  1. It took me two days, to get my thoughts in order about this.

Are they out of their <deleted> mind?

I had a "discussion" about those infamous portable loos in Holland (the one with the Buddha- image on them).

First of all, the person I talked to was totally misinformed, thinking the pictures have been INSIDE the loo, but more significantly: she asked me, if "we" would do such things to "our" Jesus.

    YES INDEED "WE" DO!

    All the time.

Some may find that offensive, but hey...sad day for them!

What the world sure does not need, is another holier-than-thou'- organisation, who claims, their believes to be so damn special, they require extra protection.

In the end, Buddhism doesn't even qualify as a religion.

Let's face it, lady: you are IN FACT not much more than a meditation- group, even your "Lord" Buddha, doesn't claim any god-like status!

    Go figure!

  2. The TAT Governor could have stated that it has affected tourism and the critics would most likely have continued their hateful comments. Constructive criticism based on facts and established research, which can be verified, is an alternative.

An example would be for posters to provide data that shows reduced numbers of tourists in affected areas or hotel/tour cancelation statistics. It seems to be much easier to use ambiguous statements and suppositions.

    Obviously, you don't get it!

The TAT comes out at every possible opportunity, to state, this or that doesn't affect Thailands toursim- from flooding IN Thailand to bombings in BOSTON!

And is not so much, that their numbers seemed to be flawed, but that they act like that!

"Oh...half the country is chin deep in feces...but the good news is: tourism is not affected!"

Where I come from, we call that "Fingerspitzengefuehl"...or rather: the lack of it!

  3. I'm sure if Farangs were in charge the rains would stop.....blink.png

Cos in Farang countries we never have flooding do we, cos we Farangs know better, yeah right...

Aaaaaahhh...I love the smell of Thai- apologists in the morning!

    Yes!

We do have floods in "farang land"!

Not every year for the last....500.000 years, though.... and we learn from it occasionally...but please continue!

The psychiatrists are already grabbing their prescription pads!

I guess the west has not had to learn too much from monsoons and tropical storms over the last 500.000 years, although there are regions that have coped well with heavy snowfall!! where as the Thai built houses on stilts and learnt to accomodate the quirks of the life blood for agriculture....Then the western style of building arrived!! and with it the capitalist moaners, who for the sake of additional space build underground carparks in BKK!! for the majority of Thailand some floods may be extreme, but it is business as usual for the majority, the water arrives, and when it departs it departs, and in the agricultural areas a little too much for a while is perceived as better than non at all! The minority but most expensive to appease, in the cities, just want money spent to right what they got wrong smile.png

Okay...sooooo..fit is the farangs fault, no matter what?!

And since nobody wants to hear what "we" to say to anything, if Thais copy "us" and things go wrong...it is "us" again, who are at fault?

  4. Happens all over the world. Chatting on your smartphone while ignoring the friends next to you. It's not just a Thai trait.

    Quoto this message completely.

Everything described in the article also happens all over Europe. Just pay attention to teen agers.

Here we go again. "Thais are like this, Thais do so", opinions from "experts" who most of the times enjoy to describe Thais like different beasts, not like us, they are timid, stupid, never smart, and now attached to their smart phones like monkeys to bananas.

That is hard to read over and over.

Just explain one thing to me: the OP is by a THAI- source, it is about THAIS and it is discussed on a forum named THAIvisa, by people who mainly live in THAIland.

As soon as a I sign up to EGYPTvisa, OUTER MONGOLIAvisa or REST OF THE WORLDvisa, I will gladly discuss these territories.

The "it happens everywhere"- excuse is really getting lame and boring!

Everything happens everywhere, so why discuss anything, huh?!

  5. This will run and run. A more efficient way for this forum to comment might be to make a separate thread for each of K. Boonyakiat's ten points (above). Yes, I realise its all been said before.......

My post is about the present. For the future (and past and present of course) Education is the biggest failure

For me the increase to the minimum wage is the most outrageous and unsustainable policy of the day.

IF it was 200 and now 300 that is a 50% increase.

IF it was 250 and now 300 that is a 20% increase.

Either way barking mad! All prices have to rise accordingly across the economy, and a good many rural workers used to getting 200 will now be unemployable at the lower end of the market. The evidence is already out there - far more men sat around doing squat, or forming demonstrations, when they should be at work earning 200 a day.... And the girls, bored, getting pregnant/married creating more mouths to feed.... (And I understand demographic projections are encouraging this).

Businesses across the board from the smallest restaurant just breaking even to factories will either go out of business, or, pass on the increased labour costs to customers - read consumers!.... And eventually a good many of those businesses become uncompetitive, and surprise surprise will go out of business.

