I was thinking about starting a new update thread to see if metal detectors have been in the news at all. But I'll just bump this one... Over the years, there have been several threads about people (foreigners?) getting in trouble for using metal detectors in Thailand. Not often, but occasionally... Has anyone seen any articles to that effect since Covid? I used to bring one to the beach with me in Jomtien and found enough change to buy a bottled water under the Russkie dominated beach chairs. So I certainly don't want to get banged up for using one. If I found a Rollex, maybe. (That's not a speeling mistek) In fairness, I wasn't very serious about it, and I'm more interested in WW2 artifacts up around Kanchanaburi. TIA for any input.

A coin in the photo for a sense of scale would be helpful.

Not even close. HR2 was much stronger, passed by the House and put in a drawer by the Dem Senate leader. The alleged "bipartisan" bill was tanked by a bunch of Dem senators that saw what a disaster it was and voted with the Repubs. It allowed almost 2 million illegals in every year, before the President could even take action at the border. But you go ahead and keep peddling your lefty fantasies if it gives you comfort.

Megyn Kelly paints grim picture of potential Kamala Harris presidency
impulse replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Keep in mind this is a woman who hated Trump with a passion, before he had 4 pretty good years, followed by the disaster that Harris/Biden have unleashed. Not unlike the change in heart by JD Vance and millions of other Americans. Myself included. -
Funny, because in about 90% of the cases of political violence, it's the lefties committing it. Or trying to commit it. They don't generally fight that well. More of a slap-and-shriek fest.

A real Karen story, apparently. I can't believe anyone would be that vindictive, then brag on it. I hope they don't dox her. I'm against violence...

Wouldn't it be a kick in the nuts if NY flipped from blue on account of a squirrel? The story is getting quite a bit of traction.

I'd suggest hiding your kitchen knives, scissors, other sharp objects and any rat poison you may have laying around. And stock up on tranquilizers before election day. A Georgia voter named Leonardo said on Friday that he cast his ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris out of concern that her supporters would struggle mentally if former President Donald Trump defeats her. And anonymous voter Leonard isn't alone. Political analyst Mark Halperin is forecasting the biggest health care crisis in US history. https://dailycaller.com/2024/11/01/voter-ballot-for-harris-fears-her-supporters/ And if you live on a high floor, better stay in a one story bungalow for a couple of weeks. With a bar nearby. Kudos to Leonard for his compassion.

Here's thousands of questionable voter registration forms in 3 separate county investigations in Pennsylvania alone. Harvested by a Soros backed company. The Monroe County Board of Elections in Pennsylvania determined that several voter registration applications and mail-in ballot requests are fraudulent York County, also located in Pennsylvania, is investigating forms submitted by the FieldCorps subsidiary, Lancaster County, again in Pennsylvania, is also investigating potentially fraudulent registration materials from a “third-party organization” after receiving approximately 2,500 applications in two waves, As FieldCorps faces scrutiny over the allegedly fraudulent voter materials, the company’s website has gone offline. https://dailycaller.com/2024/11/01/consulting-firm-that-rakes-in-cash-from-dems-investigated-for-submitting-fraudulent-voter-registration-forms/

I'd vote for the guy just for having the courage to say this in a public forum: “Yeah,” Vance agreed, sharing that he has encountered several individuals in the same situation, saying “I know people who are public figures who have had serious vaccine side effects who do not want anyone to talk about it. Absolutely. They’re scared of being labeled an anti-vaxxer.” One of those people injured, Vance revealed, is “a Senate colleague who doesn’t want to talk about it but worries that it’s permanently affected his sense of balance, dizziness, and vertigo.” “I’ve talked to a number of people who think that they got vaccine injured. Some of them are public about it, and some of them are not,” Vance said. Of course, I'm a little biased since I've been suffering a vaccine injury since the day after my 2nd Pfizer, 3-1/2 years ago. Which includes, BTW, loss of balance, dizziness and vertigo, to this day. My fingers are crossed that they'll finally look for treatments instead of sweeping us all under the rug.

True Extent of Migrant Crossings Under Vice President Harris Exposed
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
In 2024, the average waiting time for an asylum hearing is 3.9 years. The average waiting period for an immigration asylum hearing is 3.9 years, according to Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, which tracks enforcement of federal immigration laws. With Eric Adams of NYC estimating the cost to provide services to their "newcomers" at $36,000 a year, that's about $140,000 of tax money to provide services while each one waits (3.9 x $36K). Multiply that by 10 million, and you're talking real money. With the US already $35 trillion in debt. We can't afford unvetted immigration. https://gigafact.org/fact-briefs/is-the-waiting-period-for-an-immigration-asylum-hearing-six-to-eight-years -
Tucker Carlson Claims Demon Attack Left Him Bloodied in Bed

It's a good thing he's not the candidate. And that people (myself included) don't listen to him during his interviews. We listen to his guests. I'm a fan of his interviews and guest selection. But his laugh grates on my nerves. And he's slowly learning Rogan's formula... Ask a meaningful question and let your guests hang themselves. Or not. -
I can think of a lot of his adversaries that should be praying for Trump to win next week. Because if he's president, he won't have as much spare time to sue the people who have defamed, attacked, and literally incited assassins to shoot at him. If they can sue $1 billion out of Alex Jones for hurt feelings, what's a bullet to the ear worth?

The Next President Inherits a Remarkable Economy
impulse replied to Mazungu's topic in Political Soapbox
Easy for me. I live overseas now. I haven't bought a US tariffed item in years. But I have had my tax money transferred to graduates who won't pay their loans. -

You mean like to poor who went to Ivy League Universities and got a useless degree, to the tune of $200K in debt? -

As they must. But only if they choose to buy the stuff being "tariffed". Loan forgiveness, OTOH, is not discretionary. I can choose not to buy bananas or imported EVs. I cannot choose not to pay taxes. And again, I repeat... Tariff money goes into the treasury. That reduces the deficit. Loan forgiveness comes out of the treasury and increases the deficit. The $35 trillion deficit. -

You are aware, of course, that tariffs go INTO the treasury and loan forgiveness comes OUT of the treasury? One is a redistribution of my wealth to other people (after I paid off my student loans), and is not discretionary on my part. Tariffs on imported food are a very discretionary issue. If bananas are too expensive, I don't buy them.
