  1. For people in the know it's a Bi- Sexual thing , it's to let other guys know you swing both ways
  2. Considering I had a fleet of of 5 lorries back in the UK and have had a HGV license since 1979 I absolutely know what I am talking about. It is yourself who has just shown your compleate ignorance of how air assisted brakes operate. Have you ever even driven a heavy goods vehicle ? , I use to drive from Porstmouth in the UK across by ferry into Le Harve in France then through to Bordeaux , into Spain and was often away 3 weeks at time driving through continental Europe. So I feel highly insulted by your comment. If you had ever even driven even a small 7.5 ton lorry you would realise if that if you keep depressing the braks an alarm will sound warning you that your air is running low for the air assisted brakes. There is also an air gauge showing your air pressure , if you keep continuing depressing the brakes while descending a hill the air pressure wont have enough time to repressurise by the compressor. This is one of the first things we are taught when taking our 3 week HGV course . If I were you I would delete your comment as your embarrassing yourself with your complete lack of knowledge either that or your one of these trolls who get off on trying to wind people up behind a keyboard.
  3. I have lived in Patong 22 years and the amount of times I have seen the same type of accidents on that stretch of the hill involving large lorries is just ridiculous. They are constantly using the air brakes instead of engine breaking all the way down from the temple 2 km away. By the time they get to the last bend descending into Patong of course they have completely run out of air and can't stop thus these dreadful accidents keep occurring time after time. Why on earth are they allowed to drive these big lorries and busses without the simple knowledge of engine breaking. If that lorry had been in 2nd gear descending that last section of the hill he could have easily negotiated those bends under full control of the lorry.
  4. Why put total nonsense on here , this forum is meant to help people , not bull<deleted> them
  5. No you dont , I sent a screenshot of the bank Information
  6. No , you do not have to go to the bank
  7. Yes , that is what the bank told me 3 years ago , since then mind I have strated sending funds back to the UK without using my paperwork via the SCB banking app. Last time I used the SCB app for International transfer , I sent 2 Million baht without any problems at all or paperwork. The app informed me my remaining money limit was in fact 5 Million . So if I were you I would try one of the banks apps first. I have also used Dmoney without paperwork but there daily limit was 800,000. The funds I sent using the SCB app arrived in the UK the same day.
  8. It's not $50,000 that is incorrect and only applies if you have no paperwork. I recently sent 13.5 Million in one transfer , I was however required to provide proof that I had previously transferred that amount into Thailand. I did that by showing the bank several Torta Sam's and credit advices (FET) showing I had transferred more than 13.5 Million into Thailand from previous years , some were dated 2004.
  9. Well you cant blame the banks for these new rules. Apparently there are 3.6 Million abandoned accounts with no funds in that tourists opened while on holiday over the past several years. Now the banks are abruptly refusing to open any new accounts if your on a tourist Visa. Ideally you could have applied for a 90 day Non immigrant O Visa based on retirement in your own country. Then you would have had no problems opening a bank account and be able to place the required 800,000 in it for 2 months . Then during the last 30 days of if your 90 days applied for the 12 months retirement extension.
  10. I had a visit recently at 5 am on a Sunday morning but they only looked through my bedroom window on an extension ladder. I live on the 5th floor and luckily i had just finished a session with my wife when the IO banged on the window and took a photo
  11. Imagine if rainy season was in full swing , he might have been swept down to Rayong by now
  12. I bought these on line before I came and I have had no problems so far changing them for Thai baht at the exchange booths
  13. You would have to reside in the UK to get that and also if you had over a certain amount in savings I think it's a mere £15,000 then you wouldn't get it even if you did reside in the UK.
  14. I have to agree he is talking absolute rubbish ,especially the Krungsri bank they are adamant now on a COR and a Non Immigrant O Visa. I have been with Krungsri 22 years and know the manager very well , tried to get my 77 year Australian mate a bank account opened on a tourist Visa. Absolutely no chance anymore and definitely needed a COR after he successfully got his Non O. Even the Bangkok bank made an announcement last month , no more new bank accounts on tourist Visas.
  15. I managed to sort mine out I am 65 and turn 66 next February so that's when I will start to receive my pension. I signed into to the government Gateway system last year and found I only had 15 full years that would have given me just over £70 a week. Some years I was only 1 or 2 weeks missing , so in the end I chose to pay 17 years shortfall . It cost me just over £13,000 but now I have 32 years, you need 35 years to get the full pension. They only let me pay any shortfalls in years back to 2006. It a shame because in 1990 I had 51 weeks and in 1992 49 weeks and 1993 50 weeks but they wouldn't let me pay those 6 weeks as it was before 2006. I will never be eligible for the full pension as I only have 32 qualifying years and you need 35 to get the full pension. I will however now receive £186.78 starting from next February. To me it was worth paying the £13,000 as i will recoup that money within 3 years with the increased pension i will now receive. The deadline for repayment of any non qualifying years was April 5 2023 but this has now been extended to July 5 2023. So you still have time to do it , to short mine out it did take quite a bit of work , i phoned them about 5 times using Skype and also wrote two long letters , they took a long time to answer so I am glad I started early about 2 years before i am 66
  16. Yes , I agree do it yourself , to be honest I have only ever done it once but found the whole process quite easy , I just told the truth about everything and my Thai girlfriend was granted a 6 month Visa without any issues at all.
  17. You must ask for Bank Guarantee Letter. That's what they call it fir some reason
  18. It takes about 1 minute to do online and it probably took you a lot longer to write your question about if to do it or not.
  19. It does sound like the idle stop system , it takes a bit of getting used to , I had mine disconnected as I just couldn't get used to the engine cutting out in traffic after 2 seconds
  20. My advice is wait for the bill to arrive , normally they arrive in mid April , I know a guy in Jomtiem who last went in and asked for his bill . The staff who then searched for his address found there outdated system hadn't issued a bill for his place for 12 years and then a few days later he got an invoice for 54,000 baht.
  21. I received two speeding fines last year from a trip from Chiang Mai to Phuket , 500 baht each , when I paid them I got a receipt with the No 1 on it , I then realised I was the probably the only person who had ever paid
  22. Definitely agree that's the best option , 1,900 every year and 2 hours of your time once a year and do the 90 day report online takes 3 minutes
  23. I think your very very lucky to receive anything back , it sounds to me like you wasted the agents time and while wasting time with you they could have been making money somewhere else. The agent probably after you paid the 15,000 deposit , informed the owner the they had rented the place and then strarted preparing a contract only to be told you changed your mind , we call people like you "Tinewasters" were I come from
