And we hope this time it will be a coup by, with, and for the people. Time for the citizens of Thailand to show the army the door, and make it blatantly clear that if you EVER try another coup again, it will be met with severe resistance and will not end well for the clowns.
Things have changed. The youth here is maturing, and they are smarter, wiser, more astute, and more visionary than their complicit and rather naive folks were.
The only way that you can have a coup by and for the people without the military is for the government in power to resign and allow fair and free elections.
Any coup by the people that does not cause the government to call an election is going to have to be by the military.
As to the UDD this is not a surprise move as they are loved and revered in the north.
The last thing that Prayut wants is to kick that nest of bees. The farmers and village people up there have very little to lose. By arresting Nattawut all they will be doing is inviting that sea of red to come to Bangkok.
Imagine if the UDD protestors and the student protestors all got together.
Forget about flash mobs it would be a mass mob that would have a lot of money and support.

Thailand needs to let the youth try running this country. The only way it is going to get better is if the rules are changed for elections.
Being North American I can never understand this idea of party elected people. To me that is a sure road to corruption. People that get appointed by the party to fill seats usually do so not because of what they know or expertise but because of h ow much money or financial control in the party they have or someone hs over them.
To me it is simple a person gets voted in by the people 1 person per riding/district.
This makes the person more responsible to the people that elected him/her and also cuts down on the costs and money's paid to people that are doing nothing.
The senate should also be elected but then again we are still having trouble with that in Canada.
The last thing you need is a rerun PM someone that has been there had trouble and left. No matter what the people that ousted them in the first place are still around and all you are doing is rerunning a bad scene.
It is just like in sports where i see the same coaches moving from team to team. Hey they were canned for a reason.

GF works in a gov't hospital so she has been sleeping in the spare bedroom. Something about covid she tells me.
The affection was waning so i opened THAI MATCH and let her catch me looking. Things got better until one of her staff got covid. Now back to square one.
Have told her that I am not going to wait until covid is finished and gone because I do not think it will so she has agreed once I get second shot she moves back into bedroom.
As to kids sleeping with parents a lot of my friends tell me that was normal and a lot of people stil do it.
Wondering how the younger generation feels about it.

There are lots of things but I will correct you one important one.
The Prime minister is not something we are proud of.

So, thanks for admitting it is about you and you only. I am here for the same reasons after all, but I don't go on bashing Canada like it's some 3rd world country. I wonder if you didn't have the the luck of winning birth lottery would you still complain about Canada.
I have a feeling you are trolling for an argument that is not there.
I have never bashed Canada. I simply stated that due to financial and medical differences I was better off her than there. You are the one that assumed I was bashing Canada.
Until you have served 27 years defending Canada as a member of it's military and being a proud Canadian never assume that a person is bashing their country. Or start bashing people that you think have a different belief than you.

So you are living a comfortable life in Thailand thanks to your Canadian government pension funded mostly by taxpayer. Lets not forget that you are paying for private hospitals using Canadian money that 85% of Thais have no access to. Yes, you have to wait a bit so see a specialist god forbid. Most Thais usually die of cancer after getting diagnosed, while my uncle in Quebec (where healthcare system is supposedly the worst in Canada) is getting multi million dollar treatments and continues to chainsmoke. Canada bad... really bad ????
I have no idea what your point is.
The question is what are your plans for the long term.
My answer is due to MY financial restraints and medical needs I am staying here.
While I am glad that your chain-smoking uncle is doing well it does not involve me or my condition.
I spend the better part of 30 yeas with back pain that was never properly diagnosed.
Tell me that is a good medical system compared to see the doctor at 9 get x-ray and MRI see the dr at 3 and scheduled for surgery at 4.
Oh yeah BTW when I contacted family doctor in Canada about the surgery she told me that it was exactly what i needed and I should get it.

Last report I saw Canada had 261 new cases that day. My city of 800k had 13 new cases last Friday. I went for a walk last nite and restaurants, inside and patios, were packed with no one wearing masks. There are numerous walk-in places to go to get any of the top rated vaccines. The CFL camps are open and the first home game here will be at 100% capacity for 2x vax fans. Canada is basicly back to normal so I think your comment is out of line.
My comment was based on where is the best location for me. It has very little to do with vaccination. BUT on that note yes things are opening BUT people are still getting sick and people that live in Canada are telling me that they are getting ready for the 4th wave.
The general Medical system here is miles ahead of Canada in that you can see a specialist and get treatment a lot quicker. Also there is loess stress living her than in Canada.
Financially a pension goes a lot further here than it does in Canada.

I tend to allow others their beliefs However, when it comes to health and finance I can prove that at least in my case I am better off here than in Canada.
Canadian hospitals are system generated and it takes forever to see a specialist and get the necessary tests done. Living in Kingston I was forced to take a bus to Toronto once a month to get a pain shot as there were no clinics that could look after me in the Kingston Ottawa area.
I had a bad back that had me on numerous meds including morphine for the pain for 3 years and doctors there told me there was nothing that could be done. I came here and was immediately x-rayed MRI nd back into the specialists office where it was explained that surgery could resolve my issues and make me drug free. Which they did. As a retired Mil person the treatment was covered by my pension. There is no way we can get the medical care the way we get it here ie same day.
Financially I live on a military pension as well as disability the funds I receive go a lot further than they ever would in Canada. Simple question would you rather be on a Canadian pension living here or trying to live in Canada

Looking at the way things are going in North America and Canada in particular I do not think I would be any better off than I am here either health wise or financially.

