  1. What happened to the cocaine and intoxication charges? I suppose the police have finished gathering the evidence that unfortunately delayed Vorayuth’s prosecution and unintentionally led to the speeding charge being dropped. What a shameful obstruction of justice by the police in the investigation of the death of one of their own.

Those charges were dropped early on due a problem with the testing procedure which malfunctioned after being hit by a bundle of cash.

  2. I dont really understand what all this is about.

Its clear that he is going to get away with it like all the other kids or whoever from rich and powerful families.

Like that girl years ago in Bkk who killed 9 people in that minivan. Did she go to prison for that? No and never will. This is how it works not only in Thailand but in every country. Problems are like bargirls. You stuff them with some money and they dissappear.

    "...like in every country"???

    In your dreams, maybe!

  3. Police to issue arrest warrant for Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhaya

    By Peter Shadbolt, CNN

(CNN) -- Thai prosecutors were poised to issue an arrest warrant Tuesday for the grandson of the creator of the Red Bull energy drink who failed to appear in court this week over a fatal hit-and-run case that sparked nationwide anger.

Prosecutors allege Vorayuth Yoovidhaya, 28, was behind the wheel of his Ferrari on September 3, 2012, when it collided with an on-duty policeman on a motorbike in downtown Bangkok.

He is charged with reckless driving causing death, speeding and failing to stop following an accident.

Thai police told CNN that Yoovidhaya's lawyer had informed prosecutors his client was in Singapore receiving medical treatment for a bout of influenza he contracted while on a business trip and would not be in Thailand for his scheduled court hearing.

Thai prosecutor Ruecha Krairiksh said his no-show meant that the speeding charges would lapse but the more serious charges of reckless driving and failing to stop would still apply.

  4. Another bandwagon opportunity for an official to get publicity.

Do you know anything about Paveena? She helps underprivileged all the time, you won't see it as it is not high profile and it is the media that makes these high profile cases more public.

So a former supermodel is under privileged or is she now poor and penniless because she blew all her cash or drugs and partying ?

I'm not saying Paveena doesn't do go but I'm sure she doesn't mind the publicity either.

How did the media find out she went to hospital or in other words who told them and that would include members of her staff along with many others.

Paveena is a known publicity junky. She uses women's and children's rights for her own self aggrandizement.

At least she is doing something, even if it "only" making the public aware, that these things are happening.

  5. Vendors on footpaths are illegal in Thailand as is driving one's motorcycle on the sidewalk - but - this is Thailand where rules are made to be ignored.

Just even out the walkways and crack down (yeah, I said it) on motocy's using the walkway as a road... and I will be fine.

Just avoiding the vendors is not a huge problem and it is kind of Bangkok's charme. But avoiding a vendor while tripping into a whole, twisting my ankle and jam into an oncoming motorcycle is just...bad!

Is that true that motorcycles are not legal on sidewalks (footpaths)? A while ago it was explained to me here on thaivisa.com that riding motorbikes on the sidewalk *is* legal.

    ...it sure shouldn't be!

  6. it looks like the brains stay at home if tourists leave for vacation.....

A bit like the brains stay at home behaviour exhibited by personages living in Thailand who profess not to be tourists on vacation, but "residents" you mean ?

This may have not been the smartest move, but are you suggesting all accountability is on this girl ?

The tiger temple has a great deal of accoutability in this case... for encouraging the girl to do this, for a fee, I assume

Having been to the tiger temple, there is "hard selling" by people at the temple for tourists to get their photo's taken simply because they are making money out it, so they are going to tell somebody anything to get their hands on the cash...

these are wild animals and the temple should not even encourage this...

Yes, the accountability is totally on the girl...and every other moron, who goes to these places and believes the fairytale of the "peaceful" tigers, living in "harmony" with the "peaceful" monks, just because the Buddha wanted it to be this way.

You pay to go on a ride at a theme park, during the ride there is a mechanical failure due to improper maintenance or supervison by the person looking after the ride, which results in an injury to yourself.....so there is no accountability on the theme park owner....its your fault, because you paid your money and chose to get on the ride ?

What happend in tiger temple is not much different...she has paid for "service"

All the theme- parks I have ever been in, have a high standard on security checks.

If something goes wrong, it is an accident and well...that happens.

With some dudes, who know nothing about what they are actually doing, just drugging a few wild animals with no control or checks whatsoever,it is an accident waiting to happen.

    Those are very different things.

  8. So let me get that straight...

Because 3 years ago, "the" Red Shirts did something, that was against the law, now no one who is ever wearing a red shirt to voice a political opinion, can expect any protection from attacks or the likes?!

From 2010 onwards you can attack any red shirt guy willy- nilly and just have to state "but they burned down Central..." and you are fine?

    So when will that end?

Is it still okay to slap any Burmese in the face, because they burned down Ayuttaya?

Well Doc if these guys and girls would cease and desist their continual rabble rousing they might get some respect. But it seems they are bent on disrupting any group that is standing for something they don't agree with and they never miss a chance. They have the same right as anyone else to express their opinion but they don't afford other groups the same rights.

I am in no way supporting violence from any group and that should not happen but it's like kicking an old dog in a corner. Sooner or later he will turn and bite you.

    Understood and agreed.

But I get the feeling that IF someone really would get attacked and would complain, it would be stated "well...you reap what you sow..." and that is not the way to go about it in any case!

Why isn't you reap what you sow the case? These low lives by far and large did no hard time for ludicrous crimes...and especially the higher management level ones. So a good thrashing is well deserved and maybe what they need to be put in their place.

These guys don't know when to call it quits..they're always gagging for clashes...well, when you ask for it...

    Lynch- justice anyone?

So...if you break the law in one case...let's say, you were driving drunk...from now on, you have no rights anymore and whenever someone does something to YOU, it is okay, if I say "yeah...but YOU broke the law, so...reap what you sow"?!

    Interesting understanding of "justice"!
