Phuket Motorbike Taxi Rider Allegedly Sexually Assaults German Tourist
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
This has very little to do with male-dominated worlds. The sad thing about Ilfe is that even if he had been a male, while, it would probably not have been sexual, there is the likelihood that he would have had an issue of some sort. We read online all the time about this guy that had a fight with a ladyboy or the guy that got ripped by a hooker. The challenge to the whole thing is that walking around alone at 1 am is not the safest thing to do no matter what country you are in. Especially for a lady. A fedw important things that were left out. Was she inebriated? The insinuation by the time and fact that she was walking alone is yes but we do not know. Did the guy try to kiss her while driving or molest her while driving? Not the easiest thing to do. Most of all, the thought was why was she walking around Old Phuket town at that hour? Surely all the shops were long closed. Anyway I am not saying she was totally at fault but I have a feeling that male or female walking around at 1 am alone is only inviting issues be you male or female or LGTBQ -

Family seeks refuge from loan shark at Nonthaburi bus stop
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Yes but once it is on the books even the other cops have to be careful. There are other ways to get the money, unfortunately. Not [putting me down, but I think that a lot of time, people on here seem to think that this or that is a Thai issue only. The main thought still stands. The people who are borrowing from them have no credit rating. It is too low to register. They have been refused by the bank and are desperate and, to a point, lacking the education. There is also the prevailing feeling that if the debt gets bad that the government will save them by either wiping their debts or by taming the shylocks. I think probably also there are those that thought they would have their 10k from the government and be able to pay the debt with that or the extra mney they were going to get from the rise in wages -

Why do people think just because they are in a different country, they can do things they would not do at home? I do not condone sexual assault, BUT I have to ask what the hell a woman by herself is doing walking the streets of Phuket by herself at 1 in the morning. Also, what condition was she in? If this was a guy getting mugged we would simply say he should not be wandering around drunk at that hour by himself. -

Sorry, to burst your bubble, but loan sharks are common all over the world and have been around since before Jesus. Just like prostitution, they are a by-product of society that will always be needed. -
Family seeks refuge from loan shark at Nonthaburi bus stop

That is quite easy actually. They just advise the lender that if anything happens to these people, they will be arrested and charged. -

Yeah, I was wondering about that also I am sorry I just can not feel any sympathy for these people that borrow from these lenders. It is not like this is an uncommon thing. I am sure that the lender advised them of the payment schedule and what would happen. It is the same with people who can not afford credit cards and, due to their history, end up with high-interest rates. Again you read the info, and you were told what to expect. I am willing to bet that a few months down the road these same people will be borrowing again and thinking that the police will solve their need to make any payment. -
The challenge is that most Thais no longer carry cash. So when they go to the market, if the system is down, they are screwed. I went to a very famous coffee shop and was told sorry, we only accept digital.

I am not sure where you go but it is still quicker to pay with cash than it is with most wallets. As to the system crashing, I was thinking ore of the markets that are using this

Thaksin to have significant role in Pheu Thai ruling party – Poll
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think that is what they are hoping the average Thai will feel. Thaksin, to me, is like TRUMP . There are people who like him and believe in him no matter what. There are also people that if he went to every person he met and gave them a million baht they would still hate him. I do think, though, that his popularity and that of his party is or has faded. I can not remember anything that he promised in the past 10 years that actually benefitted any of the poor mid-class Thais. -
Personal Recommendations for Therapists in Bangkok

The person that I was with left the country because of Brexit. That was the reason that I switched. I also worked a bit with the owner and her husband. -
It is a pain in the asset when people get in line, get to the cash, figure out what they want to order, and then figure out how to buy a Coke with the digital wallet. The other side of things is what the F happens if the store loses its power. To me, a cashless society is going to make people more brain-dead than they are. @Stoner, remember when you went into Timmy's and the girl had to calculate everything in her head, then you had to figure out what to give her so that she then had to figure out your change.

Is your daughter in Mat 3? The reason I ask is that most Mat 3 have a test at the end of the year for Mat 4 enrollment. If that is the case, you might want to look at extra classes for Mat 4 prep at night school or on weekends. In either case, unless you get her accepted into a higher school that has Mat 4, she may still have to do the exam for Mat 4 qualification.

One of the things I have noticed is that with the digital wallets and all the pther digital crap that people are not tipping as much. Tips used to be the loose change or 20 baht note that you got as change. How many here actually dig into their pockets and put a tip in the container after paying digitally

LOL, last time I checked, those were block parties. I have a dinner party every year around Christmas with friends Cocktail parties are not that prevalent here, but I have been to a few. They are mostly called meet and greets here, I think but they serve the same purpose.

Does your wife have stupid friends?

The funny thing is Cdns care more about the US and Trump than they do about Petit Piere and how badly he is screwing up the country. LOL, the number 1 rule is and always will be by LIFE-educated people. You do not talk about Politics or religion, and to me, you can put wokism in either group. -
Yingluck’s return has to be soon, but things can get complicated
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The challenge, though, is that she is the ONLY chess piece that the military/elite have. With everything that they said and did about the Shin dynasty, it will be very hard to convince a large part of their backers and voters that they are the tough pro monarchy for elite government. It also takes away their last bit of control over the PTP. Once YL is back and the charges against Thaksin are resolved, there is little to stop the Shin's from starting up again with everything that either was wrong or perceived wrong by the military elite. It is hard to say that they are a menace to the country after you have pardoned the family. Also, it becomes harder to try the people that have spoken out as they now have precedence, if not in court, at least in the media, as to why people should not be jailed for being against the military. -

As a CANADIAN I take offence. We are usually quite talkative once we get to know people. BUT most Canadians are worried about offending people due to the woke universe. It is up to the host to start the conversation. I am willing to bet that the male partner is saying the same thing as you to his wife. -
SGD, I hear what you are saying, but I think the others are right, especially when they look you up on the system and see you have reached your limit, they will most likely think you are trying to beat the system. Even if you are not. Might be an idea to get a lawyer to help put a plan together for you.

Calls for government subsidy on all Bangkok public transport
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
You could give them a raise of 600 baht, and they would still say prices are too high. The challenge is that the government has and needs to be more quick to subsidize or to limit the cost of items. Thai people are spoiled in that sense. If they want to make it better, then put newer and cheaper run buses on the road. It will be interesting in 10 years when they have to upgrade and maintain the new lines what they do for money, or do they just let them become death traps