International companies are looking elsewhere to base their Asian operations to ensure their Labour costs continue to fit their business plan models.

Unemployment is at 1% don't you know. That is the biggest lie which will bite the hardest just as soon as tax increases start to hurt, and empty mouths cannot be fed.

i dont agree sir..remember,there is not one person going round enforcing this,to check what people are earning..wearing a crash helmet is also a law..but who enforces that, unless plod is a bit skint,at the end of the month.plenty of people not even near 300 a day..just a thought for all to ponder...wai2.gif.pagespeed.ce.goigDuXn4X.gif width=20 alt=wai2.gif>

Well if the current government is so keen to help the poor why don't they introduce proper checking mechanisms to easily and quickly catch any employers who are not paying the minimum wage? And severely punish those caught?

By the way, I believe that the poor of this country (and other countries) are downtrodden and do need help. They need help to get themselves into asituation whereby they can have a better quality of life through their own productivity.

Handouts (actually aimed more at buying votes) is not a long-term solution. And the current government have never mentioned / introduced any long-term initiatives to gain any ground whatever. And they never will, it's simply not on their agenda and never will be.

H90 already told you why - because they can get away with not doing anything and blaming the opposition (Dems) for blocking their attempts to help - and it is believed. This is no different from the dark ages when the church promised everything, then blamed the devil (and burned a few midwives as witches) when it wasn't. A no-win situation that happens when you have uneducated people that are constantly brainwashed - Red Schools only propagate this. Old Abe's statement, "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time" doesn't seem to follow in Thailand (at least it could be changed here to "You can fool all the people you need to win an election all the time if you do it right")

I would agree with you, except for one small fact: you are argumenting, as if "brainwashing" is a thing that only surfaced during the last 6 yeras or so.

Thai- people were always brainwashed , f.e. into bowing to authorities and believe everything they tell you.

You don't need a "red-school" to get that accomplished.

  6. The real problem I'm having here is the truth. Tell me where it's going to flood, when to evacuate, how or which way to get to higher ground and be safe. Tell me where I can get help from government agencies for a place to live and perhaps my next meal. Just give us some truth, it's all we're asking. But all we get is, "No Major Flooding in Bangkok"

You - presumably farang- will not get any help anyways..

You are rich and can f....help yourself!

(for any mail- police: I am being sarcastic!)

  7. Isn't it amazing?

The one party has a bunch of clowns, that says "there is no flood" or "everything is under control", while people are wading through 1 meter depth of liquid feces. The other party has a bunch of clowns, who say "Bangkok will not be flooded in parts", meaning nothing else than "Bangkok will be flooded in parts"...and no one does anything about something that is a yearly occurance by now!

  8. hellodolly...

First of all: it is no secret, that I am a part time PTPredshirt supporter?

    a) even if: so what? b ) maybe in your wild and weird fantasy. Just because someone asks for some balance in some posts, doesn't make him a supporter of one or the other!

...and secondly: do me a favor and google "sarcasm" or "irony", Mr. Knowitall!

I was referring to Thaigold and philw in my reply and you might have noticed that, if you would not see a Thaksin- fan behind every bamboostick...wai.gif

My statement the first line on your retort nullifies a) and cool.png

I saw no balance in your statement. out and out nonsense.

Have a look in the mirror and google "narcissist", will you?!

    Are you the internet- police?

And why do you take offense in a mail, that was not even directed at you?

...and not the commentator it followed?!

  10. Please ... you Farang posters. Stop this silliness blaming the Thai government for floods. Every country has floods. Look at Colorado in the US; look at the yearly firestorms in California; look at New Orleans. As I recall. you can see floods in 1942 with rowboats at Victory Monument. Bangkok is built on a mud flat, a flood plain. It's mother nature, not the government.

    Thank you...

Too much commonsense in that TG

Most of these posters are looking for something to moan about and to vent their hatred of the PM and all things Thaksin.

Somehow, the descriptions of situations, any situation, are more dire on TV than they are in reality.

Goes with the forum, i suppose.

I've been flooded out a few times in the last few years, before you ask.............................

    Dear Phil,

    2 simple questions:

    1. What do you call a person who firmly believes that dipping a small spinning propeller into a khlong or river will consistently increase its overall flow speed and help to push water out into the ocean?

    2. Do you consider this person suitable for being in charge of the overall water and flood management of a country in the tropical zone?

Correct answers: (read from right to left: 1. ssabmud, 2. on)

    Oh come on!

Everything Thais do is great, Thailand is 101% like paradise, every Thai- politician is a genius and...so on and so on...and if you don't like it, because the stupidity of some is threatening your life and well- being (and the well- being of those you allegedly "bash"...go home!

    How original!
