpayer is to blame?

Mayor Pete tells dems to stop being A-holes

See? All I hear is fingernails on a blackboard. -
Trump ostracized at pope’s funeral I wonder if they all brought him a pie later when nobody was looking? For the clueless, it's a Blazing Saddles reference.

I was paying about that for my relatively small Bangkok apartment with 2 A/Cs. But that's mostly because I chose to live on the top floor of a 5 story Asoke area building (that's rare in itself). The view, access to the roof, and having no noise from upstairs neighbors was worth it. YMMV, obviously.

But if you don't win the election, none of that matters, does it? -
All Vaccines Will Kill You - The evidence is overwhelming

While I'm pleased that we are finally able to discuss the topic, I'll also be pleased when the statistics are better attributed and understood. The problem I see here (the OP) is that the comparison is the death rate in a vaccinated populace, which may be very different from the death rate if there were no vaccines. That may indicate very different best practices. In another post, someone claims that the death rate for measles is 3/800 which is the death rate of measles patients, but not the death rate of the average Joe wondering whether to get the MMR or not. That death rate is 3/350,000,000. But that's the death rate for a mostly vaccinated populace, confusing the numbers even more. Someone else claims (accurately) that the death rate for rabies is 100%. But that's not the death rate for people who have been bitten, only those few who contract rabies. And definitely not the death rate for the average Joe whose odds of even being bitten are miniscule. I'm just hoping RKK, Jr and his team make some sense of the data that is out there, but not being honestly compiled, collated and reported. Whether that's to push a narrative, sell a product, or just because there are a few hacks in science that think they're geniuses. -
Of course it isn't, common sense should tell you that, do some research and come back to the table From a power cost standpoint, you are correct. But if you have barely adequate cooling capacity, you may have to leave your AC running all the time to reach and maintain your desired temperature. I don't know anyone who installs enough cooling capacity to keep a Thai house at 20 C without running all the time. Long story, I once had an apartment in Corpus Christi where I had to leave the AC running when I was at work because if I just turned it on when I got home, the temperature didn't drop until long after my bedtime. I complained to management and they sent guys over to test the system and told me tough noogies. It's working fine. And it was sized according to the prevailing specifications for that size apartment. That was before programmable thermostats became so common. Had I been able to turn it on a few hours earlier, it may have been okay.

Someone once told me that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Based solely on results, he has what it takes. He is in the White House after all. As he was in his first term. And the world didn't fall apart until Sleepy Joe. Hell, even Dems had a decent approval rating before Sleepy Joe. -

It has nothing to do with being gay. Mayor Pete can't be president until he's seasoned enough. He's not tough worldly enough and would get chewed up and spat out in his current iteration. He may make a good politician after he's been through the ringer more and taken some more learning lumps. That kind of education doesn't happen in Indiana. Let's see how he fares after a few seasons in the Big League. I'm cautiously optimistic about the guy.
