  1. Matter of time before TSMC comes under the control of China. Why else is America panicking. He who laughs last laughs best.
  2. Atto boot space 440 litres. H6 600 litres. Not sure about Neta U. Can’t find info online but looking at the shape, the back curves down a lot.
  3. Thanks for all the above info. Very useful indeed. I will do some research on boot storage capacity, back seats up and down. That’s my main criteria as I have 4 dogs (large, medium and small x2) that travels everywhere with us.
  4. The wellies I bought for the time I lived in BKK is rotting from lack of use here in CM. Furthermore, the air quality here has been excellent the past couple of years.
  5. It is highly entertaining to read how many here are predicting doom and gloom for the world’s next superpower. The development of China is something never seen before in the world. The BRI will bring incredible benefits to participating nations. Yes, of course there are setbacks; this is normal for any large scale projects and this is the largest global project the world has ever seen. Fact of the matter is that China will single-handedly pull all its Asean neighbours out of 3rd world to 1st world status and challenge the hegemony of the west. In time to come, the Global South and BRICs will decouple from the USD as the world’s reserve currency. The writing is on the wall. The wests’ decline has begun and the sanctions imposed on Russia and other countries has just released the brakes entirely.
  6. Again, a bit too small for my needs. The H6 is a C-SUV.
  7. Unfortunately the Seal is more like a sports coupe whereas I need a SUV for my dogs ????
  8. I would definitely consider the BYD Tang if available for sale now but I doubt if it will be available for sale within this year. The Haval H6 should be available for booking within this month I believe.
  9. Your experiences seem slightly different from mine. Having said that, I haven’t driven to Msia in the last couple of years due to COVID. 2. Car sticker. Are you referring to the number plate sticker or car permit issued by the Malaysian road transport near the immigration? AFAIK, the latter is free and valid for a month. 3. Never had to do either forms before. Was never asked for it. I always just drove straight pass Thai customs. 4. Not all toll booths accept cash. Best is to a touch n go card and top it up at a petrol station. Amount depends where you want to go. 5. This restriction specifically targets Singaporeans crossing into Johore to fill up. I doubt you will be stopped from filling Ron 95 at the northern stations. Filling is self service; credit card at the pump. No filling attendants
  10. Wow. Some mouth watering temptations here. I wouldn’t hesitate trying them out if I were still gainfully employed. Sadly, I’m retired so have to watch the finances a bit more. Also, I live in CM lol.
  11. Problem is that there currently isn’t a big enough BEV for my needs. If I’m not mistaken, the biggest BEV currently is the MG ZS? I need something bigger like the H6 PHEV which also has a nedc range of 201 km. I make regular road trips to Msia and wouldn’t want to do it in a BEV at the moment.
  12. I mean applying for a Thai tourist visa, not non-o immigrant visa.
  13. Not really. OP has said that the son in law is allowed to use the vehicle in case of emergency
  14. And yet, there are those on this forum complaining about how cumbersome it is to apply for a Thai visa. In my opinion, a lot of the staff working in the embassies are prejudiced against Asians. Could be because they preferred a posting to another western country instead of Thailand.
  15. What kind of occupations go you have in your home countries that allow you to take a vacation of more than 30 days a year? I have worked for many companies but not one of them would have approved such an extended leave. I think this is why Thailand has cumbersome visa restrictions. Regular tourists come in on visa exempt in most cases, anyone wanting to stay more than 30 days may be intending to do more than normal touristic activities. Having said that, applying for a visa to most western countries is no less difficult, and that applies even when travelling with a tour group for 10 days.
  16. What do you think gods are? Aliens, as in not from planet Earth.
  17. Was watching some news reports about how the prices for energy in the UK is soaring, potentially leading to doubled prices from Oct onwards and even more from Jan 2023. This will offset a main advantage of EVs over ICE vehicles. While not strictly Thai related, there is also the possibility of energy prices rising here significantly. At the same time, petrol prices, even though it has come down recently, are still high and might yet increase again in the near future. So deciding on whether to purchase an EV or ICE is risky either way. That’s why I think a PHEV is the most prudent route as one can mitigate the impact of high prices better. Also, no range anxiety. What do you all think?
  18. That will only work if your untrusted son in law remembers to hook up the battery tender after he had to use the car for an emergency.
  19. Not sure about that. The last time, I crossed at Betong border. The gadget he used was his eyes. He allowed me to enter but not the car behind. There was no contest, you could hardly see into that car. Previously at the Sadao border, I never saw any such gadgets either.
  20. I thought about fitting a tracker in my car as I had a trust issue with my ex. In the end, I decided it was easier to just make her my ex.
  21. With a front door camera, I can see who’s coming into my porch. I can then call my neighbour who has a gun to shoot that person. Ps; my neighbour has keys to my house so I’m not concerned about him breaking in.
  22. You need to sell your car in order to raise 800k baht so presumably, you don’t have much savings. If you are fully dependent upon your social security for your daily expenses, 50k a month doesn’t go a long way. How about medical bills? Are you fully covered? Sounds very risky to me.
  23. Unless your car was built in the 80’s, you won’t have a problem. At that is required is a 3rd brake light at the rear of the car. Make sure your windows are not too heavily tinted. You will be denied entry unless you then peel off your window tints. Includes windscreen as well.
