Finally a country where reason rules, unlike other countries where they keep saying guns don't kill people.

They are right but it gets a hell of a lot easier if you use a gun instead of a spoon.

But if access to weapons was the reason for mass shootings and murder, why does New Zealand historically have one of the lowest murder and shooting incident rates in the world BEFORE these laws were proposed? Maybe there are other factors at play in highly criminal societies that restricting access to firearms won't solve? And just for the record, I don't like guns, own guns, or ever will willingly use one

  2. When the new constitution was pushed through the referendum, I remember people arguing about the weight of the senate's vote. At the time, I was under the impression that the initial selection of the PM involved both houses thus the need for 376 votes.

Later on, the government's legal experts said that the senate would only be brought into the equation if a party did not manage to win a majority (more than 50%) of the lower house seats, or form a coalition with more than 50% of the seats...so only 251 needed. Now, all articles and statements only allude to the version I wrote in my first paragraph...so what happened to the other version?

Am I going crazy? Does anyone else remember the alternate interpretation? If so, please provide me with a link.

(I know it doesn't really matter because originally no members of the NCPO were allowed to stand for election, hence the "outside PM" route, which has now been totally forgotten, but I would still like to confirm that I am not, in fact, losing my mind.)

If the voters had raised the issue before doing anything with the ballot paper, the EC president said the authority could have given them the correct ballot, he said.

The EC president is full of shit because the paragraph preceding this one clearly states:

Netizens had posted that when they drew the attention of station officials to the mistake, they were told to use the incorrect ballot

So they DID raise the issue before doing anything with the ballot paper, but the "authority" told them to use it anywar rather than give them the correct ballot.

A cynic might think that since it does not affect Bangkok, then it isn't much of a concern to the government.

    A cynic might be correct...

A realist might think that close to zero laws are enforced in this country due to a totally farcical police force and justice system and so the lack of action has more to do with that rather than some conspiratorial nonsense that only negative factors affecting Bangkok are ever dealt with in this country.

    A realist might be correct.

It actually says consumption and distribution if you took time to read!!!????

Did you take the time to read? Nowhere does it mention consumption. No alcohol ban that I've seen over the past 10 years, even on religious holidays, has included a ban on consumption. The reason is that since consuming alcohol isn't illegal, they would have change the law every time they wanted an alcohol ban. The authorities can, however, place restrictions on the sale and/or purchase of alcohol.

  6. For people on the forum (Not this thread necessarily) stating that "In other countries, the PM's allowed to run for elections etc. Why are state officials not allowed to run etc." Just a reminder: The original "Outsider PM" nonsense was brought about because the "Law" stated that members of the current NCPO were not allowed to compete in elections or hold a position in the new parliament. That is why the issue of Prayuth being a "state official" or "public figure" matters. It also show what a goldfish memory this country has.

56% said they support the current government or had in the past.

Now we know how Big P stays "popular" in these polls. And good polls should not have layered questions anyway - it just screws up the data. So they basically ask, "Have you ever liked Prayuth?" etc. etc. Hell, even Yingluck would probably answer "Yes" to that question, despite hating him now.

Prawit told the bodies to consider using CCTV and electronic traffic sign technologies to help control vehicle speeds.

So he told the bodies to consider using tools that they already <deleted> use. It just shows how retarded this wart is: he takes salaries for all his posititions, but doesn't have a clue about anything.

I tried to re read this article a few times and I really don't understand what the guy has done wrong or how it discredits the Phalang Pracharat.

Best i can understand is that the guy claims he got his election card and EC manual at the same time. I don't see how that discredits the Phalang Pracharat.

Thanit Wor claims that he received the candidates election card along with the EC election manual, and he claims that this shows the EC is helping Phalang Pracharat.

Palang Pracharat claims that he is lying.

I have a problem to believe this story . If you really have a normal 1 year visa based on retirement and a valid re-entry , immigration should not ask you any questions. I would call Big Joke directly if this had happened to me.

I've worked in Thailand for 9 years. Last year, when leaving Thailand I was grilled for having a 21 day extension from CW. I told them that because CW makes up random rules, I was (without warning) required to get a Police Clearance certificate for my new extension. They were "nice" enough to give me the time to complete their random new requirement. I explained everything in Thai, but the IO wasn't happy and took my passport to a supervisor before I was allowed to leave.

Upon returning 3 days later, I was asked questions again: Where do you work? (Named place) When does your contract expire? (7 months from now) How long is your new contract? (2 years) Where did you work before? (Named place)

I feel that I have even less reason to be questioned since I can't be working illegally, but it shows you that they don't really give a shit whether you're legit or not.

Enjoy the appeal of  cynical ignorance of  fact if thats what  makes you happy.

Only slightly removed  from the environs of those that pretend  blissful existence either on  sunny beaches  or in air conditioned vertical stacks of  coffins there are those who depend on rain to both  make ends  meet  in life and  feed the ignorant whose lives and incomes would not be  possible without.

The urban myth is that food comes from a  supermarket.

You must be a barrel of laughs at a party. I never disputed that cloud seeking works, and I know it's bee around for a long time and can be effective when atmospheric conditions allow. However, sometimes it's fun to make a joke.

Can some of you internet tough guys come up with a fit punishment using the following items:
    - 1 horsewhip

    - motoroil

    - handsaw

    - 8 meters of rope

    - colony of red ants

    Maximum 500 words.

Please give the titles of the movies you watched and used as inspiration in the appendix.

Such boring tools...I would rather go with a drill, wire, a pulley, and a winch: Drill a hole laterally through the hands (beneath the metacarpal bones); thread through wires and pass them through the pulley and attached them to the winch; wind until the bones break.
