  1. This is my "situation" :

My passport ( from The Netherlands) has almost run out of pages, it's good for one more border run , ( i have a Non O multiple entry visa married) which will give me 3 months, by that time i also will need a new visa.

    So here is my plan:

Do that borderrun ( Cambodia) which leaves me with one free page, and 90 days.

Apply for a new passport at my Embassy in BKK ( at there website they state that at the application they will make the old passport invalid except any remaining valid visa/stamps.( that will be the last Thailand entry stamp/TM 6 card) after 3 weeks i will get the new passport and when the time comes ( somewhere in May) i have to get a new Non O multiple entry visa. ( in Laos)

    So i was thinking:

leaving Thailand with the "old" ( partly invalid passport apart from the last entry stamp and TM6 departure card.

Enter Laos with the new "virgin" passport get a Laos visa on arrival and apply for my new Non O at the Thai Consulate.

When entering Thailand again using the new passport/ Thai visa.

Is this the way to go?? my only concern is the departure from Thailand with a partly invalid passport.

By then my current non O visa will be expired so i don't see the point having anything ( the departure TM6 card) transferred to the new passport.

mayby i'm wrong, so any advice will be appreciated. .

  2. Let's hope those facebook photos are old pics and work on the track has come a ways since then.

varying from 7 months to 3 months old,I was there 3 weeks ago and no significant changes.

So a lot of work to be done.... although they work almost around the clock i have my doubts it will be ready ( approved, tested, etc) before October let's keeps our fingers crossed.

yeah i was thinking like we might drive on it!!!

When you take a off road bike you can do a few laps on the tracklaugh.png

Not sure about that 500cc and more sounds kind of strange.

It might be a special parking "show" area.

All of Buriram United/BRIC events are always free and open for everybody

I will see if 2morrrow i can take a sneak peek and see what there up to and if there is any sensational progress on the track.

  3. Good to see people start to believe in BRIC, when news came out i noticed a lot of people where quite sceptical.

I live not far from the track and go there quite often to see the progress, still much do be done, but it looks good, the whole tracklayout is there, the pitbuilding reached the second floor.i hope they make it to the 4-5 october deadline ( Japanese super GT races)

Here are some pics from BRIC facebook page:

For sure i will check out that Big bike party, from what i've heard it's not a real "bike week" but just a rock concert/party, to promote the track. i hope there will get a good attendence.

  4. Interesting thread and reactions,

When posting such a video, you're sure to get some strong reactions.

Riding at such speeds at any public road is potential dangerous, but you don't own a Z1000 to stick to the speed limits................

Op was lucky and had a good reaction on the "situation" not aprove or disaprove his riding style.

Ofcourse a lot of people pointing there finger at the OP how irisponsible he his,but i think despite his high speed he might be more thinking about other roadusers then the average ( Thai) roaduser, who think it;s totaly normal to take a shortcut on the wrong side of the road.

To everybody out there, be safe and enjoy riding ( fast or slow)

  5. Thanks again everyone for there input.wai.gif

I'm taking my time and look into all suggestions and good advice,

Considered a desktop/all in one but i already got a 21" tv/monitor with HDMI connection for homeuse.

I focus my search on 2 brands: Asus and Lenovo.

My 2 old Asus laptops ( A6U 8 years and a Eeepc mini laptop 5 years both on XP) are still going strong.

But as i wrote, the arrival of internet made me decide it's time to step up.

So on my list for now:

    Asus or Lenovo

    i3 or i5 processor

4 gb memory ( upgradable to 8 gb)

    Os on solid state disc

    i've seen a nice one @ 22.990....... Asus Vivibook S400CA

    http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_VivoBook_S400CA/

    Any good.....??

  6. Thanks everbody for there input!!

I forget to mention; i'm looking for a new laptop

Internet connection is good and i'm already enjoying new downloaded music and movies.

Still in the research stage; looking at the websites ( like InvadeIT)

and gonna check out some shops in the Mall in Korat.

so: 4gb memory a i5 or i7 processor ( haswell) have to be on my list.

Again thanks for all the good advice!!

  7. After waiting for around 3 years, we finally have a internet connection ( TOT) in our village.

the world is opening up againsmile.png ( before i used an aircard)

A good time to buy a new computer and i'm wondering what's the best buy for a budget of around 20/25K,

for which specs i have to look, and best operating system.

I have good experience with ASUS, but not really fixed on a particular brand, so i'm open for suggestions on any brand which provides a good service in Thailand.

The new computer will be used for: internet, skype, downloading torrents etc etc so mainly for entertaining purposes.

    Thanks in advance

  8. I don't think these new 650cc are imported, if they were the price would be higher.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Which price? We're debating on thin air and rumors.

You can stay re-assured, if Honda was to build these in Thailand (means opening a new production line and huge investment), it would be a very well know and publicized fact.

If and when these come to Thailand, will be imports.

Wasn't it, that another member ( Karlos) had a friend who was working on the engine productionline at a Honda factory in Thailand who started all the rumors??

    Were's smoke there's fire??

I realise nothing is certain yet, and it might be all wishful thinking.

But ooh i hope the "rumors" are true.

    Please Honda Thailand .... please....

  9. Things are looking good!!

The faired one for me please.

87 HP is enough for me, but others might think different, sounds a bit low for a 650cc 4 inline.

I like the Swingarm and style of the exhaust.

My guess (and hope) on the price is 320K

  10. I would choose one of the 2 stroke bikes, no real life experience with those bikes but i still spot them every now and then, so parts are still out there.

The GPX is ( like Allen B said more something for a 15 year old)

The DT is a nice classic dirt bike, when you find a good original one leave it as it is,I agree the suzuki A100 will look good as a cafe racer.

For inpiration a picture of my TZR 150 cafe racer which i build as a low budget project 1,5 year ago for just a few thousend baht.

Fun to ride and i'm getting stared at every time i'm riding it.

But an aircooled engine like on the Suzuki looks "cleaner"

If i'm going to build another 2 stroke Cafe racer i would choose an old Kawasaki GTO

  11. Enough good advice on the paperwork issues.

About the bike: i think you're indeed confused about the term "superbike" which are 600/750/1000cc fully faired bikes with power between 100/160 Hp not really the kind of bikes you're looking at for a relaxed trip.

IMO a bike like Kawa KLX250/ Honda CRF250 ( or the motard versions ) will be just fine for you're planned trip, with a luggage rack you can take enough stuff, and these kind of off road bikes give you the freedom to ride almost any kind of surface.

The rainseason is as good as finished, so no need to worry about that, Actually Nov/Dec/Jan are the best months for such a trip.

You don't have to buy new for around 100k baht you will find a good secondhand one and that leaves you plenty of cash for gear and pocketmoney.

    Enjoy you're trip!!
