  1. Since living in Thailand, I’ve owned a Toyota, Ford and Mazda. Hopefully my next car will be a Haval from GWM. I’m wondering if anyone owns or has owned a vehicle from GWM and what the ownership experience has been like, in terms of reliability, the service centre etc, compared to Japanese, Korean oe European manufacturers.
  2. You do realise that Tesla uses Made in China batteries, right?
  3. I’m also waiting on the H6 PHEV. NEDC range of 201 km (real world, maybe 150?) would be incredible. This would even beat out the all electric Mazda MX30 and also the Nissan Leaf? Bookings are supposed to open this month.
  4. Also reference to Bandersnatch’s post. I fully agree that he should have planned his trip much better. There were times when I was tearing my hair out watching him “blunder” from one charger to the next. But if I’m not mistaken, there were 2 times when he was trying to charge at MG dealers where they told him that charging was only possible at a later hour so my original post was whether this was a conscious decision being made by the dealers to save on their electric bills (on peak and off peak hours).
  5. I’m interested if you genuinely know anyone that wants to get rid of their EV. Why not help them out by advertising it here for free? I’m sure I’m not the only one waiting impatiently for stocks to normalise.
  6. You obviously think that I’m trolling. That’s fine, you can think whatever you like. For those that are interested in a serious discussion, you might like to watch the video I was referring to. A YouTuber known as thailand electric car. European who owns a MG ZS EV. Be warned though, it’s a rather long video.
  7. Disagree. Supposedly, there’s a MG dealer every 150 km of travel in which case, one can easily traverse the whole of Thailand. But if they don’t have charging abilities during the day, then this weakens their USP significantly. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of charging stations available all over Thailand.
  8. Was watching some videos about ev charging in Thailand and it seems that some MG dealers are only switching on their chargers during off peak hours and not during the day. If so, then the case for buying a MG has weakened significantly.
  9. Was at GWM CM yesterday. You can walk out with a great car the same day you hand over the money. Personally, I don’t think I will ever buy a Honda or Toyota anymore. Overpriced, old fashioned and completely boring.
  10. I’ve been waiting the past 2 months to be able to put in my order as it pretty much ticks all the boxes. I have had a Mazda 2 the past 4 years and it’s a fantastic car. Averages 20km/l and I’ve even driven it to Malaysia, before the pandemic. However, it’s just a tiny bit too small especially when I have to take my 4 dogs along. My only concern with the Haval would be it’s reliability. Apparently the engine setup is rather complex even though reviews about the current HEV model have been mostly positive.
  11. Yes. I had the vendor do my installation and the battery (Huawei Luna) will also be installed by them if I decide to do so.
  12. Noob questions which I would appreciate if those of you that know may answer. I recently installed a 3Kwh system (Huawei Inverter, yes I know…) which I’m delighted with. Allows me to abuse the aircons during the day when the sun is shining. However, at best, I get about 2.6 KWh, because my panels are installed on a south facing and a west facing roof; 3 and 4 panels respectively. I’m now thinking of adding a 10Kwh battery bank to store excess energy when available. My question as follows; - if my battery is full, will it also power my house during the day if solar is insufficient? That is, does it take priority over energy from the grid? I’m also considering EV / PHEV which my current 3Kwh solar panel system on its own will not be sufficient (meaning I would be drawing from the grid) Appreciate your opinions.
  13. Talking about solar charging, would the car be “smart “ enough to charge only from solar power and not from the grid, in the case where it’s an overcast day?
