  1. Now I am not saying my Inglish is perfect, coz I no it aint.

When I was teajing in a government school, year 5, I used to get given the Thai national tests twice a year by my Thai co-teacher to check the answers, the grammar and spelling were atrocious and for some questions there were 4 possible correct answer. I used to think surely these are not given out by the government exam board, but they are, to my shock and horror! The thing that needs to be done in Thailand -- around the learning of any other language other than the usual native languages -- is the need to actually study it and put it in to practice, i would even go as far to say that an immersion programme be set in place.

Now, I will probably get the usual farrang Thai sympathisers saying "learn the language" etc., I am and have been.

When I was at school I was taught Latin along with French as core subjects, I do still speak very very rudimentary French and Latin I do not speak at all, this is due to not actually using it on a consistent basis after school. Here in Thailand I can order my food, ask and give directions, count and do most rudimentary things to get by, I have taught myself this in my period of living here over the past 3-4 years.

  2. Think so yeah. The new Honda Zoomer X, I was quoted 80k, that is half the scooter the PCX is.

As for what docs you need not really sure, but you will need to have it registered to an address so, maybe a Tabien Baan. I think that is a must even for buying out right or at least a Thai that has one.

  3. Think you will be lucky to find one cheaper, as the original 125cc was around 70-72k. A friend of mine bought the 150cc about 2 months ago and paid around the same, as you are being quoted, in Si Sa Ket province.

  4. There are a few places over where I live, Lat Phrao 101, depending on what you are displaying. You anywhere near there?

Thankx for the quick reply. Not really near LatPhrao, but I can go there, no problem. Will be displaying mostly jewelry and fashion items.

Oh OK! I will double check that there are some places nearby that deal with jewelry, as I thought you meant bigger stuff.

  5. Sorry can't help you on finding a VoiP cordless, as I too have been looking for one. About a year ago a friend and I were just look for a VoiP phone and kept getting the same thing. My friend even found a manufacturer here in Thailand, but when he asked "Do you sell them in Thailand and where?" he got the same answer "Sorry, no have!".

So thanks for the heads up with the link. biggrin.png

  6. I had to get a Non-B Visa last year, whilst still being on Thai soil. I was advised that I had to go to Singapore, by the company, to apply for my visa and that I would only get a 3 month Non-B visa.

The company gave me a lot of paperwork, there were things like the company tax details, company registration in Thailand so on and so on. They also gave me a contract, which I had signed, along with the letter of the job offer.

Got to Singapore and went to the Consulate, handed all my docs in with the correct fee and photos etc. Got a receipt and told to come back the next afternoon. Here is the Thai consulate in Singapore. I think you can also do it in Laos, but the company I was working for had had people turned away from there.

  7. I do the same as you, work online.

I have a LAN as I also use a VoiP phone, as the Wifi here is not fast enough or stable enough. The apartment block I stay in allowed me to have my own line put in, which I have a landline from TOT and the internet from True. I then Wifi it through the router for the missus.

  8. None of the above. He is having a G&T.

Bit bad that they have stoop that low to get the crime figures up for their quota. Not allowed to do that in the UK anymore. Yes I know this is LOS, before anyone states the obvious. whistling.gif
