  1. I teach British Literature and there is a lot of wonderful stuff out there. "Beowulf" has a universal appeal that many young people can find appealing. A monster destroys a village and murders residents on a nightly basis, so Beowulf, the hero, comes in to stop him. "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" is excellent, too.

Of course, you can't go wrong with Shakespeare. "Macbeth" is Shakespeare's shortest (and in my opinion) best play. It is about a greedy, selfish man who kills everyone in his path toward becoming king. Again, the students really seem to find this appeal, too, since they all wish they could do things in order to get power.

You can also make the student do daily journal entries. Go onto google or yahoo and type in "high school journal topics" and you should be able to find hundreds, if not thousands.

If you need to brush up on British Literature, I'd look for an old anthology book as well as a literary terms book in order to assist with explicating the poetry. Yes, it may be challenging for your current situation, but the end result can be rather rewarding.

Oh, sorry to come off as an amateur...I guess if I come off as a troll, you come across as a stuffy, pedantic, flunky of the Pattaya scene who is so hip deep in his own garbage, demons, or otherwise, that you have to chastise those with less experience than you.

Okay. Enjoy your ladyboy in the bathroom. I will be ambitious and think of more positive ways to contribute to forum conversations. Sorry for keeping an open mind. I guess your ladyboy is tapping your shoulder and telling you to hurry up.

    Have a nice day.

I actually had visions of you stamping your feet while you were typing that! Brought a smile to my face, really!

Stuffy, pedantic & a flunky just about covers it. As for Pattaya, sorry, way off base.

    What are ladyboys?

    Ivan replied:

It is interesting to note that you fantasize about other men, such as me "stomping" my feet. I don't tend to get very excited about posts on an informal forum such as this.

Ignorance is bliss, so the next time you are in Thailand and that attractive woman with the broad shoulders and the Adam's apple starts to entice you, go along with her. You'll have a pleasant "surprise" that I'm sure a guy like you will rather enjoy.

    My reply:

Hi Ivan, first off, let me apologise for thinking it was a troll post earlier; that was out of order and at the time I thought it was a wind-up.

That said, I think you may have got yourself muddled about who has the fantasies about other men. Please read your post #34 and this one that I am replying to. Seems to me that you are all about ladyboys (whatever they are) in bathrooms and attractive women with broad shoulders.

My wife doesn't come close to that description, and as for the next time I am in Thailand? I visited Belfast in January and that was the first time I have been home in almost 13 years. It was a long 10 day break! Back here again, at work & happy!

Have a good Songkran mate, and mellow out a bit wai.gif

All of my latest posts have been to you, "chrisinth." I have no interest in anything other than the female persuasion. Why do you think I was asking Johnny for clarification about tips on picking up women in the first place? Where do you get any sense that I am interested in ladyboys? Because I was saying that one was tapping you on the shoulder, that certainly does not mean I have any interest whatsoever in dudes dressed in drag.

Please clarify: You mean a woman is going to ask to see my ID, or I should be checking hers?

    Also:

Please clarify: No ID on my person, no money on my person? No ID on BG, no money exchanged with BG?

    Again, please clarify.

Check the girl's ID card to see that she is the legal age for sex

If she can't produce an ID card, walk away; it isn't worth the risk. It is the law in Thailand that everybody carries their ID card.

  5. I think the hardest part here is getting over the girl in question. Sure there are plenty of others around but my friend (ok maybe me) wants to believe she might change. Can they ever? I don't know but at the moment I'm staying with her kidding myself she won't do it again. And i've never once cheated on anyone either. I'm a firm believer in karma too but it's a read head trip when these things happen.

Once a cheater, always a cheater, so no, she won't change. I have to ask....Are you like 20 years old or something? I have no idea why any man would continue to see a woman who has already been unfaithful. One, who knows what she is doing when you are not with her? Two, why would you risk putting yourself in another situation where you discover that she has been unfaithful? Three, why would you so pitifully stick around with a woman who clearly has low values and a sneaky, shady, dishonest side to her?

Have some respect for yourself, be a man, and kick her to the curb. There's other women out there, and though you may harbor feelings for this particular one, she certainly is not worth it in the long run.

  7. In my opinion, if I ever found out a woman had cheated on me once, that would be the end of it. What is the point of getting back together with someone who has already gone behind your back?

No matter what the outcome, your mate seems to be foolish for continuing to be with her. There are many available women, especially in Thailand, so to continue to date one who has cheated on you is preposterous.

  8. Typical 30K baht salary a month? What age is the average teacher there? Any additional pay for persons with Master's Degrees in Education, a valid teaching license from USA, public school teaching experience, and a good work record?

  9. I was wondering what the difference is between a freehold and a leasehold?

I currently live in the States and a "fee simple" condo is a condo that you own, can pay off, and have as your home for life.

A leasehold, on the other hand, is something that you lease, and all cushy descriptions aside, you are basically renting long term.

Can you literally OWN a condo in Bangkok? Can you pay it off and either stay in it yourself mortgage-free (or rent it out to a tenant for a rental income)?

    Please let me know. Thanks.

  10. The logistics of this type of enterprise seem downright impractical. How many farangs can you track back from Sukhumvit, to their hotel, make them sign in, add additional information, leave fingerprint samples, DNA samples, hair samples, ___________, just to "hang" with "Oi" on Soi 4?

I admit, I was "had" about an hour ago, but I had an epiphany a few minutes later: TIT.

  11. Well many airlines will not let you fly without it. Read the ticket conditions. Have a nice trip back from the airport. wai.gif Seriously if you do not have it contact the airline now.

    I still don't get this.

What if, just say, somebody else bought the ticket for me, such as a gift? Do I need to ask them to borrow their credit card while I am away in Thailand?

    Please respond.

It is now a condition of most Airlines that the Cardholder be one of the passengers, so you cannot use someone else's card to purchase a ticket. This is done for obvious security reasons.

I simply don't have that credit card anymore. What are my options, if this is so?

Also, I don't think any airline person has asked to see my credit card in the past. I fly probably three times a year.
