A great way of attracting tourists

The sum of 100,000 seems to be about right , but what about closing the Thai company ? , that in my opinion could cost a lot more than 100,000 .

In my opinion both can both the ultra wealthy tourists and green newbies can be easily fleeced

I have been using Wise to transfer 65,000 per month since February . When I transfer the funds to my Bangkok bank I always select the reason for transfer as "long term stay in Thailand". Its never been a problem as all my monthly transfers to date have shown up as International Transfers. All my transfers have been sent using the main Wise website from my laptop , but this month I want to start using the Wise app on my phone as my laptop as broke. The trouble I am having is when I use the phone app its different , it does not seem to have the dropdown box to allow me to give the reason for the transfer. So at the moment I have not made the November transfer in fear it will not show up as a International Transfer. I wondered if any others have had this problem when using the phone app.

I am in the same boat , I opened an SCB easy savings account in Phuket and put 2 Million in there @ 1.5% . I wasnt asked for a Tax ID though , like you say there is no book , I can order a up to date statement like you said that immediately gets emailed to me. When i do the retirement extension, I will ask the SCB bank for a 12 month statement and a letter that states this is an instant access account on line account that does not provide a bank book.

This has got to be the most stupid ridiculous post I have ever read. What a selfish fool , of course the bank can mess around with your account . The banks automated payment schedule made an error and the bank corrected the issue, what is your problem ?. It seems to me your are just sore that you didn't get to keep the money which actually quite rightly belongs to the bank not you.

My experience of opening a Thai bank account in February 2021. I Walked into the Patong Branch of Bangkok Bank , the staff were extremely pleasant and pleased I had chosen Bangkok Bank. Handed over my passport and after a few minutes asked to sign about 4 forms . Then after about 15 minutes was handed a new passbook and told my account was now open. The lady then asked if I needed there Banking app , which she kindly took my phone and arranged the Banking app on my phone. I estimate the whole process took 30 minutes.

I have been using Tranferwise now for about 2 to 3 years . My experience with them as been 100% perfect , I arrange a transfer on line and it arrives within hours , this is GBP to Thailand.

I am truly sorry for you after reading your post carefully , you are certainly not a fool. I have lived here 20 years now in Thailand and I was until 2016 very proud to have not been caught by one of these types of Thai women. Then like you I fell in love with one of them , unfortunately my story ended up very badly like yours. Its not a nice thing to go through when you realise that you have been lied to for years and it really messes you up emotionally. To make you feel a little bit better , dont be hard on yourself , you have done nothing wrong , it's her who is the problem , we just got fell in love with the wrong type.

A couple of things that you might have overlooked and I am talking from experience. In 2004 , I also did a similar thing to what you described , I had a house built in Phuket that cost at the time 17 Million , the value now is around 35 Million. My laywer set up the Thai company in exactly the same way as you described. The problem was my relationship with the TGF ended in 2012 when she ran off with a younger Australian man and moved to Australia with him. When I tried to sell my house in 2015 , I couldn't as she was a 49% shareholder and her the signed copy of her ID and signed copies of share transfer certificates were deemed useless as her Thai ID card date had expired in 2008. I have no idea of were she is and to date I still can not sell the house until she is found and gives a new signed copy of her ID card. Another problem also arose when the DBD investigated my Thai company in 2016 and demanded to see proof of were the ex TGF got the money from to hold 49% of the shares in my Thai company. That investigation is also still ongoing and causing me a lot if stress , I have been told it is illegal to hold a house this way and the DBD are threatening to take me to court about the way I formed a Thai company to buy a house , it is totally illegal they have warned me.
