  1. Check out Thailand's Ladies Volleyball team at the A|sian Volleyball Championship. Having already beaten Japan once, and now China (the #1 team), they may have a rematch with Japan in the next stage of the championship, or South Korea for the #1 spot.

  2. It is a shortage. After the tax increase on 4th September, the beer companies have stopped bottling beer as anything after that date is liable for the tax increase.. The beer companies are challenging the government as to who should incur the increased taxes whether the distributor, or the breweries themselves.. As a bar manager all I can say is it is making my life extremely difficult.. Importers are also slowing down on release of stock due to the tax increase..

You will find over the coming months import draught beer getting very expensive (by possibly as much as 30%) as the new taxes apply by Litre.

Thanks for that. Makes things a lot clearer. Also runs true to what the lady in my shop was trying to explain.

Back home (UK), this would never happen. Government tax the drinks companies, the drinks companies up there sale price, therefore the retailer ups their price. Easy! TIT.smile.png

  3. I too have noticed this, so I asked the lady that runs the little shop where I live in Lat Phrao 101. In her best English, yes she does speak some, she said that it is all to do with the retailers not wanting to buy new stock at present.

I can only assume it is all related to the price increase and them holding old priced stock, therefore coining in on the increase before replenishing. So, charging you the new price for the old stock and when they have no stock they can possibly get a discount on the new price for a baulk buy.

  4. Hi all!

I am having issues installing required drives for hardware on my dual boot notebook. I have Ubuntu 12.10 installed on an external hard drive and Win7 on my C drive.

Is there any Linux/Ubuntu guru's in Bangkok, that would not mind helping me out, but in person please? As one issue is that my internet connection on the Ubuntu OS keeps dropping out every 20-30 seconds. PM me if you need more details.

    Cheers in advance.

  5. It's not a serious ban or more Saudis would end up paying the penalty (if there even is one) after they arrive back home with their passports stamped 'Thailand.'

A large number of Saudis go to Thailand for medical treatment. They generally go as a family group. If the males were just looking for prostitutues, they can always go to Bahrain where the bizness caters to their specific cultural requirements.

Been to Bahrain and seen it with my own eyes, the drinking, eating bacon/pork and the womanising. All things I believe they are not allowed to do in Saudi, hence they probably fly to LOS just for a difference from Bahrain. smile.png
