You can separately buy a larger cuff. I got mine on Lazada

There are very, very few stand alone "clinics" in Bangkok and most are best avoided. Clinics in Bangkok are almost entirely located in the outpatient departments of hospitals. Think of those as large clinics. Outpatient department in any large hospital will include a urology clinic.

You are in excellent hands

You will have to explain to me what you want and why these recommendations are not adequate. As far as I know you did nto yet consult these doctors?

Another issue with Chinese medecine is that it usually takes time and multiple visits. OP is traveling to Thailand from I think Bangladesh for a short visit. So may nto be a very practiucal option for him.Language barrier also an issue.

Thai pharmies carry little to no supplements of this type. IHerb online is best bet. Thoroughly reliable and dast drlivery (1-2 weeks)

Pricing for biologic antibody drug "Xolair"
Sheryl replied to voyagerUSA's topic in Health and Medicine
Yes I think that is about right. Not under 20k. Getting information by phone seldom works with government hospitals. A vidit in person may be needed. -
Pricing for biologic antibody drug "Xolair"

Suggest you go to the "after hours" clinic at Chulalongkorn University Hospital . Ask for an acharn (professor) specializing in allergy/immunology. You will have to go in person to make the appointment and there may be a wait list.https://chulalongkornhospital.go.th/kcmh/en/dept/คลินิกพิเศษนอกเวลาราชก/ It will still be quite expensive there, as it is imported and under patent. There is no locally made version. But it will be less than the private hospitals. -
IG is not recommended if previously immunized. Only for those never before immunized with a category 3 wound (which any catr bite would easily be, cat bites are very deep).

boots and Watsons are indeed mainly for cosmetics and never wehere to gho for medication. You need a proper, large Thai pharmacy. If you want a specific recommendation please state where you will be/are living Most Thai generics are fine and that includes the many local brands of amlodopine and several local brands of agtorvastatin. For clopigrel, locally made Apolets is fine (Berlin Pharm)

As I previously advised by PM: pediatric endocrinologist https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Anuttara-Pothikamjorn?fbclid=IwAR2ItqG2bCrdJgvIxqYpGV9slOQl1JaPYH_F1IsfIN9CQhVDGNOYypSHe70 pediatric dematologist there (female) https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/pamela-chayavichitsilp For your spine the best doctor in Thailand is https://www.bnhhospital.com/search-doctor/entry/4093/?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=genetic There are countless mid-range hotels in both the Silom area (near BNH hospital, spine doctor) and along Sukhumvit (near Bumrungrad). You can compare and select on Agoda

Any hospital can do a stress test, but you need to consider the qualifications of the cardiologist doing it. Some hospitals can do the CT calcium scan, some cannot (I don;'t know re Nthavej specifically) and one also has to consider how up to date the equipment is (not only for accuracy's sake but also because older machines use much more radiation) Bangkok Heart Hospital is offering a very good promotional price of 2,500 baht to the end of the year for the CT scan. https://www.bangkokhearthospital.com/en/package/ct-coronary-calcium-score You won't do better than that IF a CT scan is what you need. Might or might not be. Even the newer machines do involve some radiation exposure. For the OP's situation, where a decision has to be made about whether to treat an elevated LDL (based on what may be an indirect estimation, and with other lipid parameters being fine) it is worth it but for someone else might not be. It would help if I knew why you are considering these tests. One would not usually get both. Stress Test involves no radiation exposure and in addition to identifying about 80% of coronary artery disease, gives a picture of your overall cardio fitness. That may not be a concern if you already exercise regularly with no problems, but for a more sedentary person can be good to know.

Just what I needed, thanks so much! I think it was the "proximity test" that had me stumped, I had no idea what I was supposed to aim for.

Hi guys I'm going to renew my license tomorrow. Last 2 times i did this I was at a complete loss as to what I was supposed to do in the simulation test (?depth perception? reaction time? I am nto even sure what it tries to assess). Can someone simply explain what the idea is? Is there a specific point I am supposed to try to drive the car up to or stop at? I had a whole group of people (staff, other applicants) yelling instructions to me in Thai, while my Thai on the whole is pretty good I could make no sense of what they were saying. Appreciate any help. Last 2 times they just waved me through but would be noce to not need to rely o nthat happening.

