cool - if he is dependable and a nice guy can you share his Line here for those needing a Vax express? ???? Nothing wrong helping good people making a living in my view.

I will ask him in the morning if I can publish his Line ID.  Should be no problem, but must ask first.

Super dependable, super clean, super driver.  Anyway I'll get back here tomorrow sometime.

I like you !! That's the spirit and thats how I did it too for my first shot. But I paid 2200 Baht roundtrip with Bolt - ouch!! can you share your drivers info? Also just to add for the posters benefit. Wear a brand new N95 mask and bring sanitizer and a secondary cloth mask to fully protect yourself. If you wanna go full hardcore also wear a faceshield.. Nothing wrong being vigilant!

To you and @Jingthing..the driver is my brother-in-law. New car, sensible driver, clean cut. Has been an airport taxi driver for over 10 years, now takes me places when I dont want to drive, and also does some Bolt at times now.

But I do apologise.. as for the return trip, waiting at Phyathai, using motorway including tolls is about the same 2200-2400 baht (not the 1200 baht I mentioned before---faux pas).

Normally I would just drive myself but I didn't know what symptoms I might have from the shot (none actually) so a driver was the best way (actually he just drove my car, my easypass, for 500 baht and a McDonalds for breakfast).

I'm feeling cold feet about going to Bangkok for doses if I can get a booking at Phyathai 2.

    Why?

Bangkok is a hotspot now of Delta variant.

I don't have a very safe option for transport.

Possible issues with travel restrictions. We'll know more tomorrow.

I don't want to get infected by going for a vaccine.

If I knew there was going to be a similar option locally within a month or two I would wait. But no news about that.

So I'm still on the fence.

I'm expecting some abusive responses to this falsely accusing me of not wanting a vaccine. Of course I want a vaccine but what level of risk is worth it to get one? Only individuals can answer that for themselves.

This is not abusive but maybe to help you make up your mind after 48 pages of vaccine posts.

Get on the website on the 12th (or call the other hospital), register yourself for the end of the month shot.

Then hire a taxi for the day for about 1200 baht return ( I have a recommendation for you if you want--same one that took me for my first shot of AZ last month). Then you are all done and dusted, ready for your 2nd shot in about October. Then if Moderna/Pfizer becomes available for the general population late in the year or early next year, then get a 3rd shot as a booster.

The Pattaya private Hospitals have already sold their allocations for late this year, so the above plan is your best shot (no pun intended) for the next few months.

As Mr Nike said..Just do it!!!

I don't understand your answer. Could you have registered  with your passport number only or not?

So it sounds like you put in 13 0's for your Thai id. That's obviously bogus. Anyway good luck and kudos for testing their system. That's a kludge!

If another person puts in 13 0s maybe their system will reject as a dupe.

Some might characterize entering a fake ID number as a kind of fraud.

These apps do not have the capability to take short passport numbers.

So as most know the Pink ID card also has 13 numbers (just the first number-usually 6) denotes an resident alien. So the 13 x '0' story is just bogus.

Here's a rub with the Phyathai 2 registration.

It's for jabs during a two week period.

Vaccination Period: 19-30 July 2021 (except weekends)

If there is a travel ban starting tomorrow that may be for a two week period too.

So if you secure a time slot it may be during the travel ban period but it may be after it.

It will be random either way.

For people that missed posts by myself and others:

Motorway 7 (Pattaya-Bangkok-Pattaya) has NEVER had any restrictions (or checkpoints) for vehicle travel since this started last year.

(Although bus and minibus transport might have some restrictions before boarding).

So if you have your own car/SUV etc then happy journey.

I went through this process last month in Chanthaburi.

It is a requirement that you relinquish all claim to property acquired during the marriage. Should you divorce, then you would be potentially entitled to to 50% of the property.

Easy to do, signatures, copies of passport etc.

Yes, you both have to attend the office together.

    This is CORRECT.

My wife and I have purchased over 20 properties over the past 25 years (Chiangmai, Chonburi/Pattaya, Rayong) and I have been required to physically sign in front of the official  (with Passport copy) every time.

For the OP...there is no way around this requirement to physically sign in front of the Land Office official.

PS.. I had the same problem many years ago (when I was overseas), so we gave the land owner 80% of the selling price and she gave us the original Chanoot (plus of course a signed document of the transaction details etc). When I arrived home we all went to the Land office, I signed, and she received her last 20%, plus a tip.

I would suggest this as the best method in your situation.

Indeed. Esp by the tourists in Pattaya for a blow out, what with the bell ringing, horn blowing, buying for groups of ladies and staff, and also bar fining groups. A highly reliable TQ regular once mentioned watching a tourist run through B50,000.

I do wonder what the difference is between a 'highly reliable regular' and just a 'regular'. Please enlighten us.

Educate me, my GF has just paid 30 baht for a visit to a government hospital and came back with 2 months' supply of Omeprazole. Free.

I asked you to do your own research as you made the first blanket statement, but as you won't then I will educate you as requested.

    1) Up to about 5 years ago all Thai people were eligible for the basic 30 baht card, to be used at government hospitals.

