  1. Around 40% of the taxis on the roads at any moment are running without passengers, Mr. Chatchart said.

Well, perhaps the taxi drivers should stop refusing to pick up fares or stop asking for a 200 Baht 'no meter' flat rate fare. Despite the recent 'laws' prohibiting these practices, these problems are still rife in and around central Bangkok.

You too the words right out of my mouth. Went through 8 taxis last Friday night. Finally one that recognized me from a previous fare stopped and picked me up. The laws regarding taxis in this country are a JOKE!

  2. Prices of many items have a lot to do with the global economy, out of the influence of Thai governments. Raising the minimum wage was an election promise of both sides and to my opinion quite a good idea as there hadn't been any substantial raise in a very long time and it's struggling at 5000 Baht a month.

Thailand's problem is in productivity and efficiency. It keeps amazing me to see 8 staff in a 7Eleven spending more time with each other than on customers, TOT that sends 6 people to install a simple telephone line spread over 3 visits, the army of people in banks that fiddle around with paper and stamps ignoring huge ques, and I can go on and on about this.

Why with the high wages is it possible to get a kilo of pork or beef in the shop at better quality and lower prices in western Europe than here in Thailand?

If Thailand would learn to use less people to do the same job the wages could be raised even more, tackling another problem of inequality here as most of the money that is made ends up in very few pockets. The latter will be the most difficult problem as it's them who pull the strings in the system.

Have 10 people working in 7-11 is the government's way of keeping the unemployment rate down. :)

  3. The PTP doesn't even bother to conceal their in-your-face corruption.

In the US, Romney in 2012 tried the same tactic and lost, but not by much. Just simply lying can get you into power all over the Earth.

Are you referring to Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, who initiated state-wide healthcare for all citizens and is single-handedly responsible for saving the totally corrupt Salt Lake City Olympics? You can stop kissing Obama's ass now as he has already won a second term after doing nothing to help the US economy or get people back to work. BTW you are completely off topic as well as lying about an honorable man.

Yes it is off-topic but me thinks you referring to R as an honorable man is definitely off the rocker!

  4. Police said the three musicians were arrested at the scene and confessed to stabbing the Americans.

And will be told, NO DON'T DO THAT AGAIN! GO MAKE GOOD AT THE TEMPLE AND YOU CAN GO FREE! I am really thinking strongly of leaving this county and find somewhere that is not quite so insane!

  5. It just shows the ignorance of world history that Thais know. There is no world history taught in this country and that is why they are so isolated and not ready for ASEAN. If kills me to see this going on in this country with so many good people but once again, they have no clue. Even the government has no clue and will not step in to curb this idiotic new fad!
