What about all those foreigners that come to Thailand and go back home with AIDS? Spare a thought for all those poor randy devils. Covid-19 is a drop in the ocean compared to what's going around in the world's largest knocking shop.
That's a rather bold statement--where is your hard evidence for making such a statement.

All I can say is at Pattaya DLT when I renewed last week I only watched about a 30/40 minute video completely in English. No car crashes and to be fair a lot of the information was very relevant. Not had to view one before so this was no hardship. All the people in the room were foreigners.
Yes me also last week. First time I'd had to watch the new video in English, and actually it was well done and very relevant.
Arrived at 8am and was out by 10.30am.
Actually for the relatively small space upstairs and only a few staff, they do a very good job.
They did seem to separate foreigners and Thai, probably to make it easier for the instructions. Also seemed to separate 5 year and 2 year renewals.
Anyway I thought 2 1/2 hours every 5 years can't be too bad.

At the root lies an officially sponsored advocation of systems of belief and understanding.
Systems that have nothing to do with the practical demands and realities of survival in a modern society, rooted in scientific understanding and realistic causational reasoning.
Physical effects are considered to be the results of religious, moral, spiritual and "metaphysical" activity.
And of course, most importantly.........luck.
The blame lies entirely with those who claim to be the only people capable of stewardship of the nation and its people.
Woe betide those who dispute their self-declared "right" to what is in fact.......dominion.
They direct the thoughts, beliefs and actions of the Thai people......each and every individual one of them.
They indoctrinate and anaesthetise the minds of the Thai people.
Every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day, of every week, of every month, of every year, since the stunted and retarded "revolution", they have striven to make careless idiots and fools of the Thai people.
(The system has proven virtually inescapable for the majority of Thai people, who absolutely should not be blamed for the circumstances into which that system forced them)
The intention has always been to create a nation of, primarily, "livestock".
This they have done with extraordinary success.
The blame lies solely with them.
Won't comment on the post itself, but you have mentioned 'they' many times.
Care to elaborate on who are 'they'.

Try this, it will give you a good idea.
But remember you don't pay tax on your purchase price, you pay taxes on the Government land appraisal price for that property, which could be higher or lower. Your wife can take a copy of the Chanoot to the Land Office and probably find out the appraisal price.
Good luck..

Well, the Queensland premier has been completely nutty all-throughout.
She has put Q'land back into the dark ages IMO.
The N.S.W prem not much better.
And to think the 2 of em are/were at loggerheads over the border closures. lol
Im sure both of the above would be watching and cheering the N.Z prime minister.
If there is any more breakouts in their duristrictions they will be itching to go one better.
Probably have the sky full of drones making sure no one steps foot outside their houses.
You seem to have a personal interest in this..care to enlighten us.

I think this only refers to people who have the elite visa already in their passport.
From what I hear, embassies are not allowed to issue new elite visas to new members.
Correct. Elite Visas are nothing to do with Thai Embassies, and also nothing to do with Thai Immigration for the initial application.

It seem like nearly all the decision makers in this sad sorry saga are something bordering on brain-dead.
I dont want to bring gender into this, but consider..
this female N.Z prime minister,
and 2 out of 3 worst effected states of Australia run by female premiers.
These decisions really do seem to be born from "emotional" factors.
Id like to see how great leaders of the past would have handled this:
say for example Winston Churchill
-cower in fear and lock up the world?
heแ NO!!
There has to be some way of drumming this into these decision makers:
IF we lockdown 1, 2 or 5 years and we still have Covid lurking?
What then?
We have killed ALL our economies, industries, killed countless people from the social problems..
ALL FOR NOTHING!
But you did bring gender into it. And only women have 'emotions'...learn something new every day.

Yeah I've found things interesting in Thailand too, provinces seem to have their own rules as do DLT offices apparently, maybe be because of brown envelope syndrome.
Cesspits places like Pattaya etc etc are an example IMHO but where I live not so much the case thankfully.
Thank you for such a crappy response. I just asked in what province you were able to do this. No need for cesspits and brown envelopes. Amazing.

Because I do marriage extensions yearly, and Thai Driving Licence renewals, and even asking Thai bank for letters it has been useful.
Also it shows on Your Thai DL your Thai ID Number the province where you live has given you, not your passport number, so much better as ID.
Very interesting...Can you tell me what province or DLT office you have used your Yellow Book for licence renewal.
This is not possible in Chonburi/Pattaya DLT.

Source please.
I must admit, that if this is so, I find it amusing that this is yet another example of an immigration source or spokes person making a statement or reccomendation prior to cabinet resolution that is simply a wish rather than any type of reality.
Dude bring yourself up to speed--read the news--the PM has signed off on it.

there is no usually anymore your requirements are dictated by which province your immigration office is located? and which way the immigration officer decides to interpret the rules? and what kind of mood is he or she is in that day? usually does not live in Thailand immigration anymore, and if you read the majority of the post's you will see that for a lot of people going to their imm office for an extension due to married to a Thai is a nightmare now. my advice is to take a Thai wittiness who is not scared to Question the imm officer's, we did and it seemed to take the wind from their sails.
have you bothered to read these posts? and how is the Merc.?...LOL
Yes I have bothered, and specifically your post #13, which mentions Chonburi (not other offices in Thailand), where if you have all your documentation correct, it takes less than an hour.
If you (or someone you know) have taken 3 days to get processed then obviously you haven't put together the right documentation or have messed up the funds. Maybe if you read some posts, you'll have an idea what to do, so your application goes smoothly. Do they have a MERC bike, if so get on it.
Also having a Thai with you ( who is not your wife) who berates the immigration officer can only be a bad thing. Its a bit like the 'dress correctly' thread, be polite, be respectful and most of all patient.

You still have to wait 30 days under consideration even if the application takes 30 minutes.
Of course.. we all know that, not what I was asking. I was asking why he quoted 3 days when its usually max one hour.

Yes we all need to be corrected on the actual gas in the ovens used to exterminate people.

it all depends on where and who you have to deal with, some easy some a nightmare, as they can do what they feel like? Chon buri can take three days, ''Chock Dee'' lad.
Please explain---Why do you say 3 days in Chonburi/Jomtien. Max one hour if you have all your documents as required.

Good point. When I did my extension and 90-day back in February, they clipped a little ticket into my passport indicating the requirement to show the bank balance at the next 90-day report. "But I report online" I said, slightly tongue in cheek because I didn't expect the online to work for me, as my last entry to Thailand was last August and I obtained a new passport in January. "Oh, OK" was the reply with a shrug, which I inferred meant they weren't really bothered about it. <90 days later I logged on to the online system more in hope than expectation, and it immediately pinged back "approved".
So I haven't been anywhere near Immigration since February. My next online reporting window opens next week, and I now expect the system to work for me indefinitely. If all goes to plan, I will simply remove the slip before I go for my next extension. My bank book is fully up to date.
Why don't people understand 90 day reporting after its been written about by many posters.
The 90 day report and the 90 day (3 month) report of 800k in the bank after your Retirement extension, are NOT the same, they are two different reporting issues, and at two different desks.

I've seen what you write in this thread and another that you are on now, and you have a very belligerent manner, even after loads of good advice from many people.
So I'd suggest a nicer approach without the "f's and "deleted" might serve you better.

Your simple request has been answered with many different scenarios, none of them good for retirees, so why not just acknowledge that you screwed up by leaving and that your time in Australia is going to be for many more months.. that's the reality.
Also if your retirement extension does run out before travelling back to Thailand, then you will have to start the process again...no ifs or buts about that.
