I'm using an aircard on my laptop with True. 3G is great, I'm in the center of town. When I upgraded my aircard software to 4G, I only got 1 bar, so I went back to 3G, 4 bars most of the time.

BonChon Chicken has a good special this month and next. For 199 baht you get 4 pieces of nice sized boneless breast, fries, cole slaw, pickles, can of coke. Price includes 10% service charge and 7% VAT. I had the non-spicy and it is delicious. Slaw was very good too. Fries were so good I did not need ketchup. For 249 baht you can get the fish special with 4 pieces of breaded fish. I went at lunch time on Friday it was not crowded at all.

It's not the presence of a couple of umbrella vendors that bothers me: it's the way they cover the entire beach and practice cartel pricing. And, lately, the way they want to beat the sh*t out of you if you don't care to subscribe to their service.

I remember 20+ years ago I used to go to Jomtien beach every day for a cup of coffee after lunch. I used to sit and drink my coffee in the shade of an umbrella and have a nap for an hour and only pay for the coffee. And the vendor was glad to have me there.

These days I just go home after lunch and make my own coffee.

It sucks being poor. It's worth 30 baht if you enjoy your time there, doesn't have to be a whole day.

Not true at Pattaya. The bank letter states that I have had the money in the bank for the whole year. I copied the closed book to show that it was rolled over. I do this every year. NEver had a problem. And each January I get the tax back.