As above Also, if immune globulin is to be given it needs to be done immediately, on day of the bite I think you can proceed with the postexposure regimen the hospital recommended.

Above is often true. But more to the point few people actually bother to read the actual research. Rather they glom onto mass media (or worse, social media) accounts of what the research supposedly says, which is invariably inaccurate or missing very important nuances and caveats (like, for example, the enormous difference between correlation and causation -- most studies that make the media simply show correlation. And sometimes one that can't even be replicated.). In the cause of "alternate" and social media, sometimes the claims are completely bogus and the studies do not even exist, and the footnotes if any are to unrelated articles. People simply do not check. The modus operandi seems to be to start with what one wants to believe then google until something is found that seems to support that, and accept it uncritically. Serious scientists do not post on YouTube, TikTok or the like. Those media simply do not lend themselves to proper presentation of science.

LDL unless specified as direct is likely indirect measure and with a low triglyceride may not be accurate. Not all labs can do a direct LDL, you have to inquire. Stress test is not very expensive (2-3,000 baht usually). Coronary Ct Calcium scan used to be 2-3 times as much but lately there have been promotions as low as 2,500 baht in the Bangkok area. I don 't know what price you will find in CM. For purposes of aiding decision to treat or not treat elevated LDL, Calcium scan is best. There is no upper iimit to HDL. Should be over 40, preferrably over 60 and the higher the better. So yours is fine.

3.0 cm (virtually your size) is considered large (not giant, but large) and associated with an increased incidence of gall bladder cancer. Is it opaque or translucent?
-
Triglycerides are fine then. In fact lower than average -- which is good but also means that if your LDL measure was indirect it may not be accurate. So I suggest you make sure in future to get only direct LDL measurements. An EKG is not what I meant. Rather, I meant either an Exercise Stress Test or a Coronary Artery Scan. The latter can be of special value in deciding whether or not to take statins. An EKG tells whether or you are having or have had a heart attack or are in a chronic abnormal heart rhythm, or are currently experiencing lack of adequate blood flow to the heart., It does not tell you anything else about the state of your coronary arteries nor what blood flow to the heart and heart rhythm are like when not at rest.

SS started direct international deposits to Thailand a few years back so the old system some used of ACH transfer into a Bangkok Bank account that then had to be physically collected is unnecessary. You can have your SS directly deposited into your regular Thai bank account. You could of course also have it directly deposited in the US and then arrange your own transfers as needed but that incurs bank transfer charges (SS direct deposit is free) and also would make it harder to establish source of the funds should you ever need to do so. While I am not one of those who think it at all likely that huge amounts of work and effort, including inter-departmental linkages of a type otherwise non-exist in Thai government, will be undertaken in future to track down relatively small amount of tax revenue from foreign retirees, it is still prudent to be able to readily show the source of remittances from 1 January forward just in case. You can find the direct deposit request form online, complete it and sent it to the FBU office in Manila. Takes a few months to come into effect but works a treat thereafter. As it currently stands (and as has been the law for along time) you are not required to file a Thai tax return if you do not owe any Thai tax, and you owe Thai tax only if you have >160K taxable income remitted into Thailand. Under the DTA US SS is completely exempt from taxation in Thailand, full stop (regardless of whether you have to pay any tax on it in the US, which will depend on your total income). So if your only remittances are your SS you are on solid ground in not filing (unless of course some totally new requirement is enacted in future) and even if the subject of an in-depth investigation (exceedingly unlikely) wold not end up owing back taxes and penalties.

Paget's Disease - Treatment option for Bangkok resident.
Sheryl replied to CartagenaWarlock's topic in Health and Medicine
I have a feeling Paget's disease was a Google translate created mix up and she has an altogether different problem. Possibly what she meant was Paget's disease of the nipple which despite the similarity in name is a completrly clinical entity (and often connected to breast cancer). This would fit with seeing a dermatoligist receiving a cream and possible biopsy in the future.
