Prayut To Be Held Accountable For His Deeds Over Last 9 Years: Pita
SABloke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This guy is not good at playing the political game (and at this stage, he needs to). He should've sung any tune the senators wanted him to sing (about ALL topics) and after being made PM and forming a government, he could've taken steps to maje the changes necessary for Thailand to "Move Forward". He only needed 12 moths until the senators were out and then big consitutional changes could be made. It almost seems like he is intentionally throwing the fight ????- 169 replies

How? Does each exhibitor pay 23 million for a stall, or are visitors predicted to spend 700k each over the 5 days (hotels, food etc) ? Either way, seems expensive ????

15 million votes = 151 seats; 1 million votes = 71 seats. Sounds about right. -

Two More Parties to Join Move Forward-led Coalition
SABloke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The other problem is that Anutin is a snake: he promised not to support the coup makers (pre election) then formed a government with them. Also, MFP have stated that they wouldn't side with any coup makers (is BJT supporting coup makers to form a government culpable action in the eyes of MFP is the question) -
Military-backed senators refuse to back MFP form a government

Thanks for the link. I guess I remember another senate vote where some voted against him (just for show of course). -
Military-backed senators refuse to back MFP form a government
SABloke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Does any anybody remember the results of the last election - I recall that the senators didn't vote 250 - 0 for Prayuth since the makeup is 150 Military 100 Industry/Private Sector - so MFP need only to convince a few of those 100 to vote for them.- 215 replies

Prayut Might Prolong Rule With Minority Government: Academic
SABloke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes and no. The majority voted for it because it was the only way to get an election. Voting "no" would've continued NCPO rule indefinitely if their words and actions were to be believed. Furthermore, changes were made to the draft constitution without the support of a referendum. Fundamental changes to how the country and its financial resources were allowed to be governed. -

EU Diplomats Concerned Over Possible Dissolution Of Major Party: Anutin
SABloke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I understand "diplomatic language", thank you. However, perhaps you missed the opening of the article which states "... according to Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul." ???? Thai (and other) politicians have a history of putting words in other countries' mouths - they get away with it more here due to poor journalism and those that support it. -
EU Diplomats Concerned Over Possible Dissolution Of Major Party: Anutin
SABloke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This "news" article is basically hearsay. The use of the word "apparently" multiple times is a clear sign. Have any of these embassies actually confirmed asking these questions? -

Hua Hin Airport in political limbo until after the Thai election
SABloke replied to george's topic in Thailand News
I've driven 5 hours from BKK to Cha Am during holidays, so a 7 hour estimate to Hua Hin is really not that far off.