Marvin I take it that you are not a fan of history.
This was predicted when covid first came out.
It was also predicted what would happen from the time it came out until now.
THIS H1Nvirus is following the same game as the Spanish flu did from Feb. 1918 until April 1920. It is thought also to have started in China then mutated in the Boston area.
The first wave was bad but not that bad people were able to survive and it seemed to be effectively managed with vaccines until the virus mutated.
Unfortunately people became complacent and did not realizes that it was still a threat and let their guards down.
The the second third and fourth wave hits with a different mutation that the original treatment could not prevent or cure.
17 - 100 million people died and remember back then the only international transit was steam ship so the world was not as close as it is today
This is not gong to be a short term or easy solution where we can blame others.
Vaccination is going to be important but expect to get 4-5 jabs until this thing dies.
It devastated countries then and covid is going to do the same now.

Unfortunately there will be a lot more deaths caused by Covid indirectly. Remember that a lot of the elderly and poor make what little money they have pan handling.
The only thing that can be done is for some of the temples to create soup lines but then again that poses the contact problem.

Pattaya Beach Road is 95% closed. It is a derelict, squalid, run down desolate strip of desperation. That was before the current lockdown. A few places on Jomtien Beach Rd were open but all since closed by police. For the foreseeable future there will be no change. The permanent expat community does not have sufficient energy to fuel a revival. Nobody would want to come here for any reason.
The only way that Pattaya can reopen is to reopen with the idea of being a tourist destination for Thai's.
Walking street is a disaster waiting to happen and will not return to it's "glory" days.
The place is to well known for all the bad reasons and there are nicer venues in Pats to go to if you are looking for entertainment.
The funny thing about the sandbox that people are overlooking is that all the bars are still closed. Therefore most of the working girls are not there.
The restaurants I am sure have liquor restrictions.
Does anyone really think that expats are going to flock to Pats to sit in a bar and drink Coke or pepsi and pay through the nose for what girls return.
Even if they open Pattaya up as long as the country wide bar and liquor ban is in place there will be no Walking street or anywhere else for people to go.

The Flood was more than a local event. suggest you look it up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Thailand_floods

How on earth are the government going to organise the delivery of food and water to all the residents of Bangkok, (let alone other cities)? This government is not known for its organisational abilities, I am just flabbergasted that Dr Opart (-from-the-reality) can make a statement like this. Do you think they've formed a committee yet to determine how they are going to purchase food and water, (from where?) and deliver it?
For those that were here for the flood the local government supplied food to people and it worked.
Asto why wait 2 months. Simple if you lock everyone in how are you going to vaccinate them?

I have three farangs living in my house vicinity. I don't know them, I have no particular wish to know them and apart from the polite nod of the head if we happen to catch each others eye, we ignore each other, which is very good. Why is it that when people move from their home country, they seem to expect any westerner they meet to be their mate? I never understood that. I most probably have nothing in common with my farang neighbors, ( I can't be arsed to find out to be honest), not even a common language, so amiable distance is a good thing.
I do not wnat people to be my "mate" . The only mate I want is of the female species Homo sapien is heterosexual or bi. She is Thai but that is just because most of the species of mates I am looking for are Thai.
As to yur neighbours that is all fine and dandy,
Now if you are talking about these people becoming friends and or best friends and drinking buddies ( your choice of liquid) then I agree with you. I do not know most of the people that I say hello to other than in passing. But I seem to rember that there was something taught to me called Human courtesy that you at least respond if someone greets you.
how much effort does it take to say hello. BTW you might be surprised if you actually talked to these people and found out that they hve common interests.
Who knows.
BUT please do not mate with them if they are males I did not think you ere like that.

Not entirely true in terms of sinovac and border closures though is it?
this article has some information from Chinese scientists on the efficacy of the two Chinese vaccines (spoiler alert, the Chinese vaccines lose efficacy against delta), but read the bit about how the Chinese dealt with a delta cluster in their southern border province. The cluster was similar to the Thonglor cluster in size and the province has more people living in greater density than the population of Thailand. But the Chinese controlled the cluster. An object lesson for Thailand, although immaterial now as the clock can’t be turned back.
of course, all vaccines for any virus have to be continually updated, for the simple reason that viruses mutate. There is nothing new in that.
There is an advantage to being a communist or socialist country like China, NK, Iran etal.
Once the government say s something it is done and there is none of this pesky rights questions 55555

And that tells us why they are having such success with sinovac.
Sinovac like AZ was rushed and created to resolve the covid 19 base virus.
The problem now is that every-time a new variant comes out they have to recheck and reinvent or decide the best way to fight the new variant.

SURVEY: How long before Thailand returns to normal?
in Thailand News
Posted
Considering that there is o country in the world that has solved covid yet and there really does not look like any solution on the horizon. Added to that the financial toll that this is having on world markets and economies I think it is safe to say that while Thailand may want to open and may open in some form that we will not get back to a true normal until 2023. Opening borders is easy, just look at the U.S. They have their southern border wide open with no screening or control. It is getting the right people to come that is going to be hard.
