There would be no blacklist for doing it. The might though make it difficult for you do your extension next time.

You would have to a change of address to do your 90 day reports in Chiang Mai.

Ok so I would get extension with address at"xyz" and then change back for 90 day report? Although I also have to do a TM30 in CM.

  2. Long story short.

I obtained Stat Dec from Australian embassy the same as last year but stuffed up because of the lower exchange rate so I fall a little short. I don't keep a lot of money in the bank as I just transfer from Oz when needed.

I have seen a couple of ads on here and FB of agents that obtain your extension (mine based on retirement) without proof of income and without deposit in bank.

I was told today if I goto Bangkok or Pattaya or wherever I will be "blacklisted" with immigration and will not be able to renew extension next year in my resident city of Chiang Mai.

Any one know of validity of this?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. I have a credit card from Bangkok Bank and only had to put the credit limit in a fixed account, no extra.

Some have said that having to do that defeats the purpose of getting the card. However the card I was given by the bank was an Air Asia card and builds up points for flights. So I buy a lot on the card and transfer from savings account straight away so no interest but I have built up a few flights already. Plus I am getting a higher interest rate on the fixed account.

A bit more on the butane discussion. We are both right.

Butane is a gas. However, it is soluble in higher straight chain hydrocarbons.

Butane is 100% dissolved in hexane at 1 C. It's about 75% soluble in hexane at 5 C. As the temperature rises, solubility decreases. It is much less soluble in polar solvents such as ethanol and water.

There are probably parts of the USA ( the colder states ) where butane is quite stable dissolved in gasoline.

Equally, there is probably not much butane in Thai gasoline because of the higher ambient temperature, and higher proportions of ethanol in Thai formulations.

Yes. I was very aware of what you were saying about the vapour pressures and boiling points of butane and propane. Like I said I worked in operations actually operating the plant that makes the various fuels. I have an electrical background and chemistry was one of my worst areas in school and college. I relied on the chemical engineers at work to tell me what was needed to be done to produce the various components of gasoline to specific standards. I knew butane was added but did not know percentage as that was not in my area of operation. Last night I contacted one of my friends at the refinery to check up for me on percentages. He was on shift today so replied quickly. Now these figures are what is used at the Caltex Refinery in Queensland, Australia. The winter  blend of unleaded petrol (gasoline) contains 5% butane and is as high as 14% for super unleaded.

Obviously different refineries in different countries would use different percentages. As you say in Thailand the percentage would be low due to the higher temperatures.

I also asked him about the timing of fuel going "bad" but there is no definitive times and basically said what others have said on here.

  5. Not anymore,  inflation 'i'm afraid.    Was there yesterday,,,12,900.  for retirement visa.  Still the cheapest
    [i think]
Moreover , now have to go immo' soi 5 for photo,, but no queuing
    200 for 90 day reports
    400 if not a customer
Visa exempt  to non-o to retirement visa =21,000
Tourist visa to non-0 to retirement visa 21,000
can also open bank accounts if you need.
Most other agents 15,000 for retirement visas.

Wow Pattaya expensive. The one I use in Chiang Mai is 7500 for retirement extension and includes 4 x 90 day reports.

  6. In cigarette lighters, butane is a liquid. That's because it is pressurised. It has a boiling point of 1 degree C, which means at normal temperatures in Thailand ( 30 C ) it would be fully in the gas phase, not a liquid.
There may be trace quantities of butane in gasoline; however, certainly not enough to contribute as a fuel.
On the other hand, LPG is primarily propane and butane.

I think working 23 years in an oil refinery in operations actually operation the plant from both outside and in the control room offers me some insight as to how gasoline is made and what components it has.

    And to quote:-

Gasoline in the U.S. is usually blended from straight run gasoline, reformate, alkylate, and some butane. The approximate composition is 15% C4–C8 straight-chain alkanes, 25 to 40% C4–C10 branched alkanes, 10% cycloalkanes, less than 25% aromatics (benzene less than 1.0%), and 10% straight-chain and cyclic alkenes.

  7. Butane and propane are gases at room temperature and pressure. Petrol tanks are not pressurised. The lowest molecular weight straight-chain hydrocarbon that is a liquid at room temperature is pentane.

So are you saying there is no butane or propane is gasoline?

Actually I am wrong. I don’t think it has propane (C3) but does contain butain(C4).

You can make an income affidavit at the Australian Consulate in Chiang Mai, to meet your financial requirement for your extension.

    No proof of funds required.

    Get my drift?

Yep, thanks. Got it last week. But i have been told by 2 agents Chiang Mai immigration now require proof of income as we as the Stat Dec.

And also read on here somewhere someone was saying same thing.

It was not meant solely for your post. You were merely responding after all the others.

To me they are not a good option since he has the income and the money. He does not need a agent to provide the proof.

    Understand.

The problem is here in Thailand and TVF you get so MANY conflicting stories and it is hard to know which way to turn. Due to circumstances I have been caught out this year with my retirement extension. I have contacted a number of people and get so many conflicting stories as to what is right. And, as commonly known, immigration officers can often make the rules to suit themselves. Anyhow hopefully I will find out next week what will happen in my situation.

  10. Gasoline, petrol what ever you call it in your country is a mixture of hydrocarbon molecules. Benzine is only one of the molecules used in the production of gasoline so you technically don't buy Benzine at the pump. Depending on what refinery the fuel came from, where it is targeted to go to and what time of the year the components vary. In a colder climate more butane and propane are added to make easier starting. If left sitting in the tank a long time the light components can evaporate and cause starting problems.

There is a company advertising on Facebook who do it in Bangkok. No deposition income. They say they sponsor you. I asked about Chiang Mai and they said they don't have an officer at immigration here so I would have to send my passport to Bangkok or take it in person. Cost 16,000. Don't know how genuine it is.

For all the above reasons, your post sounds like fabricated nonsense to me.

Up to you what you believe. But thinking back on it, you were not there when he said it so you would NOT know. I do not need to fabricate nonsense, they do enough of that themselves.

Sure, and a songthaew driver... he considers himself a winner? Maybe he is but anyone who talks in absolutes is going to be incorrect at least to some %% - - and really, not worth quoting... stick with Lao Tzu... or Ben Franklin

    Of course not.
