A Focus On : Kanchanaburi - site of an Iconic Railway
Billpro785 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I live in Kanchanaburi, and love it. Plenty to see and do. A group of us, go into the jungle via 4X4, and explore the remote sites from World War 2. -
No, I don't mind. Unlike the 90 percent here I love living here, no regrets at all. I retired in Kanchanaburi in 2018 , and have never had a issue ever. I would live no where else. Again from reading the posts here, 90 percent here are nothing but old age drama queens. Their are Miserable people, know matter where they live.

Bored of Bangkok... Any advice to an alternative place to live?
Billpro785 replied to kingofallasians's topic in Bangkok
I'm an American expat living in Kanchanaburi. Love it here. Close enough to Bangkok, 2 hours if you need anything. Nice little expat bar area, low key, but fun. Plenty here to keep you busy, and the scenery . On costs, you can rent a nice 1 bedroom floor level apartment near the river for less than 100 Used per month. So yes, with your 1100 USD per month, you can live well, and put some aside for savings. Pm me if you have any questions. -
Have American friends living here in Thailand. The husband is 62, and the American wife is under 50. The husband has his Non-O visa. From what we understand, the wife can get a Non-O visa based upon marriage . They filled out the paperwork online with Thai E visa , printed the forms out, and presented them to local immigration, as per the website. Local immigration said "no" you must apply outside the county. Anyone know the correct method ?

Concerns Mount Over Fate of 6 Thai Hostages Held by Hamas in Gaza
Billpro785 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have 99 percent feeling that on Jan 20th , they all will be released. The US will have REAL leader in office, not some old man that can't make it to the bathroom, yet alone run the US. Trump said there "will be hell to pay ", if the hostages are not released before Jan 20th. The man doesn't make idle threats. -
You can test the amp draw of the starter while it's on the bike, with battery tester. The more amps it draws, the more it is going bad. I have battery tester, that not only tests the battery condition, but also the starter, and charging system. Easy and simple to use. Gives you good idea how much life is left in the starter. Bought mine from Amazon in the states, but have seen them Ladaza here in Thailand.

2 Yr Old Fino spluttering then stopping?
Billpro785 replied to JeffersLos's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
From my experience as aircraft mechanic, and racing dirt bikes, the first step is start with the basics 1, inspect the spark plug, it will give you excellent starting point, Compare the plug with the many charts on the web. 2, check compression, place your thumb over the spark plug hole and crank the engine. It should try and push your thumb off the hole. 3, check spark, inset the spark plug into the plug wire, and touch the plug to the engine, and crank the engine, A, cold engine should be blue\white spark B, warm engine, same color. If the spark is weak, or a yellow color, points to a ignition issue , CDI, spark plug wire, coil 4, inspect and if needed change both air, and fuel filter 5, check intake system for air leaks with the engine running, spray carb cleaner over the engine. If the engine speeds up, you have air leak. 6 , if fuel injected, remove the injector. crank the engine, a fine mist should spray out if carb, while the engine is hot, and running spray carb cleaner into the air filter , if the engine runs better, clean the carb. The above steps will point in the right direction to troubleshoot the issue. On the burnt smell, First step is clean the engine, and inspect for any leaking gaskets , especially near the exhaust system. Without seeing it or the plug, sounds like a ignition issue , coil, cdi , stator gets warm, and misfires -

Can someone please explain the "combo method ", for getting a Non-o visa ? I know from internet searches, I need total of 800K baht in the Bank. So for example, if I had 6 months income from American Social Security at 65K per month, could I make the difference by money in the bank ? Of would need 12 straight months of deposits still ?

Anyone still rent Wave/Dream type motorbikes?
Billpro785 replied to lsemprini's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
How many 1000's of tourists each week rent motorbikes and don't have any accidents. So one tourist has accident and all motorbikes are death wish ? -
If this is not the correct forum, mods, please move it, thanks. I'm buying a used vehicle from local dealer in Kanchanaburi, have placed a down deposit , and the balance due is 450000 baht. My question, what are the options for paying the dealer ? I have the funds in my Bangkok Bank account now. if I pay in cash It will take 9 days to withdraw the money, 50K limit per day. Is there another option such as transferring the whole amount to the dealer ?

All cars as 1996 have OBD II. The blue connecter you are taking about is OBD !! dongle and plugs into the 16 pin OBD !! Port. If you go online, there is website that shows the location of ports in cars. With blue wireless dongle , and app download on your phone, you will be able to read the codes, and not much more. To clear the codes, and do detailed troubleshooting you will need a better scanner. I have Autel maxi scanner 608 that can do everything and even make extra FOB keys. Of course it was 3000 USD and was left over from my old job. I also have foxwell scanner new, I don't use a Autel TPMS tool as well for working on the TPMS. Where are you in Thailand ? As I don't use the Foxwell scanner if you like it I would sell to you very cheap, less than 2000 baht.

I'm a US expat, I HIGHY Suggest you talk to a REAL accountant , US tax lawyer , etc , someone who KNOWS , and don't listen to the armchair. tax experts here. That is what I have done, had video chat with my US based tax accountant , and as I posted before, I'm not worried, and for me this means nothing and life will continue as normal living here in Thailand full time.