If a Thai citizen took up the offer and registered for the scheme, then they are still eligible for their lifetime (or until another scheme replaces it). If they didn't register at that time, then for the past 4-5 years it is impossible to register, and hospital costs must be self paid.

    2) Even with the basic 30 baht card not all costs are covered (room for example).

    3) A gold card issued to the elderly actually covers all costs 100%.

Hope that clarifies everything for you.

Obviously, W’s daughter, a professional engineer working in California, wouldn’t have started such a Gofund me w/o talking to dad first. Again, the idea is to reopen if they can afford to do so, not steal a little money, much as our TVF Proctologists may love to think so.

Yes, ma’am. But I really don’t picture a TQ patron crying over pocket change. You’re probably thinking of the usual TVF whinger crying over 5 baht confiscated by a songtaew driver when on his way to find the 40 baht  Changs. Understandable, given their prevalence.

Now in the very worst case, a TQ patron would probably be obliged to

    . . . write a suicide note on a hundred dollar bill
'cos if you wanna run cool
    . . . you got to run
    On heavy, heavy fuel

Less drastically, he might perhaps hum some other Dire Straits he’d heard through TQ’s JBLs while ordering another round of drinks for a few hotties:

    Sometimes you're the windshield
    Sometimes you're the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
    Sometimes you're a fool in love . . .

Joking aside, if TQ can’t reopen, then the Gofundme contributions will be used for a worthy cause as stated on the page. That’d still be a good thing, too, so you may save your hankies.

TQ was doing OK pre-COVID and surviving after the first lockdown, so it seems more accurate to conclude it’s you who’s had a good shake and it’s time for you to move on. And thanks for sharing.

Many of our aged posters do find it comforting to project their own obsolescence, their own long-past sell by dates, onto other people and businesses. That said, any business mentioned here, even the mostly beloved 40 baht Chang shacks, will have detractors to offer up doom and sneers, sometimes accompanied with the most pretentious barstool economics blather. Forum cred, I suppose, to seem still relevant in a world where nobody cares to listen to the old fart if they can possibly avoid it.

Years ago an interviewer implied a similar opinion to Keith Richards. After all, he’d enjoyed several lifetimes of good shakes and already looked straight out of the Walking Dead. The Keef’s reply: there’s still juice in the old grape. Quite a lot of juice, it turned out, which found a still-appreciative audience.

It ain’t over till the Fat Boy backfires. As many have said, closure may now be inevitable irrespective of Gofundme and best wishes. Otherwise, to judge by pre-COVID and earlier post-lockdown patronage, TQ likely would have continued viable into the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your treatise. Much appreciated!.

I am honoured that you have dissected my post so thoroughly...it is very flattering.

Sad about your conclusions, but I understand you are writing under pressure to please a greater audience.

    Keep up the good work.

Absolutely not true, especially in Thailand

More than any other country in the world the assessment of status and worth in Thailand is largely due to how much land a person owns, and although this cannot be taken with you it can be handed down.

There are very few financial penalties currently in Thailand for keeping land empty - the much mooted revised land tax is still in abeyance, which is why you see prime plots of land between beach road and second road still empty

You obviously know very little about Thailand culture, I think you need to increase your bandwidth

@crobe He won't listen (see his many same themed posts)..I have just filtered out  his name on this thread.

And do you think that the information given to the general public in the UK/US is any better? I stand by my statement that you are Thai bashing with zero evidence.

A couple of weeks ago detailed reports on a number of locations where Covid had been found in Pattaya were given, including 3 businesses in the main soi nearest my house. Conversely, 2 guys who drank in my local bar in the UK died of Covid. No mention in the press. I'm happy and relatively confident of the information I receive in Thailand. Less so in the UK.

@polpottA couple of weeks ago detailed reports on a number of locations where Covid had been found in Pattaya were given, including 3 businesses in the main soi nearest my house.

Can you produce these reports please---sure they were about pattaya?

As soon as the red zone restrictions are lifted. They will pour down Hwy 7 in large numbers every weekend.

Yes this will definitely help Pattaya business overall, but sadly this type of local tourist will not help the TQ and places of that ilk.

  13. @Susco A Gogo bar that has made big profits from tourists for the past 50 years, get discounted rents for the biggest part of the 10 months the pandemic has caused issues, asking for donations?

    Pathetic.

@kinyara Obviously donating is optional but I totally agree, whilst I don't want to see bars closed for the regular employees that will suffer, a certain genre of bar where the prostitution of others is a significant part of a previously successful and lucrative business model sits  pretty low on my sympathy radar.

Gotta agree with both these statements. Exceptional profits some years which allowed a good life for the owners. So its going to close after 42 odd years, so what!. If they don't have enough money to carry on, how is a few thousand dollars going to help. So yes it is pathetic asking for donations. Just let everyone have their memories of the place and be done with it.

The land has no value with no tenants, and if no one wants to buy the land, because there are no tenants.  In that case, it's a liability to the owner.

@LeaverWhat a load of rubbish. Land is the most valuable commodity to Thai's...tenant or no tenant, land keeps its value in good times and bad.

(Add a bit of gold to that for good measure).
