If there have been changes to the AMLO/PSO regulations for Thailand as has been suggested here and elsewhere why aren't they being applied consistently to all transfers/deposits over 49999 baht and why does Wise know nothing about it?Something strange is happening..

As promised I can report I made my uk pension claim by telephone today dec. 16th 2021 and it appeared to go well.

Almost as if someone is trying to discourage the 65k baht method..

Looks like only smallish transfers are allowed at least by certain banks and for some customers.I guess it must be linked to money laundering regs.

Well if a 50000 baht restriction on bank transfers does take effect we will just have to get used to transferring smaller amounts.Kinda tough on the guts who use Swift to bring larger amounts tho'.

Can you please provide a few more details?Maybe tell us from which bank to which bank?

Into Thailand the wise community facebook page has a couple of people suggesting that there is a problem at the Thai end one specifically stating SCB has refused a money transfer.Don't shoot the messenger!

Let's hope it is just cash deposits however you can probably remember there was a recent thread about wise transfers and reports on the wise facebook page of thai banks refusing transfers.

When I moved to my current rental property I got my landlord to give me copies of these as immigration requested and I take them to every extension.Looks like they will be asked for next time.

This will wreak havoc on those who use the 65k income method for their retirement extensions.

Same here a phone call and later a letter informing me where the branch was relocating to.More than I expected to be honest.

Thanks for the report..personally I have for many years taken a copy of the owners id and tabian baan to soi 5 for yearly extensions just in case although it was never asked for.

The last communication I received from TVP international Queries states the telephone option is still available.Hopefully I'll make my claim next week and report back with how it went.

For people comfortable with computers..

I have a friend who did his successfully mid September.I believe it is still possible to make a claim by telephone the uk gov.website has not changed it's advice.

I am still hoping to make my claim by phone as the form is daunting to say the least..

The easiest way to access your PTA is to install the app. and allow fingerprint recognition doing away with the need for access codes as long as you stay signed in.

I wonder is this because of regulatory changes in Thailand or DBS? If the former Wise seemed unaware of any changes when I emailed them 2 days ago.

This is because Wise use the mid market rate which is significantly better than the rate you get with any bank SWIFT transfer.Perhaps much larger transfers could be cheaper with SWIFT as you only pay one set of fees and this could offset the inferior rate but for most of us transferring smallish sums Wise is cheaper.

Just received an email reply from wise asking about limits on transfers to Thailand and the answer given is 2 million baht..so nothing about a new 50 thousand limit.I think there are just extra checks going on now..

Maybe we've seen the last of the 4 second transfers as they do additional checks?
