  1. We've discussed marriage many times. Not just for the ability for her to stay, but for beneficiary purposes, assuming I pass before her.
  2. Her only land border crossing was in January 17 this year. All others by air
  3. Retirement for me, since 2015
  4. Yeah, I used the wrong wording there. Anyway, the basic question is, should she be worried about not leaving on April 16, the date the IO threatened her with blacklisting? Also, I kinda thought that the clock reset each calendar year. It was only her 2nd entry this year.
  5. Marriage may be coming, but neither of us wants to live in PI.
  6. My Filipina GF (together now for >10 years) arrived at Suvarnabhumi from India last week. Here is a list of Thai entries in her passport: 1. Entered Oct 5, 2022, stamped in until Nov 18, 2022, left Nov 18, 2022. Total 34 days. 2. Entered March 2, 2023, stamped in until April 15, 2023. Extended at Jomtien on April 11, 2023. Extension granted until May 15, 2023. Departed May 14, 2023. Total 73 days. 3. Entered Oct 19, 2023, stamped in until Nov 17, 2023. Departed Nov 9, 2023. Total 21 days. 4. Entered Dec 19, 2023, stamped in until Dec 18, 2023. Extended at Jomtien, extension granted until Jan 17, 2024. She did a border hop to Cambodia on Jan 17, 2024, returning the same day. Total 54 days. Total 148 days in 2023. 5. Reentered from Cambodia Jan 17, 2024, stamped in until Feb 15, 2024. Departed Feb 12, 2024. Total 26 days. 6. Entered April 10, 2024, from India, stamped in until May 9, 2024. That's her history and here's what happened when she reentered on April 10. 1. Interrogated at office on entry. The female IO asked for her departure ticket, which she had, dated April 16 departure. Also showed 30K THB cash. Plan was to discard her ticket and apply for an extension sometime before May 9. 2. IO said she didn't believe it was a valid ticket , took pictures, and had her sign some form. The form was a large piece of paper, folded in half, and IO told her not to look inside, just sign the paper, and then took another picture of her holding the paper and her passport. Told her she had to leave on the date on the ticket, April 16 or the IO would blacklist her for a year. The IO then proceeded to STAMP HER IN UNTIL MAY 9, but put a small dot next to the departure by date on her stamp (stamp pictured below)! Obviously, she's had many entries. She doesn't work here and is supported by me. She told IO that she takes care of her BF and we travel around Thailand together, which we do. IO said she doesn't care about BF. So I'm wondering, since she has a valid tourist visa until May 9, can she stay until May 9? Is there a chance that she would be denied an extension at Jomtien while waiting for an ED visa (applying next week for ED visa). I posted some questions on AN a couple of days ago asking about schools, fees, etc.) or might she be denied and blacklisted on exit, because she didn't exit on April 16? She would actually study Thai as part of our long-term plan, so she's not planning to do the bogus ED visa thing. She's been learning the Thai alphabet to get primed for language lessons.
  7. I am unclear after reading this (and a friend is interested in the ED visa): What does it mean to "...clear my passport from the ED-visa status"? I know I can check with various schools, but does anybody happen to know current rates for any bona fide Thai language schools that would qualify one for a 1-year ED visa? My friend was quoted 27K through an "agent" for Excel Language School, with a quarterly 5K fee if you don't really want to study or 1900 THB quarterly if you actually want to attend classes. Is there some special 90-day reporting required, other than the normal (free) 90-day reporting?
  8. So most of the money is being borrowed from next year's budget? Borrow it forward! 🙂
  9. And the remaining 31 rai: Luxury hi-rises and hotels, built right on the waterfront?
  10. I seem to remember that the harmful effects of evapes was due to contaminants in the oils being vaped.
  11. You can only taste 5 things: salt, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami. Sounds like your sense of smell is what is off. Are there other things that used to smell good but now don't? Perfumes, soaps, aftershave, fabric softeners, people, vanilla, garlic, onions, ...?
  12. Rough calculation on the missing waste. It is enough to render over one TRILLION liters (1,000,000,000,000) of water undrinkable, i.e., above the safe Cadmium drinking level (0.005mg/L). That's 8 full Mabrachan Reservoirs of water!
  13. I'm sure that the wastewater on the floor surrounding the bags of waste never makes it to the outside environment.
  14. I would think that Thailand would have the upper hand in any negotiations. German engine in the original contract. Can't get engine = contract void? Return any downpayments. Unless there was something dodgy from the get-go.
  15. Is that the Thai art exhibit or a photo from some middle school hallway?
  16. And they want to build a nuclear plant? Run a submarine?
  17. And these symptoms are never mentioned. So helpful.
  18. So women over about 45 years of age shouldn't be allowed to marry? Hysterectomy? Sterile males?
  19. "And it kept happening, day after day after day"
  20. The hotel bookings are not at 30%, they are 30% of what they were a year ago. Say they were 70% a year ago, that would mean that they are actually at 21% now.
  21. Several years ago, the beach was torn up AGAIN to remove overhead wires and install conduit through which to run future lines. There were new wires overhead within a couple of weeks.
