  1. The Thais always seem to figure out something.

So which nationalities (other than Chinese) will REPLACE these vanishing Russkies?

I asked this question also to my property agent: acc. to him, the investments from Russians are going down, but those from Indians! and Arabs are continously rising.

    Guess, which I would prefer...

ever stayed on the same hotel floor with Indians and Arabs?

And what do the Arabs have to sell on the world market that's different from the Ruskies? Are the Arabs now gonna finance their Thai holidays and condo purchases by selling dates?

I think the Arabs sell oil in US dollars, so the price per barrel is down but they have volume.

  2. 1 THB = 2 rouble now. Complete crash today and interest rates are up to 17% there.

You'll only find Russians in 7 elevens and Tesco from now on , maybe they can afford to buy water and bread .

7-11 too hi-so, water cost 10 baht for a small bottle there. I predict long lines of Ruskies filling up at the water machines around town, where it's 1-2 baht a litre ? As for bread...the same, more likely a family of four buys a 5 baht packet of Khow niow to share amoungst themselves along with a fried chicken wing.

It's really too bad for them really but that's what you get when you take on the United States...you get slapped down! They should never have vote in the Putin petty dictator.

Sanctions are helping but mainly it is the big drop in oil price. Venezuela is hurting too.

  3. This is a tropical country of Thailand and people have traditionally going around shirtless! So, naturally I have been brought up in this environment and shirtless is nothing strange. Maybe you should open your freaking eyes and look around in what freaking country you live in right now??? See any snow?

This is also about freaking BK and not fine dining or in an aircraft, so your comparison is moot. Nobody is conducting any "official business" at a freaking BK joint.

And what the xxxxxx hell does my parent's has to do anything with this?

I had parents as much as you had one.

Bull. I live in Pattaya and I've never seen a shirtless Thai inside an eating place. You had parents but were they at all clean?

  4. I went to a Wat that had a huge elephant staue as the gate, you drive in under the belly. Also a Wat that is shaped like a boat, near a lake. And a floating restaurant place, you rent a floating room, order food. Nice place to visit but I don't want to live there. It's probably okay if you're working.

  5.

The best way to get to the River Kwai from Bangkok is by train ! Forget the buses. And the train goes over the bridge.

If you take the bus from Pattaya Nua station . get the Eastern bus terminal.

The train station is not far. If you are in Banglamphu, BKK. the station is just across the river and you can walk there. You might get some info/connection at the Pattaya train sta.

Is it the Wongwian Yai train station? The Sky Train goes there from Ekkamai bus station. The new extension crosses the river now.

  6. Dear Bob,

Sometimes you can be lucky enough to enough either to have no upstairs neibour, or just a considerate one. Most certainly the View Talay's rank as some of the worst when it comes to build quality, rumor has it their bare shell unit ( excluding land of course), cost them Baht 10K per sm. that would have been V.T's. 1, 2,and 3 later ones would be maybe 15K. A fantastic money making formula. Many people made a fortune on these, buying off plan, and selling on the contract, as they are a cash rich company, with low or no risk, even without using the non existent escrow account. These days however, the "flipping" days are not what they used to be.

I did notice an ad. in the latest "Pattaya Property Guide" promoting the usual artists impression, of a new condo boasting 30cm partition walls, that would stop most or even all of the "transmitted noise" you mentioned coming from adjacent units, but would do nothing for the 'Impact noise"as I previously mentioned, but it is certainly a move in the right direction.

All this is of course is part of the downsides of communal living, but there are many other advantages that balance things up.

The problem where I stay is noise from neighbors who leave the hall door open, I guess for airflow. The sound bounces off the concrete walls.

  7. There is a solution

Ban all watercraft from beach areas therefore these dangerous killers will not be needed

If people want a speedboat to Koh Larn then use the Bali Hi - there is no need to have them running a ferry service from the beaches - and as for jet skis well we all know what we would do with them

Time for change - the local authorities have been unable to do anything more than talk about it - bring in people that actually do stuff and not just hold meetings

Ban, ban, ban. Please go home or stop complaining. You can't protect stupid people from themselves.

  8. When the hell is this stupid shit going to stop. We report our address every 90 days and at extension of stay. What the hell else do these idiots want. They have computers update are address at the time of reporting and extending stay.

Oh dear. Don't like it? Go home.

Want to live in their country? Abide by their rules.

What a pig-headed comment. It's one thing to live in a country and expect people to fit in to their way of life, customs etc - but it's quite another to expect them to put up with stupid rules like this without complaining. How many millions of hours will be wasted logging millions of reports ?. I'll bet not a single useful end result comes of it (except the fines I suppose).

LOL. How many millions of hours will be wasted posting on Thaivisa?
