However, you not noticing increases in prices means a) probably you do not do your own shopping, and b) you not noticing does not make the increased prices go away... and C) your indifference to increased prices would be an enticement for companies to further increases....

The Thai Government is looking for its senior citizens and provides a monthly payment to the elderly of thb 700. So the thb 2000 paid by OP seems to be fair enough....
